Chapter 308
"Don't you find this fascinating?" he chuckled, a glint of control in his eyes.
"You're sick. Have you been scheming all these years just to get back at Casper?"
"He killed my fiancée and destroyed everything we had. Shouldn't I hate him? Shouldn't I want revenge?"
He stared at Eliza, disappointment etched on his face. His brows knitted tightly together.
"Eliza, Casper put you through so much, leaving you with nothing, no home to go back to in Falconridge, and your brother became mentally broken because of him. You're not starting to feel sorry for him, are you? Think about your father, who can never return to Falconridge. Think about your brother..."
Aaron inched closer to Eliza, causing her to back away in fear. "Stop, don't come any closer. Whatever happened between him and me is none of your business. I don't need you to seek justice for me, Aaron. I thought you were a true friend, even more..." She had thought he was someone she could rely on, but it was all a deception in the end.
"...I won't let you have another chance to hurt my son."
She turned and ran, flagging down a taxi that happened to pass by, and jumped in. She thought Zach and Casper were abnormal, but Aaron seemed even more chilling.
She didn't know how many detours the driver took, but by the time the streetlights flickered on, she had finally returned to the Welton estate.
Casper was back, sitting there with a stack of documents in hand. "Perfect timing. Take a look at this."
Eliza paused, confused, and walked over. "What is it?"
"The companies and shares your parents left to you. Didn't we agree that after you met your father, I would transfer everything to your name? It's all done now. Take a look." Eliza responded with a disinterested "Oh." She didn't understand these things. She gave them a cursory glance. "Just don't deceive me."
"You can have a lawyer check it out."
"I will." She tucked the documents into her bag, her mood subdued, her presence almost ghostly. "I'm tired. I'll go rest."
"There's one more thing," he said.
Eliza continued up the stairs as if she hadn't heard, her steps uneven.
"Eliza," he called out to her.
She turned around in a daze, her foot only half on the step, and t

Casper rushed over in a flash, catching her steadily. His body, however, fell heavily.
"Ouch..." He gritted his teeth in pain. It felt like something had stabbed him in the lower back.
"Is that blood?" Eliza, as if afraid of being responsible, jumped away from him. "Casper, are you hurt? It's not my fault."
"You're quick to disclaim." He frowned, trying to get up with some difficulty. "Something stabbed me."

"I can't. Come help me." He was in considerable pain now, and Eliza seemed to have no sympathy. "What are you waiting for? Do you want to see me die from blood loss?"

"If you were dead, it'd be less trouble," she muttered under her breath.
He closed his eyes for a moment. "I'm not deaf. I can hear you."
"You're injured... maybe I should call 911." Eliza ignored him and took out her phone to make the call.
