His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 331

There was a stir on the sick bed.

Brock let go of Eliza's hand and dashed to Casper's bedside, grabbing his large hand.

"Mr. Casper, are you awake?"

Casper weakly lifted his heavy eyelids to look at Brock.

Even though his eyes were barely open, Brock was still thrilled. "Mom, Mr. Casper is awake!"

"Is he?" Eliza walked over and sat by the bed. Her face was gentle, her eyes filled with concern. "Are you awake?"

Casper's brow furrowed slightly. His gaze shifted from Brock to Eliza's delicate face. He just stared at her, not blinking.

Eliza touched his forehead. "Good, no fever anymore."

"Mom, Mr. Casper must have been really scared, right?" Brock held Casper's big hand seriously. "Mr. Casper, when I grow up, I'll protect you and won't let that mean lady bully you again."

Eliza ruffled her son's fluffy hair, smiling. "Then you need to eat more so you can grow tall and strong." "I will."

The newly awakened man was still a bit dazed and watched the mother and son talk back and forth. Even when a nurse came in to take his blood pressure and give him an injection, he didn't look away. "Mom, why is Mr. Casper always looking at you? Did he go silly again?" Brock gently patted Casper's face. "Mr. Casper, look at me."

Casper finally turned to look at the little guy, who then kissed him on the face. "Mr. Casper, don't be scared. Once you get better, Mom and I will take you home to take care of you."

Eliza knew Casper couldn't understand what Brock was saying, but it didn't matter. One liked to talk while the other couldn't understand; they were a perfect match.

"I just asked the doctor. He said your injuries are healing nicely. You're lucky-you survived a fall, almost drowned, got hit on the head with a hammer, and still haven't died."

Eliza shook her head, smiling. She wasn't mocking him; she genuinely thought Casper was hard to kill.

"Casper, being a mute is fine. At

least Brock likes you, and I'm not afraid of you. After all, you've saved us many times, and Brock and Lare happy to take care of you. If I ever get married, we'll continue to take you."

She said the last part jokingly. Casper's brow twitched just a little.

After being discharged, Eliza took Casper back to her home. He was very quiet and peaceful. He ate and slept, recovering quickly.

In the mornings, he would watch mother and son leave their small home. In the evening, he would watch them return, chat and laugh. Casper often sat alone on the balcony, lost in thought. His gaze was deep and distant.

One day, after Eliza and Brock had left, there was a knock at the door. Casper hesitated before getting up to answer it.

The man at the door was a stranger, shorter than him. "I came to see you," Carlos. said, offering a basket of carefully selected fruits with a warm smile. His eyes applauded Casper's clean and tidy appearance. "You seem to be doing well, Carlos said.

Carlos tried to enter, but Casper blocked the doorway. "Aren't you going to invite me in?" Carlos asked, a smile playing on his lips. Casper didn't move, his eyes shining with a harsh light.

Carlos chuckled softly, looking up at

Casper with a full smile. "Let me introduce myself. I'm Carlos, Ms. Valerie's colleague. When you were working on the construction site, I drew many sketches of you. Do you remember?"

Casper shook his head. He had no memory of how he ended up here, let alone of who this stranger was.
