Chapter 29
29
The next morning, Rachel wakes up with a jolt, her heart pounding in her chest. She had had a nightmare about the night her father died and it left her shaken.
Rachel wakes up in a cold sweat, her heart pounding in her chest. She tries to shake off the lingering feelings of fear and dread from the nightmare, but it is difficult. Her mind is filled with images of the night her father died, and she can't help but feel a sense of unease and vulnerability.
She tries to distract herself by getting out of bed and going through her morning routine, but the feeling of dread lingers. She is anxious about seeing her boss at the office and can't help but feel like he is someone she should avoid. She takes a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves and remind herself that it's just a nightmare, but it's hard to shake off the feeling of fear and vulnerability as she gets ready for the day ahead.
As she lay in bed, she tried to push the thoughts out of her mind, but they lingered like a dark cloud. She dragged herself out of bed and got ready for work, trying to shake off the remnants of the nightmare.
She tries to shake off the feeling as she gets out of bed and makes her way to the bathroom. She turns on the shower and as the warm water cascades over her body, she tries to focus on the present and push the memories of the dream out of her mind.
As she washes her hair, she can't help but keep reliving the nightmare in her mind. She sees her father's face in front of her, twisted in pain as he lay on the ground, bleeding.
She tries to shake off the feeling and focus on the present. She steps out of the shower, wraps a towel around her and goes to her room to get dressed for work.
She puts on a simple blouse and a pair of trousers, trying to keep her mind occupied as she gets ready for work. She brushes her hair, puts on some light makeup and heads to the kitchen to make herself something to eat. She makes a quick breakfast of toast and scrambled eggs, trying to push the dream out of her mind as she eats.
As she was getting dressed, she thought about her boss, Leo. She had been trying to push thoughts of him out of her mind since the elevator episode, but they kept creeping back in.
As she made her way to the office, she found it almost impossible to shake the feeling of dread that settled in the pit of her stomach. She knew that seeing Leo would be difficult, especially after the way he had been acting lately. He had been so kind to her one moment and then cold and distant the next. It was almost as if he was bipolar.
When she arrived at the office, her fears were confirmed. A wave of dread came upon her the moment she saw Leo at the thought of seeing her boss, Leo. She had been trying not to think about him in a different way since the elevator episode, but it was hard to shake off the feelings of attraction she had towards him.

Leo was in a foul mood, snapping at everyone who crossed his path. Rachel tried to stay out of his way, but it was impossible to avoid him completely. She found herself constantly on edge, wondering when his next outburst would be. The day dragged on and on, and Rachel found herself counting down the minutes until she could leave. She was relieved when it was finally time to go home.
As the work day came to a close, Rachel made her way over to Celine's desk. "Hey, how's it going?" Rachel asked, trying to shake off the remnants of her nightmare from earlier that morning.
"It's going well, thanks for asking. How about you? You seem a little out of it," Celine replied, looking up from her computer.
"I had a nightmare last night and it's been playing on my mind all day," Rachel admitted. "But I'm trying not to let it affect my work. How are things with you?"
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Things are alright, just busy as usual. But I'm always up for a drink after work if you're free," Celine said, giving her a sympathetic smile.
"That sounds great, thank you. I could use a drink to take my mind off things," Rachel said, feeling a sense of relief. Do you want to meet at the usual spot at 6?"
"Sure, that works for me. See you then," Celine said, returning her attention to her computer.
She met up with her friend Celine for a drink and they caught up on old times. They laughed and reminisced about their high school days, and for a moment, Rachel forgot about her troubles.
Afterwards, they met up with Rachel's mother and they all went out to dinner. They had a nice meal together and Rachel tried to push all thoughts of Leo out of her mind. But as she sat there, surrounded by her loved ones, she felt a twinge of sadness.
Celine and Rachel agreed to meet at a trendy bar in the city center after work. The bar was dimly lit, with a cozy atmosphere and a relaxed vibe. The walls were adorned with vintage posters and the furniture was made of dark wood. The bar itself was made of polished marble and the bartenders were mixing up colorful cocktails behind it.
Soft music played in the background, adding to the ambiance of the place. They were greeted by the hostess and shown to a table for two by the fireplace. They took a seat and perused the menu, deciding on what to order.
Celine suggested a round of Margaritas while Rachel decided on a glass of red wine. They settled in, chatting and catching up on each other's lives while they waited for their drinks to arrive.
Back at home, Rachel tried to sketch but she couldn't seem to focus. Her mind kept drifting back to Leo and the way he had been acting. She couldn't understand why he was being so difficult and it made her feel uneasy. She finally gave up and went to bed, but sleep was a long time coming.
