Her Undeniable Temptation

The week went by quickly, Luke and Zoe do talk on the phone and sometimes even do video calls. Dad had called her mum and to wish them a happy celebration in advance, Zoe had called Alex almost every day to make sure he hadn’t changed his mind about coming over for dinner, and football.

Zoe had talked Alex into coming to watch the big game with us. Zoe guessed she was pretty persistent! Oh well, there could be a lot of worse things she could do for him to come.

On the morning of the celebration. Her mom and her had woken up early to start preparing dinner because for some unknown reason to her! Everyone eats early on this specific holiday.

She had thrown on a pair of milky jeans and a pair of crop tops. She had not been much of a cook as she was a baker, her mum was just the only main ingredient in the kitchen. Without her it would be a total disaster, she mostly handled the things that had to do with the oven and while Lilian did the most on the stove.

Luckily it was going to be just the three of them eating today, she couldn’t imagine herself cooking for a large sum of people. Soon everything that had to do with baking was baking in the oven.

All they had to do was wait.

When Zoe had told her mum about Alex joining them for celebration and she had said didn’t mind in the slightest. Zoe thinks calling her beautiful has certainly earned him some major points from her mum and her.

Nevertheless, he showed up exactly when she asked him to! Right before football started. The three of them gathered into the living room around the tv to watch. Her mom spent most of the time answering calls from family members. Alex and Zoe kept full attention on the tv since Lilian sat in between them.

She felt relieved that she sat in between them, especially since he had gotten that dang l*p piercing and had also gotten a bit hotter.

Zoe didn’t need to be right against him. Lilian had told Alex how cool his piercing looked and how it suited him nicely. How many mothers compliment body piercing? During half the time Lilian got up to get everything ready Since the food was almost finished.

”I really need to admit. I am having a good time today, thank you for inviting me.” Nathan said giving me a grateful smile. ”See, I promised that you were going to have a nice time.” I replied. I felt happy to have made Nathan happy, as corny as that sound.

”So did you call Luke today?” Alex asked, stretching out next to her. ”Yeah, he is doing fine.” she replied.

”Sounds great!” Alex replied dully.

She knew Alex didn’t like Luke, it was so obvious. Especially how Luke had kissed her in front of him.

Truth be told! Luke was still her boyfriend, the guy she loved, so she didn’t exactly like Alex’s tone. ”It is great actually.” she said not close enough, Alex rolled his eyes and stretched again! His joints were popping this time making her flinch.

Zoe eyed her curiously. “What’s wrong?” He asked but she just didn’t like that sound. “I don’t like the sound!” She said,

”What sound? This?” Alex asked and cracked his knuckles making her flinch again.

”Alex, please don’t! I hate that.” She begged and he laughed, ”you hate the sound of joints and stuff cracking?” He asked and cracked each finger again. She slapped his arm. “I’m serious! Stop doing that or I might resort to violence.” She threatened.

He raised his eyebrows. ”I will only stop if you tell me why you hate it so much?” He asked. ”When I was eight, my older cousin Samuel cracked all his fingers back and pinned me to the ground. He had to be rushed to the Er because of the sprain it caused. He always did that, little a*****e. Now anytime I hear that cracking sound, It brings back cracking memories,” she explained, feeling embarrassed but Alex only ended up laughing.

Zoe has actually not told anybody yet except Dora, Alex just stared at her. ”What a shithead. What later happened to him?” Alex asked, interested.

”Well, my mum told my aunty off, she made it clear that if Samuel ever touched me. She wasn’t going to care but to call the police. That was the last time I saw Samuel or my mum.” Alex pursed his lips for a bit before saying. “This story actually makes me want to find that Samuel guy and give him a good kick.” Alex let out.

”Oh, hi mum.” she said, cutting Alex off. ”Dinner is ready, you guys should go have some.” Lillian said, gesturing to the kitchen. The food turned out delicious.

They both ate to their fill and then went back to the living room to watch the rest of the game. All in all, it was a very nice and enjoyable day. The game ended up kind of late! When it was over, Alex helped her with the dishes. Lilian had gone out with her friend for black Friday shopping. Zoe had gone with her during the last shopping and didn’t feel like going this time, shoppers could really go crazy.

The last time two women had gotten into a fistfight because of an ax, come on. Alex stayed after dinner and most of the evening, Zoe got the impression that he was taking every moment.

Since he’d be going back home to an empty house. “It looks like I’m the one that owes you now, Zoe.” Alex’s voice came. She raised an eyebrow before smiling. ”You owe me nothing, Alex. I just wouldn’t be happy knowing you are alone during the holiday.” she said, yawning.

”Why does turkey make me tired?” She asked. ”You know, I don’t mind being alone. Okay, sometimes it totally sucks and sometimes I’m glad.” Alex explained.

Zoe knew he didn’t mean it. If he didn’t mind being alone he couldn’t still be at her house by midnight. “yeah, I guess.” She mumbled trying to hide another yawn but he noticed. ”I should probably go so you can get some sleep?” Alex said and stood up.

”You don’t have to go if you don’t want to.” Zoe said, sitting up and cleaning her eyes, “Nah, I’m totally ready to pass out.” Alex said.

”Oh, who is calling me?” Alex said, bringing out his phone. He checked the caller id and frowned slightly, he turned off his phone but before he could do that, Zoe saw the caller, Bella.

Why in the world was Bella calling Alex at this time of the night? And why did Nathan turn off his phone? Zoe tried to act like she didn’t see the number. “Nobody important?” she asked casually.

He shrugged. ”I will call them later,” he muttered. ”Huh, that’s weird!” she said so only she could hear.

”Well, I will take my leave,” Alex said. ”Do you want leftovers to take home?” Zoe asked Alex. He shook his head smiling.”No thank you, I have eaten so much today that I had to lose weight.” Alex said jokingly.

”Alright then, goodnight.” She said, ”Goodnight and goodbye, please tell your mum thanks for me!” Alex said.

”Will do just that,” she replied and he was gone. Her heart kept racing as she watched him through the living room window entering his car.

She still wondered why Bella had called?

Zoe wondered if they talk all the time too? That thought left her with a mixture of jealousy and a kind of hurt feeling. She wondered if this was what It felt like to find out your boyfriend was seeing someone behind your back.

God, of course, Alex wasn’t her boyfriend, just the guy she happened to be friends with. She has no right to feel like this but she couldn’t help it, I’m only but a wolf with choices to make, right? She wished Luke would come back home soon! She needs a distraction from this immediately.
