Chapter 19. The Future
Nyx gripped Meredith’s waist firmly as she released loads of her seed into the witch. Meredith, who had been moaning all this while riding Nyx, suddenly went quiet. Her body shook violently in ecstasy before collapsing on top of Nyx.
Nyx held her witch close to herself for a long time, none of them saying anything. Meredith’s slow beating heart felt so peaceful as it thrummed at Nyx’s chest. She ran her fingers through Meredith’s long black hair and kissed her on the forehead. She would have to wait for a while until Meredith collected herself. Well, she was a patient demon, especially when it came to her lover.
Finally, the witch gazed into Nyx’s eyes, a small shy smile on her blushed face. “Hey.”
“Hey.” Nyx smiled at her. “Feeling better?”
Meredith nodded and Nyx caressed her back, wrapping her other hand tightly around the witch’s waist. She would never tire of holding her witch to herself.
Ever since Nyx slaughtered her way out of Crescentra’s captivity, they couldn’t have enough of each other. For the past week, all they’d been doing was fucking. Over and over. Eventually, Nyx worried that it would be too much for her girlfriend. But each time, Meredith proved her wrong. The witch was just as hungry for her as she was for the witch.
Nyx didn’t think it was possible to fall more and more in love with her fated one. But that was exactly what was happening.
Still, she couldn’t help but feel a bit of trepidation about the future. She already had Green Front under control and her enemies were in the palm of her hands. So why was she so worried?
Being the strongest demon in the city, the entire demon community had no choice but to acknowledge her as their leader now that the Demon Circle was no more. It was demon code.
She had no interest in being the demon queen in the city. She’d never wanted that kind of power. If she did, she would be in Heldan. She only took on the responsibility to protect Meredith and her family.
With her new power, she persuaded all four communities to live in harmony with each other.
Each community was free to govern their own affairs however they pleased. Nyx would not interfere. However, there was one non-negotiable thing.
No community must attack the other. Demons and witches must not attack each other nor must vampires and werewolves. This rule applied to everyone. She threatened to ruthlessly deal with anyone who broke this rule.
Thankfully, all the supernatural communities of the city seemed eager to promote the peace and support her vision--something not even the Demon Circle fully had under control.
So far, things seemed to be going well.
Yet, something nagged deep within her.
It made her feel like the peace she had actively fought for in Green Front was the calm before the storm, and it made her uneasy. Nyx was not one to ignore her instincts. Something was definitely wrong.
Since her encounter with Crescentra, she couldn’t stop thinking about the things Ida said to her.
“You have a lot of powerful enemies, Onyx Castle.”Ida’s words echoed in her head.“Even your closest allies aren’t really your allies.”
She must not let the dead witch get into her head, but she also couldn’t help but mull over her words. Certainly, there must be some truth to it, right? Because then how else could Crescentra have captured her without help.
Ida’s magic was far stronger than the average Crescentra magic Nyx was used to. It was from incredibly powerful demoncraft, way beyond Nyx’s power. Had Nyx not suddenly evolved, she wouldn’t have been able to defeat Ida.
At first, Nyx thought Ida was borrowing Staslok’s demoncraft. But Staslok was merely a greater demon. Even if all seven powers of the Demon Circle volunteered their demon energy, Ida’s magic would not have been that strong.
Someone else was responsible. Someone a lot more powerful than Staslok or the other powers of the Demon Circle. A royal demon, Nyx was certain.
Was this what Ida meant when she told Nyx her allies weren’t really her allies? Did someone close to Nyx betray her? Was that how Ida came into magic powerful enough to hold Nyx prisoner?
But who would be so brazen to do that? Which royal demon?
The only royal demon close to her was Rexadan. He’d already betrayed her once. Did he really do it again? Nyx clenched her jaws, as the question weighed heavily on her heart.
So far Rexadan hadn’t given her any reason to suspect him. In fact, he was the one who helped Meredith find Nyx at Crescentra. But didn’t that prove that Rexadan knew something about this? How else would he have known where Crescentra was holding her? Maybe he decided to rescue her so she wouldn’t suspect him at all.
No.Nyx rubbed her temples. She had to stop being so paranoid. Ida was dead. Maybe this was Ida’s plan all along… to get her worried sick about things that didn’t even matter. Rexadan had been problematic in the past. But he’d been nothing but loyal ever since he returned.
Maybe there was someone else involved. Nyx wasn’t sure who yet. But sooner or later, she would find out. She was certain of it. There--
“Nyx, are you alright?” Meredith’s warm breath caressed Nyx’s neck. It quickly pulled her out of her thoughts.
