Chapter 5
**Justin’s POV**
I rushed into the bathroom after Kataleya and I barely made it in time to grab her hair and hold it up. She emptied the contents of her stomach before she sat back on her heels and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. I walked into the main office and grabbed a bottle of water from her refrigerator and took it back to her.
I looked at the Omega, who was still in the room. “Candice, Alpha Kataleya is fine. She just has not been feeling well today. I am probably going to have her stay home and I will be at the pack house working on paperwork this morning. Please make sure any food that is sent to me is sent to my office there. Thank you. Oh, and let the head cook know not to worry about bringing my mate food unless one of us links someone for the food. I don't want to upset her stomach any more than it already is.”
She nodded her head rapidly, “I hope you feel better soon, Alpha Kataleya,” she called out, before scurrying out of our house.
I shook my head as I walked back into the bathroom. I have repeatedly told the Omegas that there was no need to bring us food while we were at our house unless we asked for it. I told them that their Alphas were capable of making some meals on their own. But, the head cook insists that they bring us food. In her words, it is her job to make sure that we are taken care of, since Alpha's are notoriously known for not looking after their needs.
She took the water and swigged it in her mouth, then spit the water into the toilet bowl.
"Fuck, I feel awful,” she whispered.
I placed my on her forehead. “You are clammy, doesn't feel like a fever. How about you taking the rest of the day off? Spend the day resting in our room and I will take care of everything today, my queen.”
She looked up at me, with sad doe eyes, “Are you sure, babe? I can work through the pain.”
I shook my head. “No! You need your rest. You never take any time off. Just go rest and relax, my love.”
She nodded her head. I picked her up and carried her to our room. Before I even made it out of the office, she had laid her head on my chest and was snoring softly. I gently lay her on the bed and covered her with the duvet.
“Dr. Leigh, can you check on Kataleya for me? She is at our house in bed. She hasn't been feeling well. She just finished getting sick and feels awfully clammy. I just wanted to make sure she was not coming down with something.’
'Sure,” she responded, “Let me finish patching up Oliver from training and then I will be there. I will make sure that she is okay with you. Do you want me to check in when I am done?"
'Yes, please. I have some business to take care of at the pack house, so I will be there for most of the day.’
"Yes, Alpha. I will update you after I have seen your mate.’
I cut the link and headed to the pack house, linking the warriors that we had agreed to let go to the Moonlight Storm.
Once in my office, I started some of the piling of paperwork that needed my attention, while I waited for the warriors to arrive.
James was the first one to enter my office, since he is the Gamma, his office was already in the pack house, so it was easier for him to meet with me.
“What's up?” he asked as soon as he entered. He looked around the room before he inquired about Kataleya. “Where is Alpha Kataleya?”
"Oh, she was not feeling well this morning, so I told her to take the day off and I would handle everything for her today. She hasn't been feeling well for a little bit, but today was pretty bad. She couldn't keep anything down and the smell of food was making her nauseous.”
He gave me a look.
“What?”
"How long has she been sick for? Are you sure she just isn't pregnant?”
I froze. Could she really be pregnant already? We assumed it would take her longer to get pregnant. Panic started to set in. This is what I wanted, right? I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. My hands were sweating.
Relax.
Yeah, that's what I need to do. Just relax. You don't even know if she is pregnant. If she is, you will be happy. You have been wanting children with her. It will be okay. No need to panic.
I could feel my heart slowing down and I was starting to feel calmer. I let out a sigh and turned my attention back to James, who was looking at me with amusement clear on his face.
“You never considered that possibility, did you?” he asked me.
I shook my head. “It was only a few weeks ago that we had decided that we would stop preventative measures. I am pretty sure that we have only had sex three times in the past two weeks and two of the times, we were interrupted before either of us could finish. It would have just been too soon. I would be happy though. This is, after all, what we were wanting.”
He nodded his head, “Maybe she isn't and she has just caught some bug. I guess we will all find out soon enough. What did you need to talk about?”
