Her Precious Baby

Chapter 23

After Angeline finished treating Floretta’s wound, the ingredient and tools for baking a cake were delivered to the office.
Staring at the tools, the girl asked seriously, “Is there anything that you need, Angel? If there is, I’ll ask someone to buy it for
you.”
Angeline examined the items and put on an apron. “It’s all present. There wouldn’t be a problem even if I were to open a cake
shop here.”
Usually, when she wasn’t working, she would stay in her house. Celebrities had very little freedom outside their own house, as
even a trip to the supermarket would mean getting their pictures taken by the paparazzi. In order to avoid any issues, she would
cook in her own home. After a while, she got pretty good at cooking, especially baking.
While she was making the cake, Floretta excitedly hopped around her and stared at what she was doing with curiosity.
Occasionally, the girl would poke at or touch something.
Floretta looked very much like a porcelain doll. Her skin was fair with a hint of rosiness. She was wearing a small dress and had
hair buns on her head. She was a ball of pure cuteness and joy, especially when she kept praising Angeline for how pretty the
woman was.
Angeline had always liked children, which was why she was very patient. After she asked the girl to wash the strawberries, she
taught her how to decorate the cake.
The final product was excellent. As she jabbed the candles into the cake, she asked, “Oh yeah. How old are you?”
Floretta lifted her small hand and spoke softly. “I’m five years old!”
“Then let’s put six candles here.”
With a confused look in her wide eyes, Floretta stared at Angeline and asked, “Why six?”
Angeline explained tenderly, “When I was a kid, my parents hoped that I could grow up safely and healthily. So, every year,
they’ll add an extra candle as a sort of blessing.”
“Then I want to grow up quickly too! Put six candles on the cake for me.”
“All right.”

After the candle was put on the cake, Angeline smiled at Floretta, who was closing her eyes and making a wish with a serious
look.
However, as time passed, her smile became forced. Why is her birthday also today? This is such a coincidence. If my child were
still alive, they would be celebrating their birthday today too.
“I’ve made my wish!” Floretta exclaimed.
“Then let’s cut the cake.” Angeline’s expression swiftly returned to normal. A long time had passed since she lost her child. Many
things happened during that period. The pain she had to bear was no longer just the agony of losing her child, which was why
she had been able to act unfazed ages ago.
Sitting on the couch, Floretta was initially pretty happy as Angeline fed her the strawberry cake. Then her eyes suddenly turned
red, and her chewing speed slowed down.
Sensing that something was wrong, Angeline asked, “What’s the matter, Floretta?”
The moment she asked that question, Floretta sniffed and cried.
“Why are you crying right now? Is the cake not good?” Angeline panicked.
“No...” As Floretta shook her head, she raised her arm and rubbed her tears away. “I’ve never eaten such a delicious cake
before.”
Seeing how much the girl was crying, Angeline was at a loss. Hence, she just hugged the girl and patted her back. “Don’t cry,
okay? It’s fine. If you want to eat more in the future, I’ll make some for you.”
Just as she spoke, the door to the office was suddenly opened. Four to five people promptly entered the office. Those people
were department heads and a secretary, and they were all surrounding Evander. They had just returned from a meeting.
The secretary pushed the door open and heard the sound of a child crying, prompting the person to turn and look at where it was
coming from.
Everyone’s line of sight landed on the couch. Evander’s precious daughter was currently being comforted in a woman’s embrace
as she cried, “Mommy...”
All of them, including Evander, were stunned when they heard that.
