His Unwanted Wife Again

Chapter Chapter One

Two years later.......

Sabrina sat at a small children's table. Across from her was a little boy named Emmet. He was special needs, diagnosed with Down syndrome. Next to him was a little girl named Annie, she was diagnosed with autism. "It's coloring time okay." She lets them know while handing them a sheet of paper with a colorless duck.

She watched the way they spoke to each other and worked together. It was the cutest thing. She loved working at Hawkins's special needs school for children. She was only an assistant because she wasn't qualified but still, being able to work with them, gave her joy.

"I'll be right back ok guys." She says excuses herself. She needed a moment to herself. Some days were good and some days were horrible. Today was one of the bad ones. She squeezes between the other tables and makes her way into the bathroom.

"You're not going to cry." She orders herself while looking into the mirror.

Waking up this morning she does her usually. She starts boiling water for her tea, brushes her teeth, and turns on the morning news. It had been a whole month since she switched to the business channel. One whole month. She was so strong until she gave in today, and out of all days, today was the day they showed a picture of Nathan and the date he took to a charity event. Calling it a huge success, raising over half a million dollars.

She should have been well practiced for seeing him with other women but it hurt just as much as it always does.

As she continues to glare at her self, she beats herself up, as she always did. She was back at home with her mother, because she couldn't just control her emotions. She always looks back wishing she could turn back the hands of time. Wishing she could slap some sense into herself.

Past.

Sabrina sat at the kitchen counter looking at that morning newspaper.

The headline read. "Nathan Alden's wife expecting!"

They were in the paper every week because of the ongoing trial against Desmond. It was front-page news. "Desmond Alden on trial for attempted murder against daughter-in-law."

She had just begun her sixth month of pregnancy and was showing now to the point where they could no longer hide it. So now she was looking at the best picture they could have gotten of her baby bump.

Everyone in the world knew now. They were especially trying to hide it from Nathan's parents. Desmond was out on bail, and Nathan didn't put anything past him.

"Ready sweetheart?" Nathan asks from behind her. She turns around to look at her astonishing husband. He was wearing his usual suit and tie. A navy blue one today. She wore a simple black maternity dress and black heels. They were heading out for court this morning. Today was the day both Sabrina and Nathan were going to take the stand.

"Yes." She replies waddling out of her chair.

"Don't read the paper. It will give you a headache." He kisses her cheek and takes her hand to lead her out of the door.

Once in the truck, there was silence.

She was nervous. She now had to confront all these men, including Desmond.

She had to tell the Judge her side. That's she was 100% sure that she heard correctly. That she heard Desmond Alden's voice in that van. Not to mention Nathan had to speak against his father. It was kinda sad that he had to go against his family for her.

"How's my son?" Nathan reaches out and places his hand on her stomach. He didn't look nearly as nervous as she did.

"Sleeping." She says covering his hands with hers. They were so happy waiting for the arrival of their son. They just wanted all of the nightmares of going to trial to be over so they get to enjoy this time.

He shifts from the road to her. "Everything is going to be okay."

She nods her head in reply.

The day drags on in court. When it was time for Sabrina to tell her story that's exactly what she did. She didn't look any man in the face. She didn't want to. Her baby didn't need the stress that it caused her. She looked at the lawyer and answered his questions truthfully.

Desmond's defense lawyer tried to tell her she was too dazed to know what she was hearing.

"How can you be so sure?" He glares at her accusingly. But she didn't back down. She was firm with her answer.

"I know what I heard." She looked to Nathan for strength and could see his jaw tightening. He gave the lawyer a death glare like he wanted to strangle him.

Later, when he took the stand he looked at Desmond in the eyes and told the judge and jurors the whole truth. From Ben Reed's lost sketch to Desmond's hatred for Sabrina's family. He spoke the truth with no exaggeration. Once court was over they both felt relieved. They held hands and walked to the truck parked in the street.

Nathan releases her hand only to open the door for her. He makes sure she was sitting comfortably and closes the door. He walks around the front on his way to the driver's side.

Suddenly, the sound of a speeding car catches both of their attention.

Sabrina gasps when she sees Desmond's Royals Royce heading straight towards her.

She had no time to react. She squeezes her eyes shut and covers her stomach. "Nathan!" She cries out.

The Suv is struck so hard that it was pushed into the salon it was parked in front of. Nathan managed to get himself out of harm's way, but the car jerking causes Sabrina to be thrown onto the dashboard. "Ahhhhh!" She screams feeling pain on all parts of her body.

Desmond looks Nathan in the eyes viciously before backing his car up and speeding off. But Nathan didn't have the time to be angry at the moment.

