Her Home

Chapter 18 — Wedding Day

Rebecca looked at the dress that was too tight the last time she had tried it on. She had been so busy with all the last-minute details for the wedding and getting some problems with the clinic fixed, that she hadn't gotten another chance to try it on after the last alterations. She took a deep breath and hoped that it fit.

"Mi Amore?" She heard Vincent calling out to her as he walked into their bedroom. She looked at him through the mirror when he entered the bathroom. "Are you nearly ready? We need to leave for the house. Dom has been calling me all morning and I'm sure Ros is waiting for you," he walked closer to her kissing her bare shoulder. She sent him a smile before grabbing her toothbrush.

"She wasn't happy that I didn't stay all night with them all at the hotel," she began to brush her teeth.

"I know. I'm sorry. I just hated thinking of you being all the way across town. If something happened, I wouldn't be able to get to you fast enough." He wrapped his arms around her waist. Rebecca spit into the sink.

"I know," She tuned in his arms and kissed his cheek. "I appreciate you keeping the three of us safe. I love you for it even more," she wiggled to let him know she wanted him to release her. She grabbed the pair of sweatpants, belonging to Vincent, that sat on the counter and pulled them on followed by one of his white t-shirts. She had yet to go get anything super comfy that fit her so his side of the closet had become her favorite place to choose from. Vincent was far from complaining though. He loved to see her in his clothes..

"Ready?" He asked her when he had shaken the dirty thoughts from his mind. She nodded pointing at her dress. "I will grab it. Anything else?"

"No. Just the dress," she said and walked out of the bathroom with Vincent on her heels. He grabbed the garment bag with his tux in it on his way out of the bedroom. Vincent watched Rebecca from the corner of his eye through the whole drive. She had been quiet lately and he hoped she wasn't rethinking things with him. He had made up his mind that he would do everything in his power to make sure she knew just how much she meant to him.

"Are you feeling okay?" She turned from looking out the window and sent him the smile that he had fallen in love with.

"Of course. One of my best friends is getting married today. I really never thought Ros would ever settle down." She laughed a little before sighing. Vincent turned his head to look at her before turning back to the road. "She used to tell me that she wouldn't get married until she had a full career and it was time to have a kid before she was too old," she rubbed her stomach then looked at Vincent. He felt her eyes on him and turned grabbing her hand lacing their fingers together. "It's funny how plans change."

"How have your plans changed?" He asked her. He was curious to know what her plans had been and if he was the cause of the changes. If he was, is she okay with that?" He saw her shrug. Her hand moved toward her mouth but he stopped her. "Ros will be mad if your nails are ruined." She nodded.

"I didn't plan on opening the clinic so early but I am so glad that it will be open now before the babies are here." Vincent looked at her again with a smile as she rubbed her stomach that held his children. He had found a lot of things that made his happy since meeting Rebecca but her becoming the mother of his children was at the top of the list.

"What else?" he asked. Rebecca opened her mouth to answer him before she realized they were pulling into the driveway. She sat up straighter.

"Talk later?" She turned to him as he stopped in front if the building to drop her off. The men were getting ready in another smaller building on the property. With Rebecca being pregnant and having met the women in the wedding party, he had insisted that the women take the rooms in the chapel.

Vincent got out of the car and ran around to Rebecca's side. He opened the door before offering his hand and helping her step out. She kissed him on his lips and he pulled her to him when she pulled away too quickly. He deepened the kiss and heard her moan into his mouth. She felt him smirk so she pulled away. "I love you," he whispered with a smile.

"I love you too," she blushed. "I better get in there though," she pointed to the building behind him. He sighed and nodded. He took her hands and kissed them both before kissing her again quickly on the lips. "You better get in there before I drag you back home and don't let you out again," he said causing her to laugh. "I hate being away from you all for too long," he added. She cupped his face.

"I will see you soon. And we are on the same piece of land. If you must you can come and make sure that I am okay," she gave him a reassuring smile and kissed him again. He rubbed his hand over her stomach bending down he sent her a wink and leaned into her.

