Chapter 135
Chapter 135
(MIA
The week passed. We spent our days visiting Alex’s favourite spots from his childhood, and he didn’t leave my side for a mun
any day after the incident at the cafeteria. It was as if he thought I was a porcelain doll who would break any moment, and
maybe I would.
The first two three days, I was still reluctant about being in public. Eventually, I got more and more comfortable.
On today’s roster was shopping and then dinner at a restaurant that was co-owned by Gabriel’s friend, Zach. He was apparently
Skye’s father. I hadn’t had the chance to meet Alex’s little fangirl yet.
I loved shopping. I loved shopping without a budget even more I loved trying on dresses, and it looked like Alex was having a
field day giving his opinions on everything 1 put on. He bought everything I touched, even the ones I didn’t quite love, and didn’t
still till I had a whole new wardrobe.
“I had such a great day,” I tell him as soon as we were back, not minding how loud I was because there was nobody at home.
Aurora was staying in her own apartment since we saw her last week. Ronan was out at a party. And Gabriel and Sofia were at
some charity gala for tigers, I think he had mentioned.
“I had a great day too,” Alex hums in response.
“You didn’t even buy anything.”
“I had fun pampering you. I don’t like shopping for myself.”
My brows narrow a little. “You have a great wardrobe.”
“I have a stylist who buys them for me.”
“Wow.” I teased, “The big bad Alex King of the mafia had a stylist
He shoots me a smile and I shake my head looking around the house. Apparently, Sofia was a painter, and the house was filled
with paintings she made. Like dozens of them.
“Your dad is obsessed with Sofia,” I commented, looking around a little.
“Obsession your wife runs in the family, I’m afraid.”
Heat rises to my cheeks. “Are you flirting with me, Mr. Whitlock?
“What if I am, Mrs. Whitlock?”
“Hm..” I buzz with a blush, walking closer to him while he sits on the couch.
I gulp, cautiously making my way onto his lap. He freezes at the contact as if he hadn’t expected me to do it.
Even I hadn’t expected myself to do it.
You need to be careful, or I might think you like me,” I whisper, our breaths mingling.
“I more than like you, Mia,” He replies with sincerity in his voice, and without thinking twice, I lower my lips onto his to quickly
brush them together in a peck.
He stiffens under my touch, his hands curling into fists at his sides.

Every time I had screamed my hangs out when he tried to get closer had really made a mark on him. I nodded.
Ha hands rakse, one of them holding my cheeks as he pulls me back in to kiss me, and devours me whole. He was soft, gentle,
something I hadn’t known Alex to be, as if he was savouring every second.
I could feel him grow hard underneath me, and desire reflected in his eyes when I pulled away.
I was breathless
I thought he would want more, his hands would linger to take what he had a right on, but he doesn’t. Instead, he rests his
forehead on mine, the tips of our noses almost brushing. “You have no idea how long I have been waiting to do this,” he says,
surprising me.
“How long
“Since I last stopped.” He kisses the top of my forehead. “In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a little addicted to you, Mia.”
“That’s good, because I feel the same way,” I smile softly.
“Are you ready to finally let me in?” He asked. “Please, baby. I’m dying here.”
The smile from my face vanishes and I reluctantly nod while trying to scramble off his lap but he doesn’t let me. He pulls my legs
on one side of his and puts his arms around me, allowing me to rest my head on his chest.
“Let me hold you so you remember that you’re safe now,” He tells me. “And so that I remember you’re safe now too.”
“Is it okay if I don’t go into details?”
“I will take whatever you give me.”
“1-I woke up to see Dominic all beaten up and bloodied and tied in front of me. There were two of them- a ginger and a blonde.
The details are a little fuzzy, but they beat Dominic in front of me. I somehow managed to open one of the ropes binding me and
I tried getting away but... but one of them grabbed me and held me down.”
A sob rakes through my body as memories flooded in me, ones that I had suppressed in the weeks that had passed.
Alex’s hold on me tightens. “What did he do, love?”
“He... he held me down,” I repeated. “I was really weak, and I fought back. I.. I kept wriggling my way out but he was too heavy.
He kissed me forcefully and then his hands slipped under my clothes.”
I could feel Alex freeze beneath me in the truest sense. I close my eyes, digging closer into him, a sob escaping me. “I kept
calling for you,” I cry, “I thought maybe by some miracle someone would listen.”
Alex’s chin rests on the top of my head. “I’m so sorry, Mia. I’m so f**g sorry.”
“I got so mad at you for not protecting me. I got so mad at you for marrying me. I was so mad. I could feel his touch on my skin
all the time for days. He took his time, you know? He pressed on my wounds when I moved too much, he...” I couldn’t finish, a
sobbing mess by then.
Alex doesn’t even reply to me. I couldn’t see his expression, he just holds me tighter and tighter like he was trying to pull me into
him even though there was no space left between us.
“Did he. He finally speaks up, “Did he...?” Alex’s voice breaks.

I shake my head. He just touched himself while touching me. I shut my eyes through all of it, but he stopped when he got a call.
He told the blonde they had to leave because the Bratva were on the way. He considered shooting me but I think he got orders
otherwise. He mentioned something about this being a call to the King family to not fish in waters they don’t belong
to.”
“Thank God he didn’t...” Alex doesn’t finish his sentence. “Mia,” he pulls me away from him and I reluctantly look at him. Rage
pools his eyes like I had never seen before, almost on the verge of psychotic. He looked like it took every bit of his restraint to
not burst out. “I will kill every man in the Italian organisation if I have to until I find your culprit, and when I do, I swear to God, we
will give him a life worse than death.”
Silent tears streak down my face.
“I should have never dragged you into this mess,” he curses under his breath in a language I don’t understand. “I should have
never forced you to marry me. I don’t know what I was thinking: I knew I gave up the mundane life the moment I willingly decided
to join the Bratva, but I swear, I got selfish. I thought I could have it all with you. I really thought I could...” He pauses, gulps. “I’m
your culprit just as much as that man. I’m so f**ng sorry, Mia.”
I shake my head, the tears not stopping. “You found me.”
“After I became the reason you were taken, hurt... abused.”
I shake my head, sniffing. “It’s not your fault.”
“But it is He retorts. “It’s my fault. I made you marry me, it’s my f***g fault.”
1 shake my
head.
“Blame me, baby. You were right. I should stay away from you.” He adds on, “I don’t know what I was thinking this week, trying to
make you happy again.”
“I was happy,” I tell him, “This week was the happiest I have been in a long time.”
He looks at me with an emotion I don’t understand, his eyes’ rim red. “Hearing all this from you, I... it makes it all real. I think a
part of me hoped all this while that it wouldn’t be this bad. They wouldn’t have...”
Rage flickers in his eyes.
I blink, and more tears fall.
I snuggle back closer to him, and it takes him a moment before he puts his hand around me. Alex’s breathing was uneven.
“I’m safe here,” I whisper, referring to his arms.
Then you’ll stay here,” he promises, and I close my eyes, feeling his touch after days, hoping it would erase the bad memories
and nightmares.
1 fall asleep that way.
