Falcon’s POV~

When we finally made it to bed…I made love to my mate until near dawn. My little energizer bunny! I’m seriously considering replacing her coffee with decaf! She sets her mind to something and refuses to take a break until she succeeds. And she was successful! She hacked Robert’s emails..and we found that he had indeed been contacted by Culver… however…from the emails, it was only recently…and Robert had set up the appointment with us several weeks before the first missive. So now…we are all back in the conference room.. and we could cut the tension with a knife!

Anna sighs…”Allison…stare at my coffee for a few minutes…your heated glare should warm it back up for me…thanks” and she smiles…benignly.. My little instigator! Allison shoots back “Stare at it yourself “ and I wait…3…2…1..”Won’t work…I’m not heated enough..yet! Snappy retort, though! Kudos!” And Brady can’t contain it…. Robert snaps his eyes to me “Control your Beta!” I smirk “He’s a whole grown assed man! You control him!” And Anna lost it!

I figured I’d take a shot at verbally dancing with this idiot “Tell me about Culver, Robert” and we watched as he lost color and sweat popped out his forehead… Anna links me 🐺 He’s processing the lie…making sure it’s plausible… and I nod.. then I look at Peter… sitting there..arms crossed over his chest.. completely amused. Hmmm…interesting! 🐺 Baby…I’m going to try mind sight on Pete.. 🐺 He does look unbothered… interesting! Let me know what you see! I close my eyes…concentrating on Peter’s brain waves..and I hear him…

“Let’s see you get out of this…fucker! I can’t wait until you’re caught out! Go on! Tell them who you really are! Fucking asshole! Put your hands on MY mate again! You’re only breathing because you’re her children’s father! Swear to Goddess!! If I wasn’t oath sworn, I would tell them everything! Talk your way out of this, asshole! Tell Falcon! I pulled my mind back… 🐺 Baby. I want you to make an excuse to leave..long enough to get your father’s books.. I need to check something. Peter’s mind is a mess and I believe Luna Lindsey may be his true mate! She jumps up and yells “I gotta pee” running out of the room. Axel loses his shit! “We have the classiest Luna on the planet!” We laugh…except Charlotte and Allison..but who cares about them anyway!

I sneer “Robert! How do you know Emmett Culver? I am in no mood to play right now! At 2:30 this morning, I issued an order. 150 of my finest warriors were deployed to your pack in the Sierra Nevadas! With my delta and head warrior at the helm! With express order to answer aggression with deadly force. Last time I ask…who is Culver?”

Anna comes back in and slides her father’s books over to me…then she growls “I passed your Luna in the hall…did you touch her? Did you black her eye and split her lip? Did you kick her ribs in? You have until the count of three to answer me! One….Two…Three… “ He didn’t answer…and she bounced his head off the table! Bounced. His. Head! Like a fucking basketball! She turned to Peter and said “Go to your mate! She will heal faster!” And he was gone in a flash. She turned to me and says “I bookmarked the records of families….each name recorded…and I gotta say.. I didn’t see that coming!”

Allison asks “Why did you send our Beta after my mother?” Anna looks at her…then at Charlotte…and back “Why do you let your sorry excuse of a father beat the woman who gave birth to you? The woman whose Alpha mantle will fall to you, if she doesn’t mark her true mate? And are you aware that same mantle is useless to you if you don’t mark your true mate? And here’s the kicker! And my own personal favorite…since you are not the child of her true mate…when she does…and She Will…mark her true mate…the mantle will go to their first born! Ahahaha! Good times!” And we all laughed! Allison said “I’m confused. You didn’t answer why Peter went to my mom!” Anna looks at me with a ‘What the fuck’ look and answers her..again..”Damn girl! Apparently, you were born confused and been losing ground ever since! I. Sent. Peter. To. Your. Mother….because he IS her true mate…you Fucknut!” And we watched Axel fall out of his chair laughing “See?? Classy as fuck!” We finally calmed down…as we watched Peter come back in with Lindsey. Anna walked over to her and touched her ribs…then her cheek..and came back to me, climbing into my lap.

I looked at Robert.. I said “You have stubbornly refused to answer my questions.. So, I am going to tell you a story. Your Luna and daughters should find this interesting… 12 years ago…a fair and just Alpha punished a member of his own pack…sentenced him to twenty lashes and hard labor at the pack’s farms….for trying to rape a 14 year old child! A child!! After that man was whipped…this just Alpha ordered him to the infirmary to be treated. I tell you that story…to tell you this…a small girl..a child…felt that criminal’s pain through her pack bond. And, being an empathetic healer…found her way to the infirmary to heal the man….when she got there…there was a boy in the man’s room..he saw that tiny girl…that child and decided he wanted her. He grabbed her…threw her into a closet..beat her and tried to rape her…in fighting him, she bit two of his fingers off. Luckily…the Alpha found her before the worst could happen. Come to find out…that boy…was the youngest son to the rapist he had to whip! The Alpha had no other choice but to banish the entire family. The man..his mate..and their 3 children! Now Robert! HOW DO YOU KNOW EMMETT CULVER!? And I dare your fucking ass to try and lie to me!”

Robert mumbles “ He is my brother… I am the oldest.. and already mated to Lindsey. That isn’t the story I was told… that can’t be how it happened!” I spin the book around and say “These are the personal and pack journals of Alpha Malachai Berlin of Silver Blade Pack. The entire series of events are catalogued in detail in here! Silver Blade Pack is the second pack….that we know of…that your brother raided…attacked…and murdered every pack member before he burned it to the ground. Think about that…Every single pack member! All because a little girl…a Baby…bit his fingers off trying to protect herself! The apple did not fall far from the tree! Read, Robert! Then read it again!

I look at everyone in the room. I squeeze Anna tighter to me. She spins her tiny body and straddles my lap…I glance at Brady and he hands me a throw. I wrap it around her and tuck it tight..I kiss her just below her ear…and I hear it…her small sobs and I feel her tears soaking into my shirt! My babygirl is hurting! And I am ready to tear down the gates of hell for her!

Robert looked across the table at me. “I don’t know what you expect me to do with this? My father tells it differently.. it’s a he said she said situation. And I am not my brother’s keeper! Even if Emmett did those things to that little girl, he was just a boy, himself. And all he has asked of me is to keep an eye out for a young woman whose description fits your mate. And I let him know that she could be who he is searching for..that’s really all I can tell you” and before I could get up to kill this piece of shit…Lindsey jumped to her feet and screamed “You did what??? You traitor! You worthless scum! I, Lindsey…oh fuck…what is your last name. .I Lindsey Culver, reject you , Robert Culver as my mate now and forever! You are not a man! You are lower than a snake’s belly! You would aid a rapist! Help a murderer! I had reached a point I struggled to abide you…now..I abhor you! I hope you rot in hell! And You…Allison..Charlotte…side with him…in any way.. and I will disown you! As of right now..the pack is rightfully mine! Once my mate has marked me..the mantle passes to him! Excuse us..Alpha, Luna…we have a date!” And she damned near dragged Pete out the room….while Robert and his daughters sat there shell shocked!

Anna lifted her head long enough to say “Not how you saw this day going…huh!!?” And we laughed!
