Chapter 23
(Nick)
He almost uttered a bad word. He now wants to believe that bad luck comes in threes!
"Lovey! What happened to you?" Heather asked him with a trace of worry in her voice.
He turned his face the other way when she attempted to touch his jaw with a wound dressing. One of the women he had a one-night stand with several months ago, has a fiance who found out about what happened to them. He doesn't know what came to that woman's head because she told her fiance that they have a relationship until now which made the d*ckhead really furious at him.
He was about to enter a famous coffee shop when the man suddenly attacked him and hit his jaw with a brass knuckle. He was caught unaware. The a*shole was able to hit him once. He caused the man more serious injuries so he is sure that he will leave him alone in the future. He may only have a minor injury but he is really pissed.
And his second bad luck is their family doctor who treated him, called his mother when he left the clinic so his mother reprimanded him.
One good thing about what happened is he has a good excuse to see Stacey today instead of just calling her. The wound dressing is covering his whole jaw so his stubble is not visible. But the problem is, his bad luck number three.
He is trying hard not to go berserk because Stacey is holding hands with the f*ckass he saw her talking with at the bar. He balled his hands as he inhaled deeply to calm himself.
He heard Heather's voice again. "I'm fine. I just had a mishap." he told her with a clipped tone.
He forced himself to stop glaring at Stacey and the good-for-nothing a*shole she is with. If he won't stop, they will sense something is wrong with him. So he just turned his eyes to Heather who is wearing a very sexy sleepwear. The muscle in his jaw clenched. If it was Stacey who is in such a revealing wear while another man is in the room, he will drag her to the bedroom and f*ck her until she's sore. Then he will lock her up for a week to teach her a lesson.
Stacey stifled a smile because it seems that someone smacked Mr. Grumpy. That explains why he is glaring at her and Tyler.
Serves him right for being so arrogant! She thought.
Heather on one hand, grabbed the chance to touch Nick. She wrapped her arms around his right arm and she is almost kissing it. "Next time be more careful, lovey." she said huskily. Nick wants to remove Heather's hands but Stacey is looking at them. He made a mental note to talk to Heather later. He doesn't want her to get the idea that he is really interested in her.
Stacey felt a bit irritated. Her half-sister and her arrogant boyfriend don't have scruples about flirting even with unwilling audience. She glanced at Tyler who is just looking at the two without any expression on his face. She tugged his hand to get his attention. It will be better if they will leave. She doesn't have the desire to witness what Heather and Nick might do next.
"Let's go." she told her former boss.
Tyler grinned then nodded and they started to walk to the door. Nick is still standing on the entrance and it seems like he doesn't have any plan of moving. He is blocking their way. "Let us pass!" she said coldly to him but he didn't react.
Even her half-sister tried to tell him to move from the door but he just continued looking at her with narrowed eyes. His eyes went down to her hand which Tyler is holding. She thought she saw him grit his teeth.
"I have to talk to your sister about work." He then said chillingly to Heather but his eyes went back to her face. They have a hard glint in them .He didn't even throw Heather a glance.
Nick noticed that Stacey isn't wearing the bracelet and he almost gnashed. His anger went a notch higher. He, as Derick told her repeatedly to always wear the diamond-studded bracelet. "Stacey? What work?" Tyler asked. His forehead creased.
Nick is clenching and un-clenching his fists because he is on the verge of beating the other man. This is the third time that he saw the a*shole with Stacey.
Mind control Alcantara! He kept on repeating to himself. In a controlled tone he asked, "Stacey, where can we talk?"
"You can talk here lovey. Anyway it's only about work." Heather interrupted.
Nick glared at her which somehow made Heather feel a bit afraid of him.
"Well, I think you two can talk in the garden. We'll just wait for you here." she suddenly said before removing her hands on his arm. She also put a little distance between them. She didn't want to make him angrier.
Stacey also noticed that Nick is still pissed. And she thought that maybe it's because he wasn't able to completely get back at the man he had a brawl with so there is no use in arguing with him while he is in such a black mood.
"We won't be long, Tyler. Please wait for me in your car. "she suggested to Tyler.
She touched his arm as if to assure him that she will explain everything to him later. Finally he just nodded without saying anything.
What she did and said fueled Nick's anger.
Son of a....! This as*hole is Tyler? Her former boss? He asked himself.
Before he really loses it, he turned to the door and sad in a cold voice, "Let's go Stacey!"
His strides are long, angry and quick. He is on the verge of being violent. He kept on murmuring bad words as he angrily raked his hair with his hand. At this point he is ready to hurt anyone but he still has to control his rage because any moment now, Stacey will come.
"Fucking hell!" he cursed and grabbed some of his hair.
He didn't know that it will be this difficult. He has to go through a lot because of his plans. Definitely, he has to think of ways to get rid of Tyler quickly.
"Can't you wait until Monday?" He heard Stacey asked with an irritated tone.
(Stacey)
She moved two steps back when Nick turned his head to her. His face is a bit red which is obviously because of anger. He is breathing in gasps as he seems to be trying very hard to calm himself. He just stared at her while he breathes heavily which gave her the creeps.
"W-What d-do you want to tell me?" she stuttered.
She looked down. She can't stand his glare. She can't understand why he seems to be taking out his anger on everyone. What he said next made her raise her eyes to his face again.
"Since you will work for me, tell your tons of admirers that I don't want to see their faces anywhere my company's premises!"
"W-What? That has nothing to do with my work!" she complained. She wanted to add that she doesn't have tons of admirers.
Slowly he moved toward her. She wants to step back again but she feels that her feet are glued on the grass. Now they are just a few inches away from each other. And since she is wearing flats, the top of her head is only up to his lower lip. She ran her eyes on the white wound dressing which is covering his jaw. She can't look at his eyes directly.
"Anyone who works for me should have a good reputation! I don't want my clients to think that I hire people who are shady! My female employees don't do bar-hopping especially with different men! According to your sister you always go home very late at night because of your part-time job! So whatever that job is, quit it!"
Stacey's eyes narrowed. She raised her face and looked at him with defiance in her expression. She almost gritted her teeth when she saw him staring at her lips.
A very demanding pervert! she said to herself.
"You should have informed me much earlier that I will be working for a modern Hitler! What kind of company do you have? You have so many rules! You should hire robots so you can turn them on easily when it's time to work and turn them off after work! You give orders like a king! You said you are offering me a job but you sound like you want to control my life! I am not gonna have that! Hire someone who just got out of the convent instead! I don't want to work for you so shove your job offer into your throat! I don't want it!" she grated.
Nick had been bottling up his anger and after hearing what Stacey said, he felt all the blood in his body went up his head. Without thinking of the consequences, he pulled Stacey's nape towards him and angrily kissed her on the lips.
