His Ex Wife Is A Billionaire

Chapter 742

Chapter 742
“Absolutely,” Marilla nodded with unwavering certainty.
At that moment, the usually composed Aaron stood frozen, staring at the portrait, with visible redness creeping into the corners
of his eyes.
“Aaron, are you okay?” Marilla, ever so attentive, noticed Aaron’s unusual behavior and asked with a gentle
voice.
“Sorry, where’s the restroom?” Aaron’s voice was hoarse as he inquired.
Thaddeus pointed out the direction, and Aaron quickly turned and strode away with urgency.
“Evadne, do you recognize this man?” The man wrapped his arm around her waist, asking anxiously.
Taking a deep breath to steady her swirling emotions, Evadne replied, “He looks remarkably like Hubery, who perished in a plane
crash.”
Thaddeus and Marilla’s eyes widened in disbelief!
Remembering Hubery, who had died years ago, brought back a pain to the Ashbourne family that could never be healed. Tears
welled up in Evadne’s eyes as she murmured softly.
“Hubery left us all those years ago, and we never dare to speak or reminisce about him, especially in front of Suri and Aaron. It’s
not that we’ve forgotten; it’s precisely because we can’t forget that we avoid it so.”
With her eyes closed, as the memory flooded back, Evadne felt a wave of pain coming from the depths of her heart, threatening
to overwhelm her, “I still remember that morning of the crash, Hubery, dressed in his pilot’s uniform, standing in the sunlit
courtyard, suitcase in hand, waving goodbye with such vigor. Little did we know, it would be our last goodbye.”
A brief farewell had turned into eternity.
Thaddeus tightened his grip on Evadne’s waist as a wave of sorrow weighed heavily on his chest, making it hard to breathe.
He wanted to say something comforting, but any words of solace seemed pale and weak in the face of a loved one’s death.

Realization dawned on Marilla, and she looked anxiously in the direction Aaron had left.
“The man in this portrait is not just similar to my Hubery; he’s the spitting image!”
Evadne’s fingers trembled again as she gripped the paper, “But it’s impossible. The official confirmation came that no crew or
passengers survived the crash of the plane Hubery piloted.”
“It’s indeed unbelievable.” Thaddeus‘ voice was rough, as he rubbed her shoulder gently, “With such disasters, even if there’s no
b*dy, the chance of survival is nearly zero. Besides, if Hubery had survived, wouldn’t he have contacted us somehow over the
years?”
“So, is it just a coincidence?”
Aaron returned to them, trying to mask his sorrow, but his reddened eyes betrayed his emotions, “Is it just by chance that he
resembles Hubery so closely? Can there really be two people in the world who look so alike?”
“It’s not impossible,” Thaddeus músed.
“After the crash, Emeric and Suri refused to give up hope and used their connections to search for Hubery for a long time.
Especially Suri, even though everyone told her there was no hope, she couldn’t bear the thought without seeing her son’s b*dy,
clinging to the faint hope that he might still be alive, which helped her through the darkest times. That’s why she never marked
the day of the crash as Hubery’s death day; she only celebrated his birthday. It’s as if Hubery had just gone on a long trip and
would eventually come back.”
A pang of pain struck Evadne’s heart, “I can’t imagine what Suri would feel if she saw this man. Perhaps she’s

even more desperate than us to find him, if only to see him once.”
Aaron gazed deeply at the man’s handsome face, “His features may resemble Hubery’s, but his eyes, they are not Hubery’s.
Hubery was a clear spring, while this man, he’s a merciless blade of ice.”

The air fell into a suffocating silence. Suddenly, Thaddeus thought of something, his jaw tense.
“Thaddeus, say what you want to say. It’s alright,” the couple knew each other so well, and now Evadne could understand the
man’s subtle changes of expression.
“Evadne, remember the woman who looked almost exactly like you? The one kept by Avery?”
“You mean Elsie Archer? Of course, I remember.”
“At the time, Avery used Elsie to trap me, making me think she was you and fell for his scheme.”
Thaddeus‘ gaze darkened with suspicion, “And now this man, who bears a striking resemblance to Hubery, played a crucial role
in this scheme against Jareth and Marilla. Could it be possible that behind Gary and Edith, Avery’s influence is still at play?”