"Sabrina!" He shouts running towards her. His whole life was in that passenger seat. He tried to open the door, but it was stuck. The doors were smashed in. The windows were tinted and bulletproof so he couldn't see her. He walks around trying to get a peek at her from the windshield. He could barely see. Her hands and long hair rested across the driver's seat. Pieces of glass lay in her hair, and blood on her fingers.

"Fuck!" He shouts. He looks around at onlookers in the street. "Someone call an ambulance!" He runs to the other side of the vehicle. It jammed into the side of the store, smashed in from crumbling bricks "I'm coming sweetheart, Stay strong for me."

Sabrina was curled up on the seat feeling like she couldn't move. She could hear Nathan trying to get into the jammed doors.

She was trying to yell back to him, but she was too weak. Blood began to blur her vision. She tried to move her left hand to wipes it off but couldn't. "Ouch."She feels pain. Her wrist was fractured. She moves the other hand and is able to wipe the blood clean. She then touches a wound on her head and felt more pain.

She starts hearing Nathan kicking the door becoming increasingly frustrated, yelling for someone to get help. But the sounds were fading and she struggled to keep her eyes open. She was fighting herself to stay conscious for her son's sake. Luckily, sirens began ringing in her ears. It became the only thing keeping her alert.

Finally, she hears a tearing and the complete dismemberment of the door.

"I've got her." Once the door was open Nathan didn't give the firefighter a chance to attempt to save Sabrina before he rushed in.

Stay with me." He begged gently as he scooped her into his arms.

"Nathan our baby." She whimpers out.

"It's going to be okay. You're going to be okay. The baby is going to be ok." He reassures her.

"Ahhh!" She screams suddenly. She was having contractions. Something was definitely wrong with the baby.

Nathan looks down at her in panic. "Help is here sweetheart." He carries her to an ambulance.

When they arrived at the hospital, she was rushed into the ER.

The doctors checked the baby's heartbeat first thing, but couldn't hear anything. To say that their hearts fell from their chest was an understatement. They kept hope that the baby was still alive. One hour later she delivered her baby boy. But there was silence in the room.

She prayed so hard that she would hear a cry from her son. But nothing.

She looks up at the doctor and nurses. They all had grim faces. A nurse carries the tiny infant into another room as doctors continued to work on her.

"Please bring my son back!" She panicked.

Nathan stands up to block her view from the baby.

"Nathan, our baby!" She looks to him for reassurance. "It's going to be okay love."

Once her doctor, Dr. Short, finished with her. She looked at them sympathetically. "I'm sorry."

"Please don't say it." She begged with a brittle voice.

She stops speaking for a momentary. "I'm sorry for your loss Mr. and Mrs. Alden.." She was incapable of telling them that she had a stillborn. She leaves the room quietly. Nathan stood frozen at Sabrina's side. His hand firm on hers. He grabs Sabrina's chin and forces her to look at him in the eyes. "We are going to get through this." "No...Nathan...No..."She weeps into his chest. "My baby!" She pounds on his chest suddenly. "Let me go! Let me go! Please! Please!" She begs uncaring of her bandaged wrist.

He takes the abuse at first, but then he grabs her hands and forces her arms around his neck forcing her to hug him. He holds on to her for a long time neither one of them speaking. She cried violently. "Mr. And Mrs. Alden?" A blond nurse holding the baby wrapped in a white and blue blanket.

They both look up at her. "I'm so sorry for your loss." She puts the unmoving infant into Sabrina's arms.

"I'll give you some time alone." She closes the door softly as she leaves.

Sabrina clutches onto the baby gazing down at the sweet face of her child. She didn't speak, and neither did Nathan. For a long time, they were fascinated. "What should we name him?"

"Auden, "He responds" It was a name they were fighting over. He wanted Austin and she wanted Auden.

"Auden." She says mesmerized by his tiny fingers. "Mommy loves you, Auden."

Nathan moved behind her suddenly and wrapped his arms around her waist. He pressed his face into her upper back and his chest began to shake as he silently wept. She takes her free bandaged hand and hugs his head. It was the saddest, hardest moment of their lives.

It was one thing after the other for them. They were too happy. She knew it. Everything was too perfect in her life. It was all too good to be true. She asked herself every day over the last months. Could she be that lucky to have the happiest marriage and a child on the way? It was supposed to be the start of a new beginning as a family. Now it was just a tragedy.

Days later they had a funeral for Auden Jace Alden. They made sure he knew he was loved and that he would be missed. A piece their souls was ripped away that day.

Present

Sabrina washes her hands and places her cool hands behind her neck. She lets out a breath and wills her self to be strong. She knew she was going to have to live with this pain every day for the rest of her life. She knew it would be there every moment of the day. Sometimes the pain may subside but it will never go away.
