Chapter Surprise!
"Why didn't you stop last night!" I snapped at Izzy who was grinning like a maniac from beside me, making me groan in annoyance. My head is throbbing and I feel like I am going to puke my guts out at this rate. We were in a taxi in my hometown going to my home. It was a bad idea to drink last night and another mistake was flying the next morning with a bitch of a hangover.
"I warned you, Fay but you were so competitive with Daniel that you didn't listen." I know I should have listened to her but the way Daniel was provoking me to compete with him with how many shots we can take in a minute and that minutes turn into hours with us downing all types of alcohol.
"That devil in the form of a human is so evil." I gritted out hearing a chuckle from Izzy.
"You are the same as him, Fay so don't curse him." It's the best hangover as I am not thinking about anything other than the raging headache. There are no nerves or anything about running to the real devil of my life.
"I am going to crash in my bed as soon as we reach home." I mentally drooled at the image of my room and bed calling for me to embrace it. The hangover is making me a drama queen.
The taxi stopped in front of my home and I pushed back my sunglasses to hide my bloodshot eyes from my parents who were waiting on the porch. It's been so long since I have seen them in person and I really missed them.
Izzy and I got out of the car and paid the driver. The driver had already taken our bags from the car. I ran towards my parents and engulfed them in a hug surrounding myself with their familiar warmth and scent. I missed their hugs and love so damn much.
"I missed you guys so much." they kissed my head murmuring they missed me too.
"Let's get inside, you reek of ten different kinds of alcohol." Mom Scrunched her face playfully, making me laugh at her.
"My new friend made me drink so much in the name of competing with each other and I have got a brutal hangover." I rubbed my temples suddenly feeling them throb intensely. Seeing my parents eased the pain but now it came back. "Who is that new friend?" mom wiggled her eyebrows in a playful manner showing her big grin.
"His name is Daniel Mrs. Moore." Izzy chimed in, making me glare at her. My mom's grin turns into a full-blown grin and her eyes are shining with curiosity.
"How many times did I tell you to call me Helena, Dear!" Mom gave Izzy a hug playfully glaring at her. Izzy had met my parents when they came to visit me, and they love her as much as they love Joanna.
"Sorry, Helena." Izzy gave my mom a shy smile turning towards my dad and greeting him calling him by his name too.
"Guys, Can I take a small nap?" I asked the three of them, I really need a nap right now otherwise my head is going to burst any second.
"Sure, darling. I will wake you up for dinner." My dad said taking my bag upstairs to my room and I followed him behind.
As soon as my dad left the room I pulled the sunglasses from my eyes and threw them somewhere not caring to change my clothes and slipped into a slumber in my soft bed and the familiar room and warmth surrounding me and despite the hangover and all but the sleep took me in instant with the familiar surroundings around me.
When I woke up my head felt light and my mood was pleasant. I turned my head toward my windows and it was ready dark. How much did I sleep? I stretched my body yawning while rising from the bed.
A low rumble came from my tummy making me halt in my step toward the bathroom. I haven't eaten anything since morning and only gulped down coffee and now I need food and I am starving.
I brushed my teeth to remove the remains of last night from my mouth and took a shower to wash out the alcohol from my pores. I have never drunk that much in my life and I am never going to drink that much again.
I passed out on the table in the club, and Izzy had to take me to the apartment by literally dragging me.
I left the room wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants feeling comfortable and content with a peaceful nap and coming home after a long time.
I can hear voices from downstairs making me smile, one of the voices is Joanna's. I hurried down the stairs to engulf her in a big hug but my legs came to a halt hearing a voice I am not ready for.
I'm on the last stair and if I take one more step then they will see me. Ugh! Why does he have to come and why? What the hell is he doing in my house? Shock turned Into anger and without thinking about anything I entered the living room with a blank face.
"It's good to see you all here." I gave a tight smile and turned towards Joanna to glare at her and I am yet to make eye contact with the devil in the room but I am buying time till I have to face him.
I may be looking so calm and collected outside but inside I am feeling all sorts of emotions running through me and the main one is Anger.
Joanna got up from the couch she is occupying and moved toward me with a blank face too. She is not a fan of Ezra but still, she is breathing in the same space as him right now and didn't come to my room to warn me that he is in my house sitting with my parents what made me boil is that Izzy has been ogling over him with big eyes and If I can see properly then I will find drool at the corner of her mouth.
"I just got here, If he had come after me then I would have warned you." She whispered in my ear, hugging me. I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her back.

Now I can see him sitting on the couch beside Izzy and our eyes meet making me suck in a breath with the way he is looking at me.
Like me, he also has a blank face not letting me see anything right now. In the past, I was able to read his every emotion and what he was thinking but right now I don't know who he is anymore.
Ezra stood up from the place he was occupying. He has changed so much but at the same time, he looks the same. His shoulders have become broader since the last time and he was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans which hugged his thick thighs.
When he moved toward me my eyes widened looking at the tattoos on his arms and neck making him look so lethal and powerful. He took long strides with powerful steps not breaking our eye contact. He is not this intimidating but right now any grown man can piss his pants seeing this giant man with muscles and tattoos.
Is he the same sweet Ezra who watched sappy romantic movies with me as he likes to call them? Is he the same boy who painted my toes and had sleepovers and did all the girly stuff with me growing up? Did two years change him so much that I am having a hard time looking for the old Ezra? Now he looks like a man with a mission and he can kill anyone with his glare.
I hugged Joanna tightly not wanting to let her go because I know the moment I let Joanna move away from me is the moment Ezra will occupy her place and occupy me with his intoxicative scent and warmth my body, head, and heart is not ready for.
He cleared his throat standing behind Joanna and our eye contact is still intact making me shudder with delight. It's not too good to be turned on right now and I don't want my body to react this way toward Ezra, he doesn't deserve it. Reluctantly I pulled away from Joanna, Ezra didn't even give me a second to straighten up. He stepped into my personal space, and his strong arms snaked around me making our bodies pressed up together so tightly.
Wood and spice invaded my nose, tingling it and I can feel every inch of his hard body against mine. My face is smashed into his wide chest and his heartbeat is erratic. I know my heart is also acting up crazy because I shamelessly pressed myself more into him.
"I missed you so damn much Baby girl." He rasped out in my ear, his hot breath fanning my ear. Holy shit! How did his voice become this deep and mouth-watering making my toes curl in pleasure? It's going to be so hard to resist Ezra Irwin now and I am doomed.
