Her King

Chapter 44

Regina’s POV

I am feeling so much refreshed when I wake up today. I think I really needed some peaceful hours of sleep to be myself again.

However, I slightly get surprised when I notice I am not alone in the room. A girl and a slightly older lady are standing in the corner of the room, even though they don’t seem like a threat but I won't lower my guards.

The girl quickly goes out of the room and within a few minutes, she returns with a tray.

“Good morning.” She carries the tray towards me, “Your coffee.” She doesn’t meet my gaze as if she is afraid.

Silently, I pick up the coffee and keep studying both of them. She quickly dashes off towards the corner and stands there.

“Your Majesty said you love to have your coffee in bed.” The other lady adds when I don’t show any indication to drink the coffee.

Atlas’s name causes me to slightly relax, and I take a tentative sip.

The perfect bitter and sweet taste of coffee nearly makes me moan in bliss.

“This is amazing.” I sigh contentedly while inhaling the aroma of the coffee, “Best coffee I have had in a while.”

The small smile that lifts on the corner of the girl’s lips makes me smile as well. But she quickly straightens her face, when notices my stare.

“You can smile, laugh, or talk.” I raise my eyebrows at her, “I might have a resting bitch face but I am not really a bitch.”

“Unless someone gets on my wrong side.” After a moment, I add with a shrug.

“You know, you both can come closer.” I glance at them because they both are standing near the corner, “I don’t bite, like you guys.” I keep my face straight.

This makes her and the other lady slightly laugh, and I feel the tension leaving their body.

"Do you need anything?" The woman, whose name yet I have to discover, asks. Actually, I don't know either of their names so I feel stupid.

"Yeah, how about your names?" I look at her, then the girl.

"My name is Susan, and she is Hilda." The girl finally manages to smile fully.

"It's nice to meet you both." I smile at them, "I am Regina."

"We know, who you are." She smiles back and winks, "Actually, everyone knows who you are and we are really excited to have you here."

"Can you give me a tour of this place?" I finish my coffee and place the mug on the bedside table, "So that I know my way around." Gathering my hair, I tie them in a bun.

"I would love to." Susan nods her head enthusiastically with a big grin, "Only if you want." Her face falls a little when Helda subtly glares at her probably thinking I would mind her eagerness.

"Okay, then you will be my guide for today." Smiling at her, I get up, "Just give me ten minutes," I say over my shoulder while walking towards the bathroom to freshen up.

Atlas' POV

Lifting my eyes from the papers in front of me, I glance at Gordon. He has been around for centuries; he had met his soul nearly at the same time he had found his beast. He might have any idea what is going on with me and Regina.

Since I don't to whom I can ask about this, so I decided I should ask him.

"Gordon, there is something which I need to ask you." Pushing the paper slightly to the side, I lean back in my chair.

"Yes, Your Majesty." He turns to me fully attentive.

"When you have claimed your soul after that have you ever felt some changes in your mark?" I ask, making sure not to reveal much.

"Every marking is different," he speaks after thinking for a while, "Just like every mark is different from each other. So I can't really answer your question."

"Mark is a sign that shows the world that we belong to someone else. But at the same time, it is really a powerful connection, which can't be explained or understand." His stare is fixed on the table, while his face has a soft expression giving away that he is thinking about his soul.

Before I can ask him something else, my gaze shifts to the door while my heart picks up speed in anticipation. A moment later, there is a knock on the door then the door opens revealing my Regina.

"May I come in, Your Majesty?" Her lips twist into a playful smirk.

"Yes, you may." I nod my head, impassively which makes her smirk turns into a smile.

"I will take your leave." Gordon stands from his chair, and picks up the papers, "I am personally looking over the living arrangements of the guests, so I will make sure they have a pleasant stay." He slightly bows his head, looking at me then he glances at Regina.

"Thank you so much, Gordon." She smiles gratefully at him, which makes him blush.

"It is my honor to provide my services to you and your family." He smiles and then leaves the room closing the door behind.

"Your Majesty." She walks towards me, with a teasing glint in her eyes.

"Yes, my Queen." Slightly moving my chair away from the table, I open my arm.

She lightly laughs causing a smile to appear on my face.

"I missed you." She sits in my lap, places a kiss on my lips.

"How are you feeling?" Holding her face, I caress her cheek with my thumb.

"Great." She smiles while relief spreads over my heart hearing this.

"I am sorry, I was not able to personally give you the tour of the house. I was busy with work." I kiss her forehead, "I hope you have liked everything around here."

"I loved it." She smiles, "It feels like home."

"It is, home." A small sigh leaves my lips recalling the days, when I used to live here with my parents, and how this place was filled with so much life. This entire town was once filled with people, not just with the empty houses which tell the tale of its inhabitants.

"If you want we can make this our home." She gazes into my eyes reading my emotions, "In fact, this is going to be our home... We all can live here together, you, me, Theo, and Felix. All in one place, it will be so much fun."

"What about your work?" I raise my eyebrows.

The thought of living here really excites my heart, but it is nearly three hours away from the city. It will not be difficult for me to shift back here but it might not be easy for her.

"What about that?" She frowns, "I can really enjoy some long drives, not a big deal." She brushes off as if is the distance from home to her work is not something to be concerned about.

I smile at her while my heart warms the way she is ready to move here with me without caring about anything, just because she sensed how much this place means to me.

Each day she gives me a reason to be grateful that I am blessed to have her as my soul... my other half.
