His Retribution (Complete His Series) Chapter 23
Missy
I trudged out of the classroom for my last final exam. This has been the worst day. I have barely gotten to see V and I didn’t know when I was going to get to see him again. Lea and Liam had grounded me indefinitely to the pack house and taken away my phone. Lea was checking my tablet and computer as well to make sure I wasn’t doing anything but schoolwork. To top it all off, they made Austin take me to and from school all week since I snuck out. Lea said depending on my grades and behavior going forward, she would consider when I could be ungrounded. Liam barely spoke to me; he was so mad still.
I took my time at my locker, hoping V would come before I had to leave. Austin wasn’t dumb and would come barging in the school if I took too long. “Hey princess,” I heard from behind me as I closed my now empty locker and slung my backpack over my shoulder.
I turned smiling broadly at V running towards me. “I caught you,” he said breathlessly. I nodded. He wasted no time in kissing me deeply and I tried to savor every bit of it. When he finally broke away from me, I frowned. “Hey, now. No pouting. You’ll be ungrounded soon enough and I will come running,” he said, trying to cheer me up.
“Okay,” I sighed.
“I can walk you out front at least,” he said sweetly. I nodded and he grabbed my hand. I made him walk slowly, trying to soak up every second I could before summer began.

I threw my bag down in the corner of my room and flopped on my bed. I could put things away later. I was trapped in the packhouse for the foreseeable future anyway. A knock at my door interrupted my wallowing. “What?” I g*****d towards the ceiling.
“Missy,” Azalea’s voice came from the doorway. I turned my head to see her standing there. She had finally perked up a few days ago after Liam spent some time with her. It was nice to see her not so sad. “I would like you to help me with something,” she started. I rolled my eyes and sat up. “Now don’t be like that please. I’m trying to let the reins out a little bit here.” My ears perked at that. Could I get my phone back? “There are a few people here your age. You probably haven’t paid much attention in the last week being locked away in your room. But now that exams are over, I would like you to show them around some.”
“People my age?” I questioned.
“Yes, they will be joining the pack before long, and I think it would be nice if you could show them around, introduce them to some people, spend some time with them. One of them even has the same birthday as you. He’ll be turning 17 on the same day,” she said with a little enthusiasm.
“Okay,” I agreed. At least it would get me out of my room. “Where are they?” I asked.
“They are downstairs in the rec room right now. Lily and I will be taking the younger ones to the park later. I thought the older ones might find hanging out with someone their age more enjoyable,” she said with a smile. Lea was way too thoughtful.
“Alright. Give me a second and I’ll come down,” I told her.
“Thank you,” she said in her happy, sing-song voice as she swung the door closed. Hopefully if I played nice for a bit and entertained these people, I could get ungrounded and spend my summer with V like I wanted too.
I stood up and drug myself to my closet, changing into more comfortable clothes. I grabbed some cotton shorts and a scoop neck tank top. It was already pretty hot even though summer just began. Lea asked me to show them around so I might as well show them the pack.
When I got downstairs to the rec room, there were three people sitting on the couch and one standing to the side looking irritated. “Uh, hey,” I said stepping in the room. The one standing next to the couch looked up and got wide eyed. One of the girls on the couch stood up.

Liam barely spoke to me; he was so mad still.
“Hi,” she said brightly.
“What are you guys up to?” I asked.
“We were just watching a movie until the Luna’s daughter arrives,” the girl said.
“Well, that’s me. I have arrived,” I said sarcastically. The girl smiled even bigger. She was just a ray of sunshine.
“So, you’re Missy?” she asked. I nodded. “It’s so great to meet you! I am Soliel but everyone calls me Sol,” she began introducing herself. Doesn’t sol mean sun? “This is Sulien, my twin brother. And that is Alex. And the grumpy one over there is Maddox.” She said introducing the other three boys in the room.
“Twins?” I asked, raising my eyebrows.
“Yea,” she laughed. “I know. Not normal. We’re fraternal and our mom is human. Her family actually has plenty of multiples, but they are all human obviously.”
“Cool,” I said. My eyes went to Maddox who no longer was looking grumpy. “So, has anyone showed you guys around?” I asked.
“Just the pack house,” said Sol. “It’s so big. You actually live here?” she asked. I nodded. Her eyes were wide in awe.
“So, uh, where are you guys from?” I asked, looking between them. They all had a strange look on their faces.
“We uh lost our pack,” Sol said in a sad tone. I nodded. Topic to avoid: noted.
“Sorry,” I said. “Do you guys want to go check out the rest of the pack? There is a lot more than the pack house.” Sol seemed to brighten when I didn’t push for more information.
“Lead the way,” she said as the others stood.

