Chapter 100
Chapter 100
(ALEX]
The party that Uncle Damien Kad hosted came around sooner than I wanted. Firstly, I wasn’t a very social person, especially not
for Mafia gatherings. And secondly, a girl that I had completely forgotten about was in attending too.
Wearing her blonde hair straight, her green eyes found me amongst the crowd when I walked in, and she walked to me with
confident strides, a frown etched on her lips that disappeared soon after she realised the setting she was in.
“Hannah,” I greeted her, trying to keep the disinterest out of my voice for appearances sake.
As beautiful as she was, she just wasn’t my type.
“Fiancé,” she greeted me back, her sweet voice dripping with a sarcasm I didn’t appreciate. “Is this something you do often? Get
engaged out of business deals and then ghost the girl?”
“Keep your voice down,” I hiss, grabbing her wrist and pulling her into one of the corners where no one could hear us.
“Ow.” She winced, pulling her hand back to herself the moment I set her free, staring at me like I was a monster. “I wouldn’t have
to do this if you would have returned ONE of the ten calls I made to you. One, King, one.”
“And yet, you couldn’t take the hint and stop calling..” I roll my eyes. “Hannah, I really am sorry for you that your father pawned
you off to me for a business deal. Really.” I had no sympathy.
“You’re not. So drop the act.”
“You don’t talk to me that way,” I warn her, my patience up, eyes staring into hers. One glare and I could see her confidence
slipping. “You don’t talk to me, period. This isn’t a fairy tale that begins with an arranged marriage and ends with us falling in love.
This is just a business deal that I will find a way to get out of.”
Her eyes bulged. “You- you will find a way to get out of it?”
“I will,” I reply, voice hushed. “The engagement is between me, your dad, and the Pakhan. I am working on another way to make
a deal with your father, one that doesn’t involve marrying you, and I will get it done before we have to announce this to the
world.”
“Okay.” She softens.
I c**k an eyebrow.
She nods. “I got you. Clear. Okay.”
“Good.”
return to the party, filled with every business associate of the Bratva- past, preset and future. Nobody can refuse an invitation
from the Pakhan.
Dom stands a feet away from me at all times as I grab a glass of whiskey and make my rounds around the hall, talking to people
I hated and I was sure who hated me in return.
This whole world was a charade, and only those who learnt playing it by their own rules could make it
out alive. Everyone else was simply a pawn.
An hour into the unbearable gathering when I was wondering if this appearance is considered enough and I could leave, Uncle
Damien draws everyone’s attention by ringing his spoon on his whiskey glass.
“As you all know, this party I host is an annual event,” he acknowledged after clearing his throat. “However, there is something
this year that makes it so special.”
I furrow my eyebrows, eyes reaching to Nico, whose eyes flicker back to me, confused mirrored. Xander was grinning like a fool,
but again, when is he

not?
“I am so proud to announce,” his attention draws to me, and my eyebrows shoot up. “My nephew Alex King is the new horseman
of my inner circle.”
I force a light smile to my lips as claps echoed, but it didn’t ease the worry beginning to pool inside me. “And, it is my honour to
announce his engagement to Hannah Terrano, the daughter of the governor.”
The smile disappears from Hannah’s lips while mine increases as I step ahead walk to Hannah does the same, followed by her
father, the f**g governor.
my Uncle to grab his forwarded hand into a firm shake, and
Rings were pulled out and pictures were clicked, and the suffocation that I had been feeling intuitively all evening finally had a
cause- I was now engaged in front of the entire world.
Tignore Dominic’s knowing stare, just as I ignore Hannah’s panicked eyes on m
for every second after that.
However, she wasn’t the girl plaguing my thoughts, and I had to figure it all out, including why a certain grey eyed brunette was
all I could keep thinking
about.
I returned home exhausted from all the smiling, with Hannah constantly trying to steal a moment with me alone to talk to me and
me avoiding her like a plague.
Dominic cleared his throat on the way back, him being the only one in the car with me. Rest of the guards were in three cars in
front of me and four
behind me.
“Sir, Hannah is calling,” he told me, “Or should I say Mrs. King?”
I glared at him.
He raised his shoulders.
“Send her to voicemail.”
“Sir, also, Lana had called.”
I c**k an eyebrow. “Since when does Lana call you?”
“Since you kept a stray at home and asked me and Lana to supervise her at all times. Respectfully,” he sassed.
I give him an icy stare that shuts his sass up. “I asked Lana to supervise her, not you.”
“Lana let me know that she was fidgety all day. Sad, even. Skipped dinner. The same thing she did last Sunday.”
I groaned. Can this girl do anything except make my life harder?
Sometimes I really question why I had to get her to my house.
Why couldn’t I just drive the bullet through her head?
I needed to yell. To scream. To punish.
I bang her door, and nobody opens. Once. Twice. Thrice. Who the f**k allowed her to lock it from inside too?
On the sixth time that I bang the door and contemplate breaking it, she opens while rubbing her eyes, her hair collected on one
side of her shoulder and her night shorts a little too short.
“Al-Alex?” Her sleepy voice was groggy, husky, and borderline seductive. Like a f**g siren that calls to me. “What’s wrong?”
“You skipped dinner.”

“Huh?” She blinks. “What?”
“You skipped dinner.” I comment, stepping in the room, shutting the door behind me. “What did I tell you would happen if you
disobey me?”
“You-you will punish me.” She gulps, taking a step back, a glint in her eyes.
“And do you want to be punished, Mia?”
She stares at me with the same arousal in her eyes, and I knew her mind was giving her flashbacks from the time I made her o r
g a m on my tongue.
“Do you want to be punished, Mia?” I repeat, more slowly, dangerously.
“Will I enjoy it?” She asks in a mumble.
“That depends. Are willing to risk to find out?”
She shivers, before nodding.
I really try concealing the lopsided smile that spreads on me and fail miserably. “Get on your knees.”
