Chapter 701 Where Is Sonny
"You said it yourself. I've been with him for so many years, so how could I possibly harm him?" Slevin put his hands in his pockets while appearing casual and natural. "Instead of doubting me, why don't you ask me nicely? Who knows, maybe I can help you find him."
Seeing him this way, Elspeth was utterly disappointed. There were only two possibilities for his behavior. One was that Slevin was the one who kidnapped Damian, which explained his audacity. The other possibility was that he had never cared about Damian at all. Despite spending over four years together, Damian was nothing more than a tool for him to use. Regardless of the outcome, Elspeth found this person extremely despicable.
"There's no need for that," Elspeth said decisively before turning around to go back to the ward.
But as soon as she held onto the doorknob, she heard Slevin's voice from behind her. "If you go in like this, you might regret it."
Elspeth gritted her teeth as she turned around, looking furious.
"Slevin, can you make things clear? What exactly do you want? Why are you threatening me like this?" Slevin suddenly let out a smile, a harmless smile that perfectly matched his appearance. When Elspeth lost her memory, she trusted him precisely because he didn't look like a bad person, and his every action exuded maturity and stability which made him seem like a kind person.
It was only after her memories returned that she realized the person standing before her who had a warm smile was actually such a twisted and deranged individual. She blamed herself for being so blind back then and for not being cautious, which had brought about such a disaster.
"I've never threatened you. I'm just having a normal conversation with you." Slevin smirked as he looked at how agitated she was.
"If you truly think I have some ulterior motive... it's difficult to explain here. Why don't you come out and let's talk outside?" Slevin smiled apologetically and gestured to the sign on top that read 'Quiet'. He was calm and composed even in such a situation.
Elspeth took a deep breath to suppress her rage. "Fine, let's talk outside."
The two of them then went up to the hospital rooftop. It was now early morning, and usually, some people would come here to relax, but at this moment, it was empty. They stood under a flickering light that was swaying vigorously in the wind. If it weren't for Slevin's presence, Elspeth would have felt she was in a crime scene. Or perhaps, it was like being on the set of a horror mystery drama. Elspeth felt a chill as a gust of wind blew.
"Do you know that there have been incidents of people jumping off the rooftop of this hospital?" Slevin's gaze drifted into the distance as he uttered something rather perplexing.
Elspeth had no interest in engaging in idle chatter and went straight to the point. "So, what do you want to say?" she asked.
"Why don't we sit down and have a proper conversation?" Slevin casually selected a chair and sat down before patting the seat next to him.
Elspeth didn't want to share a chair with him, so she took a few steps back and crossed her arms. "It's
ok. I'm fine standing."
"It seems that you're not as adorable as before since you regained your memory."
Elspeth had no intention of hiding the fact that she had regained her memory, especially now that Damian had gone missing, which was her current biggest concern.
"So what?"
"But even though you're not as adorable as before, I still quite like you." Hearing him express his fondness toward her disgusted Elspeth.
"Can you please stop saying such repulsive things? I feel disgusted."
"Disgusted? Have you already come to dislike me this much?" Slevin appeared slightly surprised.
"I feel like what you're saying right now isn't the main point of our conversation today."
Elspeth smiled at him even though she was feeling nauseated inside in order to maintain a nonchalant demeanor. "Let me ask you, where is Damian?"
Hearing that, Slevin crossed his legs and gazed up at the night sky. "There's no need to worry about Damian."
"So, it really is you."
Elspeth couldn't quite grasp his intentions. If he had kidnapped Damian with some ulterior motive
toward her, why was he reluctant to reveal the truth? He seemed to be going around in circles with her.
"What do you mean by 'it really is me'? I have never admitted to doing this."
"Slevin, stop pretending. Deep down, you should know best who's the one behind it."
Unexpectedly, Slevin's smile disappeared from his face the next moment. "Everything I do is because of you." Slevin chuckled, but his laughter wasn't as warm as before. "Who told you to get involved with Callum again?"
"Slevin, don't you think that what you say sounds funny? He's my husband so why can't I be with him?" Elspeth slowly clenched her fists at her side.
"Husband?" Slevin suddenly threw his head back and burst into laughter. "I have been with you for over four years, yet you have no feelings for me. How long have you been married to him? Two years? Three years? Elspeth, put your hand over your heart and think. Haven't I been good enough to you? In the end, why did you choose him over me?"
Elspeth remained silent for a while until he gradually approached her. She took a few steps back and responded, "Time is not the sole measure of everything."
"Time is not the measure? What about emotions? Can't you feel any of my feelings for you?"
Elspeth furrowed her brow upon hearing that. "Just because you like me doesn't mean I have to be with you. I have no feelings for you, and I can't control that." After speaking, she suddenly thought of something and smirked. "Besides, do you have any genuine feelings for me?"
Slevin looked down at her with the light shining upon his head, clearly illuminating the madness in his eyes. "What do you mean by that?"
"I saw the file on your computer. You approached me with ulterior motives right from the start, didn't you?"
"That's right." Slevin grinned.
"Including the accident in the laboratory, it was all caused by you, wasn't it?"
"Yes." Slevin didn't deny it and immediately admitted to it.
"You deliberately approached me and orchestrated that explosion to make me lose my memory. Slevin, how could I possibly fall in love with you when you tried to keep me by your side using such means? Besides, your initial intention for approaching me wasn't because you liked me."
"Yes, you're right." Slevin nodded.
"Then let me ask you another question, where is my mentor, Sonny?"
