His Wife (A Contract Marriage Story) by Heer Mangtani

Chapter 132

Chapter 132
[MIA]
Alex sat next to me on the plane, even though I knew that wasn’t his seat. He kept his hand on the aisle between us, in case I
wanted to hold it.
I didn’t.
Before leaving, I also visited Dominic, who was still in a COMA. Alex wasn’t happy about my demand, but he caved. I even made
a pit stop at Jenny’s. Apparently Alex had stationed a few guards outside her room, and that little girl had befriended them.
She was entertained and happy, and that was all that mattered.
Gabriel had been on calls since we had taken off, something about Ronan fucking up again. His words, not mine.
Alex hadn’t even touched his beloved iPad. I dozed off soon after, and somewhere along the way, my head fell on his shoulder.
I woke up when we landed only to find Alex looking at me with a soft gaze.
I had pulled away quickly.
At Gabriel and Sofia’s house, Aurora was waiting for us. She hugged her brother so quick like her life depended on it, and then
surprised me by engulfing me as well.
“Welcome to the family,” she smiled even though it didn’t reach her eyes.
Aurora was everything I am not. She was tall with a bigger–than–life aura, which I assumed was because of growing up with a
confident father like Gabriel and nurturing mother like Sofia. Her eyes were a hazel and her brown hair were in natural waves
braided messily.
“I’m so happy you’re here,” she tells me welcomingly when we were settled in. Aurora had her own apartment, but she
apparently spent more time at her parent’s house than her own. Then she faces her brother. “Skye’s back, by the way.”
“Skye?” The question escapes me before I could stop.

“Skye is our friend’s daughter.” Sofia answers. Gabriel already left for work, and I could see where Alex got his workaholic genes
from.
I waited for more context, which Aurora provided. “She’s like two years younger to us, and she was my best–friend growing up.
Fun fact: she crushed on Alex since she knew what a crush meant.”

Chapter 132
“Oh.” I replied, not sure what I should say to that. Alex never mentioned her even in passing, but again, he wasn’t
exactly a sharer.
“He broke her heart when she was sixteen by rejecting her.” Aurora adds, looking smug. “So she left to study
abroad.”
My eyes widen, flickering between the twins. “She left the country because Alex broke her heart?”
“Can you both not be dramatic?” Alex looks like he wanted to roll his eyes. “She’s a child. She’s been following me
like a puppy since she could walk. She got over it.”
“I’m sure she did.” Aurora nods with a fake sweetness. “She’s coming over tomorrow, by the way.”
“Don’t care.” Her brother replied.
“Why did you reject her?” I ask in a small voice.

“Yes, Alex, why did you reject her?” Aurora looked visibly mad at Alex, and I think that was because she was irritating him.
Alex glares at his sister before turning to me. “She’s a kid. She wasn’t my type.”
“Then who is your type?” Aurora bats her eyelashes innocently.
“My wife is.” Alex replied, and I blinked in surprise.
For the first time in the past two weeks, I felt the urge to smile again. To blush again.
“I see.” Aurora just smirked. “Your wife,” she taunts, “is staying with me for the night. Girls sleepover!”
“Not happening, Auro.”
“Happening. Right, Mia?”
“Sure?” I offered.
“Told ya.” Aurora shows him her tongue. “Besides, there’s so much I have to tell her about you.”
“Aurora.” Alex warns, “She’s on medicines. She needs to rest.”
“And what are you? Her nurse?”
“No, her husband.”
“Last I checked, she was your colleague’s sister. Or was that a lie too? Do you even have secret kids I should know.

“Aurora.”
“No,” Aurora shakes her head, tears filling in her eyes. “You’re my twin. You’re literally a part of me. It was supposed to be us
against the world. How could you get married like that?” She sniffs.

Alex sighs. I feel guilty too, even though I was nowhere at fault. I was blackmailed to walk down that aisle. “Aurora, it happened
so quick...”
“I don’t care, okay?” She cuts him off. “I always thought it was us against the world. Even when I’m here and you’re doing your
Mafia things, I thought we’ll always have each other.”
“And we will. I promise.” Alex tells her affectionately, attempting to move from his side of the couch to hers, but before he could,
she shakes her head and walks off.
Alex sighs telling us he’ll be back and follows her.
Sofia, who had been a silent spectator to all of this just shakes her head.
“I feel bad,” I tell her softly. “I’m also to blame.”
“Nonsense. If I know my son, this was all his fault.” She says. “But don’t worry, they will work it out, the two of them.”
I nod reluctantly, and she smiles, about to ask me something when Ronan enters.
He throws himself on the couch, placing his head on my lap.
“Hi, sis–in–law.” He says with a smile. I could see Sofia shaking her head some more with an exasperated breath and then
excusing herself to take a call.
“Hi Ronan?” I offer.
“It’s Ron.” He replies, the smile not leaving his face. “I really thought I had a chance with you. And here, you brother–zoned me.”
A giggle escapes me. “How are you, Ron?”
“Not good ever since I found out you chose my dick of an elder brother over me.” He feigns a wounded expression. “And look at
the rock he’s put on your finger? What was he thinking? That NASA should be able to see it from space?”
“And yet, you can’t.” Alex’s irritated voice cuts through, and I look up to see the twins walk in again.
“I can. It’s baby pink. A flower too. How many diamonds are these? Ten?”

“If you can see the ring, Ronan, I’m sure you know who made her wear that ring. Me. My wife.” Alex replies, still sounding pissed.
“So stop touching her before I make you, and it won’t be in a pretty way.”
I shake my head while Ronan straightens himself, smirking. “My, my. Did you ever think we’d see this side of Alex?” Ronan asks
Aurora in a teasing manner.
“Nope. Is she allowed male doctors or is that no–go too, caveman?”
Alex glares at his siblings before sitting on the couch beside me, resting his head behind me, but not quite touching me.
The other two just laugh, and I shake my head too, subconsciously leaning closer to my husband.
Despite being on rocky terms with Alex, this still felt like family, and I loved it
