Her King

Chapter 42

The break-in that had happened in my office record room was done by Carlos. Raymond told me he gathered information on them and found out that they were trying to take over our company. They had shares in our company and by proposing a marriage proposal for me they thought they could get everything since I would be inheriting dad’s company, but dad declined their offer and bought back all the shares from them because he figured their ill intentions.

However, when they found out about me and Atlas, they thought they can use me against Atlas by manipulating me and also they can get my company. But what they didn’t realize I am not a fool to fall into their words, and whereas when it comes to Atlas I can leave everything for him, but not him.

But now I don’t have to worry about them or anyone, as Atlas has already taken care of them.

I smirk while recalling their screams when King was tearing their flesh. Raymond nudges me with his elbow and raises his eyebrow questioningly at me, making me realize I am in a meeting.

When the meeting end and I step outside the meeting room Raymond is hot on my heels.

“Gina, when are you planning to take off?” He asks while pressing the elevator button as we wait for the elevator, “Please, don’t tell me you are planning to work even on your honeymoon.”

“No, I am not, on my honeymoon I am planning to a lot of other things but working is not one of them,” I smirk, making him shake his head at me in amusement.

“Leave everything and just enjoy your last few days of being single as your wedding is in just three days.” He smiles as we step into the elevator.

His words bring a smile to my face, as in three days I will be becoming Mrs. King officially in front of everyone.

Deciding to follow his advice, I quickly wrap all my work for the day and head home. Since I have already cleared my schedule for the next two months as I just want to spend my time with Atlas without worrying about anything, I am officially on a leave.

I don’t have to do anything as all the preparation for the wedding is taken care of. Atlas and I will be getting married at his ancestral home as Atlas put forward his wish in front of nonna that he wants to get married in the place where his parents got married. Nonna was more than happy to know that he values his family so much and that he even thought to take her permission even when it was not required, and gladly accepted his wish.

While the rest of my family is just thrilled to know that, now we will be having a destination wedding since Atlas’s ancestral home is not here, and they all will be coming there to stay to attend the wedding. Whereas I can’t wait to see their reaction when they will find out that Atlas’s ancestral home is actually a palace.

Gosh, I still can’t believe that Atlas is a king... a real king.

My nose scrunched up in disgust when a pungent smell reaches my nose, almost making me gag. Since my senses are becoming sharp I am having a little difficultly adjusting to them, as my nose has become really sensitive along with my hearing. Now I realize why Atlas hates going out in public as all these smells can make you nauseatic.

Thinking about Atlas makes me realize how much I am missing him, so instead of going home and wait for him there I decide to meet him at his work.

Atlas has been busy overlooking the preparations of the wedding to make sure everything goes smoothly as many people will be coming to attend the wedding. Honestly, I was not hoping for a big wedding because I would have preferred a simple wedding, but Atlas explained to me that this will be the first wedding in his family in years as the last wedding their people have seen in his family was of his parents, so everyone is really excited about our wedding. So he doesn’t want to hurt their feelings. Even though in Atlas’s world we are married, but there are some rituals that are required for us to perform since Atlas is a king.

So before our human wedding, we will be completing these rituals in front of his people and announcing our union, as it can’t be a part of the actual wedding as the wedding will have human guests too.

Atlas told me there are many humans who are aware of their existence but because of the hunters, they prefer keeping their identity a secret because no one wants to put their families at risk.

Atlas is planning to tell his truth to my family because he doesn’t want to hide anything from them. Knowing my crazy family I know his true identity will not change anything and they will treat him in the same way they treat him as now. Moreover, I think after their initial shock will be over, they will be thrilled to have a vampire to be a part of our family.

After parking my car in the parking, I walk to the front of the King Motors building. Heading to the reception, I smile at the receptionist when she greets me.

“Is Atlas inside the office?” I point in the direction of his office room.

“Yes, ma’am.” She nods her head, “Do you want me to inform sir of your arrival?” She moves her hand to pick up the receiver but I stop her.

“No, I will just surprise him.” Shaking my head, I smile as I head towards his office.

However, before I can even lift my hand to open the door, he opens the door with a smirk settled on his lips.

“Surprise.” He arches an eyebrow smugly, causing me to roll my eyes.

He always knows when I am around, so I don’t think I can ever surprise him. And the day I will surprise him will be one of the best days of my life.

“I missed you.” He grabs me in his arms after closing the door, “As soon as we will get over with this wedding then we will go somewhere, where no one will disturb us for a while... where it will be just you and me.” Lifting my face, he gently pecks my lips.

“I think I would love that.” A content sigh leaves my lips enjoying the feeling of being in his embrace as I deeply inhale his comforting smell.

The mark on my neck itches causing me to frown. Moving away from him, I slightly pull down the collar of my shirt and scratch it.

“I don’t know why it is itching so much since morning.” I make a face, while I continue to scratch it, "I think maybe I am having some kind of allergic reaction."

“Let me see.” He holds my hand, moves it away from my neck.

“It looks fine.” He lightly runs his finger over it, and involuntarily a shiver runs down my spine which makes him smile.

Leaning his head, he kisses my mark almost making my knees weak causing me to hold his arms to keep myself steady.

“Since the past few days, sometimes I feel a burning sensation in my mark, just like I have felt when it appeared for the first time.” He speaks while he continues to trace my mark with his finger soothing the irritation which I am feeling. “Maybe that’s why now even you have started to feel its effect.”

"Why were you feeling a burning sensation?" I glance at his questioningly.

“I don’t know, I haven’t heard anything about this before,” He speaks looking clueless, “But I will try to find something or someone who might know anything about this.” He looks like he is in deep thoughts, mentally trying to find about this.

Winding my arms around his torso, I keep my ear over his heart and listen to my most favorite sound in the world, his heartbeat while he remains lost in his thoughts.
