His Wife (A Contract Marriage Story) by Heer Mangtani

Chapter 118

Chapter 118
[MIA]
“No!” The words fling out of my mouth before I can catch them. I blink, unsure if I even heard the insane man in front of me
correctly.
He’ll marry me. “You’ll marry me?” I mocked, “Nol”
His eyes twitch. “The only way I cannot marry Hannah is, well, if I’m already married to someone else.”
“So you want me to be your fake wife?!”
“No. What the hell is a fake wife?” He had the audacity to sound offended by my opinion
marriage. “I am going to marry you. For real.”
As if I was the one who casually suggested
“And I get no say in it?!” I demanded.
“Of course you get a say.” His stance softens considerably. “Which designer should design your wedding dress? Ellie Saab?
Wang?”
My lips open, and they close again before I angrily hiss, “That’s all the opinion I get?”
“You can decide the colour scheme of the flowers?” He offers oh–so–much. “And the witnesses.”
I stare at the insufferable man. “Alex, we’ve been on one date. One. I am not marrying you.”
“That is one thing you’re not going to have an opinion on.”
“Good luck forcing my corpse down the aisle because there’s no way I’m going to walk down alive.”
His eyes darkened. “We’ll see about that.”
“We are seeing about that,” I huff. “I told you everything you wanted to know since the day I met you. Now, I’m going to walk
through those doors and go home. If you want to stop me, drive a bullet through my head.”

Alex rolls his eyes.
He. Rolled. His. Eyes.
“No need for dramatics.”
I glare at him with a fire in me that wasn’t getting put out anytime soon, taking a step away to walk out just like I had promised
but I hadn’t even taken a second step before one his hands wraps around my arm, pulling me back in place.
“Don’t make me take drastic measures, Mia,” he warns.
“Like? I don’t know? Suggesting you’ll marry me without my consent?”
“There is no suggestion there. It is happening.”
“In your dreams.”
Chapter 118
“You are going to walk down that aisle and say those vows, and it’s going to happen sooner than you think. Whether you want to
do it with a smile on your lips or screaming and crying is your choice.”
“Alex, you don’t understand!” I shout, frustrated, tears threatening to fill in again a family, okay? I didn’t have parents or anyone. I
dreamt of this all my life. I dr perfect proposal and the perfect wedding and a perfect marriage. A perfect fam.. didn’t have

“Who said I’m taking anything away from you?” He retorts, gaze and tone softening again. “You can still have whatever you want.
Dictate your dream wedding and I’ll make it happen. Describe your dream ring and I’ll search the world for it. Name what you
want and it will be yours.”
“A family,” I whisper, tears spilling out. “I want a family. Kids.”

He stares at me. One moment passes. Another. “If children is what you want, we will have them.”
My lips part in surprise. “In this world?!” I ridiculed, “You want to bring children in your world? You were attacked in your own
house, Alex! We couldn’t step out for a date without hundred of your men armed with enough weaponry to wage a war. You want
to bring children in this
world?”
“I want whatever would make you happy. If it is children, then that, yes.”
I inhale and then lick my lips before shaking my head. He just doesn’t understand. “Your life is dangerous, and exhausting. What
would make me happy is not being a part of this world.”
“You not being a part of my life would make you happy?”
I just stare at him, not knowing what the correct answer is. I had known Alex for sometime over a month, bordering to a month
and a half, but he had inscribed himself in the deepest parts of me, made me feel things nobody ever has. Would I be happy by
removing myself out of his life? Probably not. “It’s your world that I have an issue with,” 1 carefully word.
“Then you’ll get over it,” he nonchalantly replied. My lips fall apart again. “I will protect you till you’re comfortable with the life I
lead.”
“And what about love, Alex?” I whispered.
“What about it?”
“Will you ever love me?”
He doesn’t reply. One heartbeat passes. And then another. A part of me hoped he would agree to what I had asked for just like
he had when I said I wanted children. But no reply comes, the silence over us loud and heavy.
I wanted to scoff under my breath, but I find myself captivated by his scrutinising gaze.
“We’ll get married soon,” he replies instead.
“No!”

“Mia.”
“No!” I yell. “Let me go, Alex. I want to go home! Let. Me. Go!”
“You are home.”

Chapter 118
“This cage isn’t my home!” I cry out, trying to wiggle out of his hold with all my strength. “I want to go! Let me go, Alex.”
He just sighs, my efforts vain in front of how strongly he gripped me. “If I leave you
Ju try to walk away?”
“I will walk away.” I hiss, “There is not going to be any try about it. Unless you can ask one of your guards to-”
Alex shuts me up with his palm over my mouth, taking an exasperated breath. My muffled voice still makes it out from under his
palm, and he looks like he wanted to roll his eyes.
“Take her to her room, Lana.” Alex tells my keeper, one I had forgotten was a candid listener to this conversation. “Lock her
inside and you stay in with her.”
My eyes widen. “You cannot do this!” I say the moment he lets me go and Lana holds me. “Alex! Alex!”
I keep shouting his name and cursing profanities that he pays no head to, just rubbing his forehead with his thumb and middle
finger while looking away from me as if he was carrying all the weight in the world on his shoulders.
I try wiggling out of Lana’s hold too, but that woman was surprisingly strong as she drags me to my room and does exactly what
her boss told her to.
Locks me in.