She didn’t want to worry her girlfriend, but there was no point in hiding anything from her. “Just thinking about something,” said Nyx.
“Anything I can help you with?”
“No. Not yet,” said Nyx truthfully. “But I’ll let you know if I need help.”
“Okay.” Meredith nodded.
“By the way,” Nyx changed the subject, “I’ve been meaning to show you something I made for you.” The last time she tried to show her girlfriend the gift, Crescentra kidnapped her. Hopefully, no such thing will happen again.
“Oh, what is it?” Meredith’s excitement was contagious, and that made Nyx chuckle.
It was the metalwork she’d been working on when visions of Meredith tormented her at the beginning of the fated bond. Channeling the pain of the fated bond into her art was the only thing that kept her sane during that period.
“I’ll show it to you first thing in the morning.”
“First thing in the morning?” Meredith pouted. “You’re not even going to feed me first?”
Nyx laughed. “Okay fine. Breakfast first. More sex. Then I’ll show it to you. Deal?”
Meredith nodded, biting her lips so seductively it did things to Nyx’s heart. They both settled into a comfortable silence.
“Nyx,” she said softly, tracing the tips of her fingers along Nyx’s chest.
“Hmm.”
“Can Ezerix teach me how to fight?” Nyx raised a brow but her girlfriend seemed serious. “I need to learn how to protect myself,” Meredith explained. “I can’t always depend on you or Ezerix.”
Nyx sighed. She knew Meredith was right. As the new grand elder, Meredith needed to be stronger for her people. She was already upgrading her witchcraft, and if she combined magic with fighting skills, she would be deadly beyond belief. Thinking about that version of Meredith sent shivers through her body, her thick shaft twitching with need.
“Ezerix wouldn’t go easy on you,” said Nyx breathlessly. “Are you prepared for that?”
“Sure… I can’t afford to be weak anymore, Nyx. When Crescentra took you, I-I couldn’t do anything. I was too weak. If not for my parents’ spell, I would be dead by now. I don’t want to be a helpless damsel in distress who makes things harder for you, Nyx. I don’t want to be a burden.”
“My love, you’re never a burden.” Nyx caressed Meredith’s cheek. Why would the witch even think that? Meredith was everything to her. She could never be a burden. “I love you so much. And if I have to burn down the universe to protect you, then that’s exactly what I’ll do. But I also understand that you have to get stronger. I want that for you. For us. So I’ll support you however I can. I’ll be by your side every step of the way.”
“Really?” Meredith’s eyes were red with emotion. When Nyx nodded, Meredith captured her lips, kissing her with passionate hunger. Nyx kissed the witch right back, running her hand over the cheeks of her ass. Finally, Meredith pulled out of the kiss, and then staring at Nyx with fire in her eyes, she said, “I love you, Nyx.”
The words knocked the wind out of Nyx’s lungs, leaving her utterly speechless. While they’d been together for the past six months, this was the first time Meredith truly confessed her feelings. She’d always been worried that she was the only one who felt that way about Meredith because of the fated bond. Even though Meredith’s actions showed that she cared about Nyx, Nyx still wished that the witch would tell her those three little but powerful words.
And finally, the witch had done just that. It felt like everything was right with the world as the one person she loved above everything finally admitted she felt the same way.
“I love you too, Meredith.”
This was all that mattered. Even if there was a traitor in her midst, her love for Meredith would always prevail. Anyone who tried to get between them would be sorry. She would make sure of it.
Nyx gasped as Meredith took her stiff pole and began to rub gently. “Fuck, Meredith,” she whispered, her head spinning, “we need to get out of bed soon.”
In a low sultry voice that got Nyx even harder, Meredith asked, “Do you want me to stop?” She didn’t for a second lose her rhythm over Nyx’s cock.
“No.” Her voice came in ragged breaths. How could one woman have so much effect on her? It was insane.
“Good,” Meredith smirked. “Because I don’t want to stop either.” She kissed Nyx on the neck, then her boobs, sinking further to the nether regions of her body. Nyx ran her hands through Meredith’s silky hair, as her witch buried her face between her legs. She shut her eyes when she felt Meredith’s tongue probing her wet folds, while her other hand stroked her the length of her stiff pole.
Fuck. This witch would be the death of her. And Nyx would have it no other way. She couldn’t possibly imagine a future without Meredith.
Meredith was her witch, after all. And Nyx was her demon.
