Hessins Daughter

Chapter Epilogue

....Epilogue

It is nearing winter upon the coast of Ra'vain. A small country between two wild kingdoms, the Abnaki and the Wild North. Here celebrations are common all year. During the harvest seasons it was the Red Zenith that got everyone rushing about, hanging lanterns and decorating fences, carts, houses and shops with corn stocks, squash and pumpkins. Tents were raised for for the harvest games!

Knights and squires practiced daily in the field, honing their skills for the upcoming matches while children ran through the streets with streamers in hand laughing gayfully as they participated in the Merchant games. Wore masks, watched exotic animals perform tricks, and acrobats putting on their jovial shows. Merchants came from everywhere! Crowding the streets with their carts, games and rare items for sale.

The air smelled fresh of earth and crisp frost. Mingled with the sweet aromas of cooked pumpkins, squashes, candy apples, spices and roasted fish. Game was brought from the Dark Forest, skinned and smoked for the larders storage. The ships in harbor creaked and groaned against each other as the sailors rushed to settle their cargo and latch their ships for the harsh winter to come. A celebrated affair here in the richest port of the land. For there was much to celebrate!

The Lord and Lady La Seine also prepared for the festivities. For this year they were hosts of the kingdoms Red Zenith. A masked ball was needed to be prepared, the royals banquet set up to perfection for it was said that the King himself would journey to the coast to join in on the festiv affairs.

In the ports main square where a mighty dragon statue reared up, wings expanded out, claws poised for battle and jaws smiling wide. A large gathering had formed, sitting upon crates, barrels, carts, haybales and even the cold stones themselves.

Standing next to the statue was a young, beautiful women robed in soft white mink furs and silver plated armor that sparkled as brightly as the snowflakes that threatened to fall. At her feet sat two young children, her son and daughter Azerial and Haden. Both twins and anxiously peering up at their mother. Next to them Jaer that panther was garbed in his own silver white armor although currently he favored the idea of laying quietly in hopes for a nap. Next to the white Ruce maiden stood the strong Raven of Ravengaurd, Bao’vein. His right hand rested on the hilt of a mighty blade warblade while his left looped around the maidens waist lovingly.

“Once upon a time....” The Ruce Maiden started in a clear and beautiful voice, it had said her voice was that of siren, calling all who would listen to join her within the embrace of the sea.

All listeners were silent. Poised and eager to hear the story of the great and Mighty dragon Hessin and his lovely daughter...Anereah.
