Chapter 280
Chapter 280
She knew there was no way she would look decent when she ate. but she just couldn't care less. I would rather look ugly than
starve to death. Furthermore, I've already broken up with Evander, so why should I care about how I look?
Seeing that Angeline was eating so happily, Evander kept mum and took a wet wipe to wipe off the dirt on her face.
The moment the wet wipe touched the comer of Angeline's lips, she suddenly stopped eating.
Evander continued wiping her mouth as if he didn't notice her reaction.
His eyes were ablaze when his fingers brushed across Angeline's lips, and he swallowed a lump in his throat.
Angeline immediately turned away and reminded in a distant tone. “Have some self-respect, Mr. Golding.”
Evander regained his senses when he heard what she said. He acted naturally and threw the wet wipe away.
“Is there any part of your body that I haven't seen?"’ he asked flatly.
Angeline felt uncomfortable, and she instinctively covered her chest with her hands as she glared at him. “Stop it! We've already
broken up, so you're not allowed to touch me.”
At that moment, her wariness grew, and she was afraid that Evander would lose liis self-control.
Little did she know Evander found her actions rather amusing.
“You sound energetic. Looks like you're actually fine,” he replied in a deep voice, looking more relaxed.
Angeline snorted. “I was fine since the beginning, so don't expect me to be grateful for your treatment.”
She placed her weight on the wall and slowly stood up.
Indeed, she was feeling fine after having replenished her energy. She only passed out in the cellar because she was exhausted.
However, she wasn't entirely honest with Evander.
Deep down, Evander's emergence was a pleasant surprise for her.
If not for him, she would have totally fr eaked out because she had been all alone in the dark cellar.
Angeline rose to her feet. She was slightly confused when she saw that no one else was around.
She turned toward Evander and asked, “What are you doing here on Linlow Island? Could it be—”
“Golding Group is introducing a new batch of peach wine, so I came to check tilings out,” Evander interrupted expressionlessly.
“Oh. That's what I guessed.” Angeline chuckled awkwardly. “However, I didn't expect someone of your status to come to the
island personally.” Most importantly, something bad seems to happen every time I meet Evander. Is that why I ended up falling
into a cellar?
“I'm also surprised to see you here.” Evander squatted down and started scrutinizing the peach wine in the cellar.
“I came to look for Joel Quinn. Nancy told me he has unique designs, so I came to see if I could get him to work for Forrester
Group,” Angeline said honestly. Since we're in the same boat, I don't see why I shouldn't tell him.
“You came all the way here for a designer? You're quite invested in Forrester Group, aren't you?”
“Well, I can't afford to lose my only bargaining chip. By the way, I need you to promise me something.”
Evander's interest was piqued when he saw the serious look in Angeline's eyes. With a smile on liis face, he said. “Go on.”
Angeline humbled herself and put on a gentle expression. “Sebastian misses Floretta a lot. You know how innocent relationships
are between children, right? I hope the kids won't get affected by the rift between us.”
Evander did not respond.
Seeing that the man didn't turn her down immediately, she continued, “So I was wondering if Floretta could come over to stay
with me once everything in Forrester Group settled down.”
Without a change in expression. Evander agreed readily, “Sure.”
Angeline was surprised by his response. In a suspicious tone, she asked, “Are you saying it's okay?”
“I'm okay with Sebastian and Floretta meeting up. but for safety reasons, they can only see each other in the Golding residence.
Floretta likes the food you make, so you should cook whenever you come over. That's something you can do in return.”
In response to liis cunning proposal, Angeline couldn't help but glare at him. Is he expecting me to show' up with Sebastian at the
Golding residence? Doesn't that mean I'll most probably bump into Olivine? What is this man up to?
“Don't you think that's inappropriate, Mr. Golding?” Angeline suppressed her anger. “Considering our past relationship, I'm not
interested in seeing you and your fiancee showing up in front of me.”
“You won't see her,” Evander answered casually.
What does that mean? Angeline seemed confused. Aren't they getting married soon? Judging by liis response, it seems that he's
not planning to stay with Olivine. That's a wreird lifestyle for a married couple, no? Angeline wanted to get to the bottom of it, but
she saw how focused he was on the peach wine.
In fact, she even saw him whipping out a notebook and a pen to make notes.
Angeline decided to not interrupt him after seeing how’ focused he was.
Nevertheless, Evander's response made her feel inexplicably better, and she used a hand to hide the smile that crept up her
face.
“Where are you, Mr. Golding?” Right then, Nigel's concerned voice rang out.
Evander was brought back to liis senses, and he picked up a rock next to him before hurling it against the wall.
Soon, Nigel found the entrance to the cellar. He peeked inside and uttered in a baffled tone, “Hey, Mr. Golding! How did you end
up inside here? Are you all right?”
“Cut the crap!” Evander's expression wras cold, and there was a hint of frustration in his eyes.
Nigel immediately put on a serious expression and pointed in the innermost direction of the cellar. “Mr. Golding, that's where we
keep the ladder. If you can't climb up on your own, I'll go down to help you.”
Evander wrent to fetch the ladder and placed it under the entrance to the cellar.
He looked at Angeline and said, “After you.”
“Okay.” Instead of refusing the offer. Angeline shot Evander a grateful look before putting her hands on the ladder.
Following Nigel's guidance. Angeline began to climb up the ladder.
Although it wasn't a gruesome task. Angeline gasped in pain shortly after she stalled climbing the ladder because she had
injured her legs prior to that.
