Her Undeniable Temptation

Chapter Part 42

Anyway, it’s Tuesday night! January is just about to finish. A very crappy month in Zoe’s opinion. Nothing seemed to work out, sigh. Zoe, Bella, and Dora are chilling in Dora’s gigantic bed. They were going through her enormous closet trying on a different outfit, Bella was helping her choose what to wear and Zoe just lay on the bed staring at them.

Zoe has to admit that she was proud of how quickly Bella dropped Alex out of their conversation. Out of her phone and basically out of her life, maybe she finally realized that there is more of life than boys. This was the reason why soulmates or mates are hard to believe.

Some married couples who believe they are soulmates are divorced or having quarrels and killing one another somewhere.

That sounds really hypocritical coming from Zoe though. I mean the girl who is torn in between two guys, ahh well! “Oh my gosh, I look fat in this dress,” Dora complained in front of the mirror. Zoe was stretched on her bed now playing games on her phone.

Both Zoe and Bella stared at each other before staring at her. “Dora, you ain’t fat! It’s just PMS making you fat.” Zoe said, making Bella nod in agreement. “Yeah, Zoe is right! You ain’t fat.” Bella said going close to Dora.

“You look like a freakin model,” Bella said, smiling at her. “Eat some chocolate, it will make you feel better,” Zoe added. Life answers to everything; chocolate, at least that is what Lilian thinks. “Yeah, great idea, more food to go straight to my a*s,” Dora said in frustration Making all of them chuckle.

The next second Dora burst into tears. “Dora! What is wrong?” Bella and Zoe asked while going close to pat her on the back. “I don’t want Parker to leave me for some slut cause I’m fat,” Dora said crying out more loudly. Zoe was just about to console Dora when Bella busted out in tears too.

“Why did he leave me, is it because I have grown fat?” Bella said, making Dora increase the volume of her tears. “Who, Alex?” Zoe asked, making her nod in tears. Well, Zoe had thought she was over Alex! Guess not.

Zoe tried to pull both Bella and Dora to the bed as she sat in between them so they could rest their head on her shoulder. “It’s okay, don’t cry,” Zoe repeated a few times, she instantly felt like a mother confronting her kids.

“I miss him so much Zoe, so freaking much,” Bella said. “I thought you were over him?” Zoe asked. She was exasperated and furious at herself for the reason that Bella was in pain. “I have been trying to get over him but really he is just so perfect! You know?” She muttered in tears. Oh, Zoe knew a little too well, she sighed in frustration.

“I know I’m being a little baby but I will stop.” She said as she wiped her eyes. “You are not a baby crying over a breakup, I cry over Luke too,” Zoe admitted. “But that is different, you guys aren’t broken up for good. Are you?” She asked.

“No of course but it is still sad though,” Zoe replied quickly. “Yes, it is.” She agreed. After Dora was done, she wiped her tears and asked, “Who wants some movies, ice cream, and chocolate.” Zoe asked and they all went to watch the movie and also had the ice cream and chocolate, the ice cream, and chocolate again. It really helped because it seemed like they both had meltdowns after the fun.

The next day at school! Bella told Zoe that she wasn’t going to waste any more of her tears on Alex since he probably wasn’t wasting any of his on her. She had a point, before lunch Zoe was at a pop machine buying coke.

She bent down to retrieve it but somebody else was already there! Alex. She straightened up and held out her hand. “Can I please have that?” Zoe asked not to sound completely rude but a lot colder than she usually was to him! He raised an eyebrow. “Can we talk, first?” He contradicted.

“Oh, now you want to talk? I don’t think so.” She said sarcastically. Zoe went ahead to snatch her coke from his grip but he leaned out of her way. “Are you actually mad at me?” He asked surprised. “No, not in the least! Why would you think that?” Zoe said. She was on the roll with so much sarcasm.

He assessed her for a long moment before speaking. “Zoe, please tell me what I did so I can fix it.” He said, making her stare at him, she was contemplating. “Please, Zoe?” She sighed before giving in as usual. “You haven’t been talking to me,” she said quietly.

She sounded like a little kid pouting. Like Zack, Zoe knew that she could be such an idiot! His eyebrows were just about to shoot up into his hair.

“Are you kidding me? You are the one who has been avoiding me!” He practically g*****d. Zoe looked at the floor to hide my embarrassment. “Yeah, I know but___” She mumbled. “But you still wanted me to make an effort, right?” He finished.

She continued to examine the floor tile when she noticed him place a finger under her chin before raising her face up so Zoe had to look him in the eye, he sighed.

“Damn, I’m sorry Zoe! I just figured you wanted space, you know. Like, after the first party you came to talk to me at my house, you were really freaked out! I had a feeling that it was like that again. I know it must suck.” He explained.

Ugh, why did he have to be so great and understanding? Choosing between the two of them is hard enough without Alex being considerate.

“I’m sorry, forgive me please.” He asked, his hand still holding her chin. His eyes were doing a number on her concentration! “Fine, you can be forgiven… If only I could have my coke.” Zoe said with a smile, he smiled in return and gave it to her.

“Thanks,” he said. They walked around to the same bench where Zoe and Luke had sat on the other day. “So, what have you been up to?” He asked.

She rolled her eyes at his question. “Having a wonderful time being guilty.” She said, “Guilty huh, but I thought you and the lamp boy were on break for the new year?” He said. “Yeah we were, and still are actually! Wait! Lamp boy, who the heck is lamp boy?” Zoe asked with a laugh, he grinned. “Haven’t you noticed that your boyfriend’s hair makes him look like a lamp? Seriously.” He said.

“Lex?” Zoe called with a sigh, fighting a laugh. “Come on Zoe, doesn’t he?” Alex said as he burst out laughing which was totally contagious. When both of their laughter died down he leaned over and kissed her on the cheeks, instantly making her turn red.

“What was that for?” Zoe asked flustered, he shrugged. “I just thought you needed a k**s.” He said. “Lex…” Zoe called looking around.

“I know, sorry, I will keep my distance.” He said. “You don’t have to keep your distance, just no more kissing and whatever until I figure things out. It’s all really confusing” Zoe explained. “Yeah, I get it,” he replied. “But please don’t stop talking to me, it____ Well, it sucked. You know not having to talk to me, you have become one of my best friends.” Zoe said.

She hoped he wouldn’t think she was being all needy. “Awn Zoe, how sweet,” he said and wrapped his hands around her shoulder. She gave him a look that made him pull back. Smirking, “Okay, I will make you a deal. If you keep talking to me, I will keep talking to you! Okay?” he said.

“That seems simple enough, okay you have a deal,” Zoe said. “Good, let’s shake hands on it,” he said and held out his hands. She looked at him, ugh! He and his gorgeous smile, his gorgeous eyes. Zoe wondered if he has ever considered being a model.

She would have to ask him some other time. She shook his hand refusing to acknowledge the fricken butterflies that were dancing in her belly. As happy as she was at the moment of being with Alex, Zoe was still missing Luke on the inside.
