Chapter 19
Chapter Nineteen
Diana watched as he drove out of the compound. She knew he had stopped to see if he was going to see her but no, she was inside refusing to come out to avoid talking to him. In one way or the other, she wasn't angry anymore. She had thought of looking for his trouble when he is back tonight. She had decided to take a day off from work and she doesn't have any modeling shoot today until the next day.
She walked to her refrigerator and poured herself a glass of water. Then her phone rang. It was Sam. Of course, Sam had collected her number. At the first ring, she didn't pick up. She doesn't want to think about not having kids again. This made her so sad.
On the third ring, she thought that picking up her call won't hurt.
She smiled and swiped the receive icon.
"Sabrina." Sam's voice was loud over the phone.
"Samantha, it's Diana. If you want me to pick up your call next time, you have to call me Diana." She corrected.
"Oh sorry, my friend." Sam apologized.
"It's no problem. Just a reminder." Diana told her.
"Okay. I won't forget next time. The day after tomorrow is my birthday and I am inviting you. I want you to be there." Same said.
"Oh, it's your birthday. Hmm...I don't think I will be able to come. I have so many things on my schedule right now." Diana stated.
Same felt disappointed and she could feel it. She felt bad for turning her down right away just because of her kids. She doesn't want a situation whereby Sam would ask her a question she won't be able to answer.
"But why? You are the only friend I could invite. Please come. Please." Samantha pleaded.
As she was about to refuse, she lets out a deep, exhausted sigh.
"Fine. Happy birthday in advance anyways." Diana wished her.
"Thank you so much. Could you come over to help me pick out the dresses I would be wearing? Please."
"Alright, Samantha. I would be there in an hour. I need to round up somethings over here."
"I will be expecting you. I will text the address to you."
Diana disconnected the call. She dropped her phone on the couch and prepared breakfast for herself. She took three slices of bread and a cup of tea. She took her bath and dressed up in a black gown that was above her knees. The hem was resting on her thighs.
She picked out sneakers to match them. Styling her hair into a high ponytail, she applied makeup and she was ready.
As a model, she needed to represent her brands well. Taking her car key, she picked up her bag and went to her car.
She entered and drove out of the house. As she drove past some places, she wouldn't stop seeing her pictures everywhere. Both the billboard, on the magazine, right in front of a mall. She just hoped the brand she works for will promote her soon so they can pay her higher.
She smiled and put on her sunglasses.
She followed the lead of the GPS and soon enough, she came to a halt and stopped right in front of a tall, huge building. It was painted in green and pink color. She admired it. Green had always been her favorite color ever since she was little. "You have reached your destination." The GPS beeped.
She removed the car key and stepped out.
She dialed Sam's number and immediately she came out to see her.
"It's so good to see you again, my friend." Sam squealed.
"Right. So good to see you too." Diana replied.
Sam walked Diana into the house.
Diana couldn't help but admire the interior decorations of the living room and guest room. The living room was so large. It was then Diana understood that Sam's husband was fully loaded. He would be some kind of a rich guy. Not that she was planning to steal him away. She would never do that.
"Your house is nice." She told her.
"Really? Do you wanna see around?" Samantha asked. "Sure." Diana smiled.
Samantha thought it would be nice to take her high school friend around her house but deep down she wanted to know why she changed her name to Diana. Normally, she was Sabrina. She took Diana down to the movie room in the house. "Wow, you have a movie room too?" Diana asked.
"Of course, my husband thought instead of going to the movies. Why can't we just have ours right here in the house? I was so excited just as you are." Sam explained.
Diana smiled. She guessed her husband must be so sweet.
"That's great." She muttered.
She took Diana to the kitchen. It was as large as the movie room. The utensils were sparkling. She was wowed by everything. "You know I want to come to your house too sometime. I am sure your house would be much more bigger and beautiful than this. I mean you have always dreamt to build a very big mansion. That has a swimming pool." Sam said.
"You know I have such great taste in everything," Diana told her and smiled but deep down she knew that Samantha's house was much more beautiful. She promised herself to work harder to build more than Samantha's house. Lastly, she took her to the swimming pool. It was so beautiful. Diana couldn't help but find it attractive.
"You have got a swimming pool, too?" Diana asked, feeling amazed.
"Of course, yes. You do too right?"
"Yes, I do," Diana replied, acting all classy.
They both stood quiet for a while watching the pool. Diana found the silence awkward.
"You have finally achieved your dreams right?" Samantha suddenly asked.
Diana looked at her. "What do you mean?"
"I mean look at you now, you are the biggest and hottest model in town now. Soon, your name would be known across all countries. You have made it big girl. But why?" Samantha said. She looked confused. "Why what?"
"Why do you change your name?"
