High School Terrans

Chapter 13

Kyle decided to pay Patrick a visit after school to see how he was doing. He knocked on Patrick’s open door to his room seeing his left leg wrapped up in a cast.

“Hey!” Patrick said. “Glad to see you came by.”

“Yeah, and I brought your school work to help you catch up,” Kyle replied showing a stack of papers and books.

“Wow, thanks,” he said with a laugh. “How thrilling. Just sit them all over on my desk.”

Kyle dropped Patrick’s schoolwork on his desk and pulled up a chair beside Patrick’s bed.

“How are you doing?”

“I’m getting better. Little beat up but the doctor said it will only be a few weeks before I get this cast off.”

“I’m really sorry you ended up getting hurt.”

“I couldn’t understand it. I had practiced that run for days. I had full control of my board then suddenly it felt like it had a mind of its own.”

“Patrick, I know it had to be one of us who tampered with your board.”

“You mean you think it was another Terran?” Patrick questioned.

“Yes.”

“But why? I have nothing against you. I mean I know Jason isn’t thrilled that you and Sarah are dating. He had always hoped to make it with her but Jason has never been Sarah’s type. His bark is worse than his bite.”

“I am just wondering what the reasoning would be to come after you.”

“Someone who isn’t a fan of humans?”

“That was my thinking too.”

“Whatever it is having both sides, us and you, fighting against each other doesn’t sound good.”

From Dan driving up to the front of Morgan’s house he could see that his family lived in an upper scale house that showed the signs they were obviously well to do. Dan knocked on the door and Morgan opened it standing in the doorway wearing a tank top and board shorts.

“Hey! Glad you can make it.”

Morgan invited him into the large foyer with the big staircase that led up.

“We’re all out in back.”

Dan followed seeing in the back there was a pool with a whole group of guys and girls partying and laying poolside on lounge chairs.

“So your parents let you throw parties like this?”

“Yeah, and besides they are both out this weekend. I like throwing parties for all of the other Terrans in school.”

Morgan led Dan around to a patio table with a big umbrella and a circle of chairs. Dan saw the new member of the group sitting with Nicholas.

“This is Tyler,” he said. “He’s another member of our little circle. Grab a pop from the cooler if you’d like.”

Dan opened the cooler sitting nearby taking out a can and took a swig.

“How are you liking school?” Morgan asked.

“It’s alright. Takes some getting used to.”

“Not sure why we’re taking all of the classes at school,” Nicholas said. “I mean we already know more than everyone else.”

Dan looked around and couldn’t help but notice the group of girls eying them from across the way.

“Sky surfing groupies?”

“Yeah...,” Tyler said laughing, “they treat us like kings.”

“And yet we still feel treated like a minority,” Morgan said.

“It’s not so bad,” Dan said. “Remember our ancestors supposedly came from here.”

“That old story,” Nicholas said chuckling. “I get bored with history. I like the here and now.”

Morgan’s cell phone rang and took it looking at the screen.

“Forgive me guys. I need to take this.”

Morgan rose from his chair walking into the kitchen away from the crowd outside and listened for a few moments.

“Yeah....we got him here....no he doesn’t suspect anything. Okay, when?.....We’ll be there.”

Morgan closed his phone and came walking back to the table.

“So who called?” Dan asked.

“Just my parents checking up on me. No big deal.”

However, at the other end, Christian closed his cell phone while standing inside the lobby of the movie theater on his double date with Anna and Kyle, and Sarah. Christian, or how he liked to be called by his given name Jaden, knew how to keep his secrets well. The end goal wasn’t in sight yet so he was careful to bide his time for now and play along with his Earthly charade. He caught up to the other three waiting.

“This was a really good idea,” Sarah said in line. “I’ve never gone on a double date before.”

“Yeah, I actually haven’t seen this movie yet.”

“Did you ever have movies on Terra?” Sarah said to Kyle with his hand around her back waist.

“We had mostly musical performances and sportsmen contests but there were other people involved in the arts similar to acting.”

“Everything good?” Anna asked after giving him a gentle kiss.

“Yep,” he said. “Just was checking in at home.”

“Let’s all get popcorn and drinks.”

“Yeah, would be nice to experience the full on Earth movie theater experience,” Kyle said.

“Don’t you take offense to the way that science fiction movies portray aliens?” Jaden asked.

“Not really. I know there are a lot of misconceptions out there about people from other planets.”

“As long as you aren’t green or try to replace people like a pod person then I think I am safe,” Sarah said.

Kyle laughed and hugged her neck as they all walked ahead to the concession area whilst Jaden put on a faux smile.
