His Ex-wife’s Comeback ( Nancy and Liam )

Chapter 8

Chapter 8 Setting New Rules

Cerci was drenched, clutching the microphone tightly.

As she stared at the person responsible for pouring the basin of water, her mouth quivered, and she gritted her teeth, shouting, “Nancy!”

“Are you awake now? If not, I wouldn’t mind pouring another basin of foot–washing water on you.”

The loud music continued to blare recklessly, and Nancy hurled the basin directly toward the sound system. The sound system was struck hard and crashed to the ground, startling Cerci.

The noisy music abruptly ceased.

“What’s happening? What’s going on?”

David, who was also disturbed by the noise, rushed over from another guest room wearing pajamas. Seeing Cerci soaked, he knew that his daughter had been mistreated. “Nancy, what is all this commotion about?”

“Dad, she poured cold water on me; I’m freezing.”

Cerci shivered from the cold, and a maid quickly approached to wrap a blanket around. her. Cerci enveloped herself in the blanket, tears welling up in her eyes as she looked at David. “I couldn’t sleep; I just wanted to listen to some songs, but Nancy wouldn’t allow it.”

With a pitiful expression, it seemed as if Nancy had done something terrible to her.

“Alright, alright.” David lovingly comforted his daughter. “Your cousin just came back; give her some space; don’t argue with her, okay?”

Cerci obediently nodded, but still wore a look of grievance on her face.”

Nancy observed them expressionlessly. She then said coldly, “Are you finished with your

act?”

David and Cerci looked up at her, their faces turning pale.

Nancy stood at the door, lazily gazing at Cerci. “Throwing a tantrum in the middle of the night, I’ll just assume you were sleepwalking. If it happens again, I’ll just throw you into a pool to wake you up properly.”

“Furthermore,” she glanced casually at the father and daughter, “since you’re living in my house, you have to follow my rules. I’m a light sleeper and can’t tolerate any noise at night. If you can’t control yourself or can’t bear it, then leave.”

After saying that, she couldn’t be bothered by them and turned to leave.

“Dad, look at her.”

Cerci pouted, pointing at Nancy; she felt the urge to grab her hair and fight her. But David held her back, saying, “Alright, alright, be a good girl and don’t get angry.”

After dismissing the maids and closing the door, Cerci muttered and cursed while drying her hair with a towel. She angrily said to David, “Dad, are we just going to let Nancy bully

us like this?”

David had a stern face, and his expression was not good either. He was still upset about the vase that Nancy had smashed. It was worth millions, but she claimed it was fake.

“Dad, we’ve worked so hard to achieve our current status and position. Do we really have

to go

back to the past again?”

Cerci squatted in front of David and said, “Do you remember how we used to grovel in front of Uncle and Aunt? I don’t want to live like that anymore, and I have no intention of pleasing Nancy.”

David narrowed his eyes, and his chubby face trembled as he snorted, “Do you think I want to? But Nancy’s sudden and mysterious return is quite alarming.”

.“Uncle and Aunt are already dead, and she has no support. What power does she have to

rely on?”

Cerci continued to advise her father, “If you don’t put an end to this once and for all, she will keep coming after us. Look at her attitude towards us; she must be aware of: something and has returned for revenge. If we don’t get rid of her, it will be us who end up dead! We must strike while she is still vulnerable and gain the upper hand! Dad, you must not be soft–hearted at this moment!”

David touched the jade ring on his thumb, seriously considering her suggestion. “Don’t worry, she won’t be able to overpower us. If she wants to die, don’t blame me for disregarding our relationship.”

Nancy lay quietly on the bed, with a listening device installed in the room, capturing every word of the conversation between father and daughter.

A contemptuous smirk appeared on her face, and sometimes she wondered how they could have such confidence despite being so ordinary.

The next day, Cerci slept in until late morning.

She turned over in bed and pressed the intercom, lazily saying, “Mandy, go to my room and fill the bathtub with water, then go to the courtyard and pick some flowers. I want to take a bath with petals.”

A strange yet somewhat familiar female voice came through the phone: “Ms. Cerci, I apologize for informing you that Mandy has been dismissed. As for the petal bath, Ms. Smith has ordered that no one is allowed to harm the roses in the courtyard, so I’m afraid your unreasonable request cannot be fulfilled.”

Cerci sat up, furrowing her brow and asking, “Who are you?”

“I am the housekeeper who was once driven away by you but has returned to the rose. garden. I am delighted to serve you.”

Cerci was upset, and she hung up the intercom, quickly putting on her robe and rushing outside.

As she descended the stairs, she noticed several maids cleaning upstairs and downstairs, but none of them were her staff members. They were all the maids from the past!

So where were her staff members? Where had they gone?

What infuriated her the most was discovering that all the peonies she had planted in the yard had been uprooted and replaced with dazzling red roses, blooming with an imposing

aura.

Cerci clenched her fists, gritting her teeth as she muttered two words, “Nancy!”
