Her King

Chapter 46

Regina’s POV

Tonight is the union ceremony, then tomorrow will be our wedding. Even though Nonna and Uncle know about the ceremony but they will not be a part of it. There are some people in Atlas’s kind who are not welcoming towards humans. So just to avoid any conflict, we didn’t invite them.

These people might have issues with me also, but Atlas said I don’t need to worry about them as he will take care of them if they speak a word against me.

Although, I am not concerned about this at all because if these people try to spoil my happy moments then they will witness how quickly I can say goodbye to my humanity and skin them alive.

Running my hand over the front of my dress, I smooth my dress while waiting for Atlas. Atlas has gifted me a strapless red gown, something which I have never tried. And I am surprised how perfectly it suits me.

The gown looks regal yet modern and after wearing it I feel a different kind of confidence inside me. The kind of confidence which comes when you are aware of how immaculate you are looking.

Along with the dress, he has also sent me a piece of exquisite diamond jewelry which is of his mother’s because he wanted me to wear something of his mother’s.

At first, I was skeptical about wearing his mother's jewelry because it felt wrong like I am tainting her memories. But then I realize just like me even he wants to honor his mother by making her memories part of our special occasion. So I happily obliged his wish to wear his mother's jewelry.

Unintentionally, my hand drops to my stomach, and a small smile appears on my lips. I still don't know if I am pregnant or not, because it is something which I want to find with Atlas and until now I haven't got a chance to talk to him about this.

Honestly, I feel I am ready to embrace motherhood because I am not afraid of what lies ahead of me in my life. The moment I think about Atlas then all my fears of the future vanish because I know as long as I have him with me then everything will be fine... we will be fine.

After the firm knocks, the door opens and Gordon enters the room.

He keeps his eyes trained at the ground, as he speaks.

"Your Majesty is waiting for you and asked me to escort you to the venue."

"Thank you, Gordon." I smile at him and gesture to him, to take me to Atlas, with my hand.

We stop in front of two large doors I glance at him in puzzlement when he stops me from walking ahead.

I think these doors lead outside but I am not sure, as I was missing Atlas and wanted to meet him so I had cut my house tour short and straight away went to him without even seeing what was behind these doors.

"Please take out your heels." He kneels in front of me waiting for me to hand him my heels, "It will be easier for you to walk barefoot rather than with heels." He explains when I look at him questioningly.

Taking out my heels, I place them on the side and hold his extended hand briefly silently asking him to stand up. I respect that he is loyal and takes his duties seriously, but he is not a slave nor anyone in this place is. All will be treated with equal respect and dignity.

"I have to put this blindfold our your eyes." He takes out a blindfold from his pocket causing me to arch an eyebrow at him, "This the first ritual." He quickly adds when he notices my stern expression.

"You have to walk to your other half just by following the pull without the help of your sight." He explains, "We don't need our senses to find our other half, our heart leads us to them. You are his soul and his heart will call his soul towards him... you have to just listen to his call."

It doesn't take me a moment to realize, this ritual is more like a test of whether I am truly his soul or not. This test will also define the strength of our bond.

"Gordon, let's make this a little more interesting." I smirk while looking at the confused and somewhat scared man in front of me, "I will not only find my Atlas, but I will also find him in under ten minutes."

"No, it is not that easy." He quickly shakes his head looking worried.

"I just have to follow my heart and listen to Atlas's heart, it is as easy for me as breathing." Taking the blindfold from his hand, I secure it around my eyes, while a confident smile spreads over my lips.

Wind touches my face making my hair blow on my shoulders as soon as I push the doors open, confirming my assumption that it leads outside.

Stepping outside, I try to hear anything but now everything is completely covered in silence. The only sound which I can hear is the sound of my breathing.

Flexing my toes, I feel the soft grass beneath my feet and take my first step in the left direction.

I can feel Atlas's presence around me so I just have to let my heart decide the path for my feet to reach towards him.

Thrills and excitement surge through me because I just love this feeling of the chase.

Suddenly, I hear Atlas calling my name which causes me to stop in a mid-step. His voice comes from the opposite direction. When I have turned to move in that direction then from somewhere else he calls my name making me slightly confused.

However, then abruptly I hear him calling my name clearly like he is standing just a few feet away from me. I am tempted to follow his voice but something in me stops me. Although, it is Atlas's voice and I can feel him near me, but my heart is not feeling the way it reacts when he is around me.

Just the sound of his voice brings this calming sensation inside me, blanketing my whole being in this wonderful warmth.

So, ignoring the voice I focus on the feelings which his presence brings to my heart. Momentarily, I allow myself to bask in the feeling which stirs inside me when he is near.

I can hear his voice from every direction but I start walking towards the direction where my heart is taking me to. The more I walk in that direction, the more I feel like I am walking towards my missing half.

I can almost see him standing in front of me behind my closed eyes which cause me to quicken my steps while a smile tilts the corner of my lips.

Smugness slips into my smile when I am standing right in front of him. Although I can't see him, however, the way my heart beating crazily yet I feel calm is enough to tell me that I have found him.

"Go find your own Regina," I speak loudly with a smirk, quietening all those voices who are calling my name, "Because this Regina only belongs to her King." Taking a step towards him, I lift my hand and rest it above his heart whose rhythm is matching the beats of my own heart.

His arms go around me as he holds me against his chest.

"Found you." Tilting my head up, I whisper with a smile and press my lips against his when I feel him brushing his lips against mine.