It was well past dark by the time we all came through the front door of the pack house. I knew Lea wasn’t mad because she never sent anyone looking for me. I actually had a really good time, and I was surprised. I showed them a good portion of the pack. We talked and joked, getting to know each other. Sol may be the definition of sunshine but her brother was her polar opposite. He was quiet and pessimistic but still seemed like a nice guy. Alex was friendly enough but a little too jock-ish for me. I found I got along with Maddox the best. He was down to earth and easy going. After a while, he finally admitted that he thought the Alpha and Luna’s daughter would be some princess based on how big our pack house was and I just laughed at him. Of course, he didn’t know my boyfriend’s nickname for me but it was still funny. None of them really wanted to talk about their old pack, only telling me they hoped Liam and Lea would accept them into B***d Eclipse.
We hadn’t eaten dinner, only grabbed ice cream while we walked around. I told them all to follow me and I took us to the kitchen. Sol’s eyes went wide as we walked in. “Wow,” she whispered.
“What?” I asked.
“It’s so big,” she said.
“Well, the pack house feeds a bunch of people everyday. It sort of has to be, right?” I replied.
“So, you just come down and make food whenever?” she asked.
“I mean sure. Usually, we have other pack members here that work in the kitchen. They cook meals but those of us that live in the pack house can come down whenever really,” I said. “Lea is really serious about making sure everyone gets fed.” Sol c****d her head. “Oh right. Luna Azalea.”
“You don’t call her mom?” she asked. I moved over to the fridge as we talked, looking for any leftovers from dinner. Sol followed me but the boys went to sit down at the couple of stools on the other side of the long island.
“Uh, no. Not really,” I said. It had been a long time since I actually had to tell anyone about my parents.
“Is she not really your mom?” Sol asked.
“Sol!” Sulien shot at her.
“What? It’s just weird. Who doesn’t call their mom ‘mom’?” she argued with her brother. I started pulling out some containers of lunch meat while they argued.
Finally, I stopped them. “Lea isn’t my mom, well my biological mother at least,” I told them. All their eyes went to me and I felt weird for a second. “It’s not really a secret. I am adopted. My dad died defending the pack against some rogues when I was little. Then my mom… uh… couldn’t really take living without him…” I trailed off for a moment not liking all the attention on me. I ducked into the pantry, pulling out some bread.
“Missy, that is really sad. I am so sorry,” Sol said, her cheery disposition dropping. Maddox gave me a strange look.
“It’s okay. Really. I was practically living at the pack house and spending all my time with Lea anyway. So they just adopted me,” I told them.
“Does that mean that you are the next Alpha?” Alex asked.
“She’s a girl; she can’t be Alpha,” Sulien said.
“Hey! Girls could be Alphas,” Sol argued. Sulien rolled his eyes at his sister.
“No, I won’t be Alpha,” I said with a half laugh as I started laying out bread. “I am spared that trapped. Lea and Liam’s oldest son will be Alpha cause of b***d and all that.”
“That doesn’t seem fair,” Maddox said. I shrugged.
“It doesn’t really bother me,” I said. Maddox gave me a contemplative look. I piled on the lunch meat, cheese, and some veggies onto the sandwiches while Sol, Sulien, and Alex argued over girls being Alphas. Once I was finished, I passed sandwiches to everyone and they began to eat happily. I went to the fridge and pulled out some cucumbers and carrots along with the vegetable dip. I quickly sliced the cucumbers and put them on a plate with the carrots, setting it in between all of us. I didn’t really participate in the conversation as we ate, feeling a little down.
“I was wondering when you would all show up,” came Lea’s voice from the doorway. I looked over at her smiling at us. She was in pajamas with her hair all messy on top her head and she held her little baby bump. Everyone else bowed their head to her.
“Sorry, we lost track of time,” I told her. She shook her head.
“You guys are okay. I just hope you all had fun,” she said to everyone.
Everyone at the table smiled and nodded vigorously. “Missy was an excellent tour guide,” Sol chirped. Lea smiled wider.
“I am glad. When you are finished, make sure you clean up or Marci will have a fit in the morning. Don’t stay up too late, alright?” she said. She turned to leave but I stopped her.
“Wait,” I said. I turned and hurried over to the fridge and found what I was looking for. I went over and handed the bottle of cranberry juice to Lea. She gave me a warm smile.
“And how did you know?” she asked.
It was my turn to smile. “Marci bought them as soon as there was a rumor about you being pregnant. It was all you would drink with Leo,” I told her. She leaned forward and wrapped me in a hug.
“Thank you. You guys have fun, good night,” she said. She turned and left the kitchen. I went back to the group.
“She may not be your mom, but you definitely act like mother and daughter,” Sol commented as she popped a carrot in her mouth. I shrugged. I have loved Lea since I was a little girl. She was always nice to me.
“I’m not tired yet, who is up for some movies?” Alex asked.
