Falcon’s POV~

Exhausted. That is the only word to describe what we felt, when we arrived back home. Now we are all sitting in the conference room because it’s going to be another busy day. Benjamin and Agnes will be here soon so I can hear their story. Anna and Alec are gleaning all the information they can from the council’s servers. I may be the enforcer for the council…but now I am thinking they are the ones who need policing!

Axel tells us “There are fourteen situations where the council has fined hunters for killing lone wolves. That has only been the past fifteen years. Prior to that…lone wolves were captured by a special ops group founded by the council and then sold to packs for free labor. The sold wolves then had to work in the pack to pay the amount back to the Alphas. I am assuming that’s what happened to Benjamin and Agnes. The logic the council used for selling them was to keep them from going feral. Fifteen years ago, the council changed the laws. Allowing lone wolves to petition for that status. The ones who don’t apply for the exemption are considered rogue..therefore allowing hunters to murder them. And if the hunters fuck up and accidentally kill a lone wolf, they are fined anywhere from $5,000 to $25,000…depending on age. The fines are to be paid to existing family members, unless there are none. Then the money is supposed to be given to organizations that help lone wolves get established in the world. That isn’t happening..and we are running the money down now.”

I feel an intense anger and realize it’s coming from my mate. I pull her into my lap and help her calm down.. “We will figure it out, mi amor. And we will expose anyone not following the law! Even if it’s council members.”

Brady opens the door to let Benjamin and his family in…along with Xavier. Once everyone is seated, he spoke “Alpha, we cannot thank you enough for this opportunity! We have been indentured for so long, I fear it will take us awhile to acclimate to freedom of any kind.” I hold my hand up “No need for thanks! We are pack now and pack help one another! Xavier tells me you worked in metal..welding..things like that, yeah?” At his nod, I continue “We have a metalsmith shop…in charge of sharpening all our blades, as well as fashioning them. If you are interested in that, I can have Marcus take you over to meet the foreman. Agnes, I was told you were a schoolteacher, at one time? We have an opening for our preschool aged pups…needing a teacher.. and Victoria…we have openings on our kitchen staff, if you’re interested.. I understand you like to bake? Now…understand…you will earn a paycheck…everyone here gets paid.. You are required to pay your own utilities and of course, personal items for your home. Meals are always available to all pack members in the dining hall…but not mandatory, unless requested. Any questions?”

Agnes looks flabbergasted “We get paid? And we get to keep it?” Anna nods “ You have been cheated out of so much! That changes now! You will need to go to the boutique in town..and sign for clothing for all of you. BJ needs school supplies and clothes. Make sure to get him a heavy winter coat..whatever you need!” Victoria remarks “We don’t know how to thank you! This is new for us. And so different!” I nod and let them know their lives can only get better, now.

After the Andrews all left to find their place in the pack…Axel jumped up…excited! “We’re in… we can read emails and hear phone calls..conversations in the offices.. hacking the computers gave us access to the webcams and not one of them appears to be shut off! There are currently seven emails from Hunter’s Glen on Councilman Henderson’s server. The latest one is dated four days ago. Here… listen..

In response to inquiries regarding Amber Moon.. our contact fell through and is no longer a viable source of information. Alpha Rivera has reportedly taken a mate..and it’s feared it may be the girl in question. Culver is gathering troops and it seems an attack is imminent. Cyrus has developed a new weapon…he has found a way to incorporate wolfsbane into silver bullets .. and upon impact, the round shatters, releasing enough poison to inhibit the wolf for an hour or more.. depending on the strength of the wolf. Please advise on continuing aid to Culvers.. or pulling back. Still awaiting payment on the three rogues you requested we eliminate last week.”

Are they fucking kidding me right now? “Axel… find out if Crockett is involved! Henderson is his right hand! If this shit goes all the way to the top… I have to contact the monarchy! Fuck!” Anna says “Listen… Henderson is on the phone”

“Listen Nathan! The payment hasn’t been approved. Everett wants the payments audited.. he got suspicious about the 50K we paid you for the kills out of Cheyenne..saying they weren’t sanctioned! You have to send evidence the Beckett’s presented viable threats. Have you found the husband? ….. No! I want no interaction with you or Culver that can be documented! Especially if the council enforcer is involved! Rivera is fully under protection of the crown! Everett is my superior and actual friends with him! He respects him and will share any information he discovers with this audit. Don’t call me here, anymore.. it’s not a secure line.”

FUCK! I guess that answers a few questions and raises a million more! “Brady.. send a runner out to Alvin’s camp. Tell him I have some pertinent information that pertains to his family and I am requesting he move his troupe onto pack lands.. They need protection and I can’t provide that unless they are within our borders!”

Anna said “ From that conversation.. even though it was one-sided.. it is safe to assume the Culvers and that Nathan Henry guy are in cahoots. The thing we have to our benefit.. is the fact they don’t know our gifts..immunity to wolfsbane being one of them!

But, we also learned that Henderson is feeding the hunters names of people he wants eliminated..the whys of that are still a conundrum! Something warns me it goes beyond simple rogue status.. it feels too personal and specific! He ordered the deaths of Alvin’s mate and son without precedence.. then paid Nathan for those murders! But… somehow.. those hits caught the attention of Everett Crockett… So why those names.. why that payout? What about them threw up the red flags? Too many moving pieces and we need to see how they fit together!”

I smirk.. “Be ready to roll out by 9 in the morning! It’s time I show my team around Council Headquarters! Let’s call it “Introducing My Luna!”