"We are waiting for the rest of the warriors that I have called to get here. There is something that we need you and a few others to do, but I only want to explain the mission to everyone once and preferably at the same time.”
He nodded his head in understanding before he picked up some of the papers that he had brought with him. They were probably bills that needed to be signed off on.
I rested my head on my hands, waiting for the rest of the warriors to show up.
James and I went over some of the bills that were needing to be paid, since that was one of his jobs. He had to pay the bills, but before he could pay or buy anything, it had to be approved by myself or Kataleya. Since Kataleya is out, I have asked everyone not to bother her with anything, so she could hopefully rest. That left me to handle all the extra day to day shit that she does. Normally, I allow her to handle the pack members. That is the Luna's duty that Kataleya generally has. The pack has responded well to her, which is great considering how some of them reacted just a few short years ago when she had to fight for her right to be their Alpha. Hell, even most of the former pack elders have come around to the idea of Kataleya being their Alpha. Christopher was the first one to swallow his words and admit that he was the one wrong. He even told her that she was the best Alpha he had seen, which was a compliment from him.
About ten minutes later, there was a knock on the door. James got up to answer the door and let the warriors start to trickle into the room.
“Go ahead and have a seat,” I said, motioning to the chairs that were in the room.
Once everyone was seated, I started to explain what was expected of them. “One of our most recent allies, the Midnight Storm pack, needs our help. They have had an influx of rogue attacks and they have been struggling with protecting their borders. They have requested that we send them a few of our best warriors in order to help them take care of their problems. Kataleya and I agree that it is necessary to help them, so we have hand-picked each of you. Additionally, their Alpha has requested that our Gamma comes and help them to reinvent their training regime. We have the best training regime and we produce the strongest warriors in the region. This is why Gamma James is going with you. Each of you are to help Gamma James with the training regime or anything else that he needs. I know that it should not be said, but I would like to remind everyone that Gamma James is not a babysitter and should not have to act as such. You are there to represent the White Fang pack and your Alphas. We expect each and every one of you to act accordingly. Gamma, Michael is still in the Moonlight Storm pack, so he will be there to assist you with anything you need. We expect updates at least once a week and if anything major happens, we expect to be updated immediately, or when things calm down. Does anyone have any questions for me?”
Aziel raised his hand. I raised my eyebrows and gestured for him to speak, “How long will we be expected to stay there?”
"As long as it is necessary. Currently, we are only estimating a month. That should be enough time to help them reinvent their training regime and help them with the rogue issues. Also, I forgot to mention, be forewarned that the rogues are moving as if they are planning something. Almost as if they are trying to find the weak points in the pack. Be prepared for anything to happen. While we know from personal experience that people in a pack can turn on their Alpha, be wary of those in the pack. Don't trust anyone unless they have proven that they can be trusted with your life or the life of your Alpha. Lastly, this pack still maintains the use of pack elders. They are one of the only packs that had voted against Kataleya at the summit in reference to getting rid of the pack elders. They opted to keep theirs. Just remember to be wary of them and, while we may have gotten rid of our pack elders, you still need to respect their elders, even if they are complete douche bags. Are there any other questions?”
Everyone shook their heads no, so I dismissed them, telling them that they were to leave in the morning. I had already prepared the number of pack vehicles they were going to be authorized to take and they needed at least two of them that would be willing to drive the cars, preferable without crashing and destroying them...which ruled out Cadence and McKenzie. Cadence destroyed three cars within his first year of being a warrior and McKenzie has been known for being completely reckless behind the wheel.
I stayed in my office for a few more hours as I worked to bring down this mountain of paperwork. Just as I was getting ready to leave, I received a mind-link from the doctor. “Kataleya is doing fine. She is just under the weather, nothing to worry about. It is just a small cold. I am sure that it will pass soon."
Good. I let out a sigh of relief and finished packing up my stuff to go see my mate.
