Honeybee

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

By the end of May, eighty percent of the United Kingdom and almost sixty-five percent of the Northern Hemisphere had been treated with the vaccine. It was being billed as a huge success by the news media worldwide, as food crops appeared healthy and flourishing. Apart from a few incidents due to incorrect safety precautions being taken, the outlook was good. Honeybee populations were still poor but the forecast showed a steady increase by mid-2017.

The plan now was to carefully monitor crops and honeybee populations on a day to day basis until further notice. A specialist department of government would be set up and would deal with any problems, should they arise, quickly and effectively.

All in all, the world narrowly escaped a catastrophic food crisis and governments worldwide celebrated the news of the successful vaccination. This early enthusiasm would come back to haunt every one of them, as they would soon come to find out.