"Be good for mommy today you two." Rebecca laughed and shook her head. "Bye Mommy," he kissed her again and got back into his car. Rebecca watched him drive away before turning and heading into the chapel.

"Finally, you're here!" Joni shouted and threw her arm across her forehead when Rebecca walked into the room, they all were getting ready in. Rebecca rolled her eyes at Joni's dramatics. "She's starting to freak," she whispered. "Yes. I am here," she turned to look at Rosalina who was sitting and getting her hair curled in big ringlets. "What do you need me to do bride?" She beamed at her. Rosalina bit her lip and her left leg was bouncing. "Nervous?" She watched her friends head nod as much as she could with a curling iron in her hand. "Don't be. Dom is crazy about you. He would do anything for you."

"I know but," Rosalina sighed and looked at Rebecca through the mirror. "I don't know. I guess I just never thought I was the marrying type really. What if I am a horrible wife?" Rebecca moved around in front of her.

"You will be amazing. It's not like you were cooking and cleaning for him before him. You have never let him think that you're something you're not," Rebecca put both hands on her shoulders. "You are your best you and that is who Dom fell in love with, okay?" She told her firmly. Rosalina smiled and nodded.

"Thank you, Becs." Rebecca wiped her tears that began to fall down her face.

"Good thing your makeup isn't done yet," she laughed. Rosalina laughed too. Joni bounced over to them.

"Are we good now? Can we get ready so we can get you married?" All three girls laughed. "How are my babies?" Joni rubbed Rebecca's stomach.

"Giving their mother hell," she sighed as she walked to an empty chair. She smiled at the makeup artist that was standing by the table in front of her. "I'm ready." The artist nodded and got to work.

"Has there been any more marriage talk?" Joni asked as she sat in the chair Rosalina had just been in. Rebecca watched Rosalina walk to the table with fruit and champagne on it.

"Slow down, Ros," she said as she watched her friend down one glass and get another.

"She's already had three," Joni sighed. "Dom loves you but I am guessing her will want you to be somewhat sober today," she turned to look at Rosalina who nodded her head.

"Just this one then I will relax," she told them. Rebecca nodded before sitting still so her makeup could get finished.

"Are you going to answer Joni's question?" Marisa asked and made the three women jump. Rebecca put a hand over her heart looking at the girl through the mirror. She narrowed her eyes at her when she saw a little smirk. She really didn't like her.

"I forgot you were here," Joni took a breath. "Make some noise if you are just going to sit there and not talk." Rosalina laughed as she walked to sit beside her cousin.

"Anyway," Joni said and waved the hair stylist off so she could turn to look at Rebecca. "Has he brought up what he said?" Rebecca waved off the makeup artist with an apologetic look and turned to Joni. "No," she turned back in her chair motioning for the girl to come back and finish.

"No?" Joni squealed. Rebecca sighed.

"Yes. No, he hasn't brought it up. It's almost like it never happened." She could feel Joni still looking at her. She knew she could read her which meant she knew there was more that Rebecca wanted to say. But she didn't want to hear what Joni would say and it was Rosalina's day. "What more do you want me to say?" Joni sighed flopping back in the chair.

No one brought up the marriage talk about her and Vincent again and they finished getting ready before heading outside to get some pictures taken. Rebecca loved Rosalina's dress even if it wasn't something she would ever dare wearing. It was skin tight, low cut, backless, and appeared to be see through. The dress shouted Rosalina. Her black hair that was in ringlets when Rebecca had arrived, had been brushed out so that it was slightly wavy. She wore very little makeup like normal. Domenico had told her he liked that better because her dark brown eyes didn't need anything to look amazing so, she wanted to make it happy.

"Five minutes," Rebecca smiled at her friends as she took deep breaths. "You got this. All you have to do is walk down the aisle straight to Dom. Nothing to it." Rosalina nodded her head in understanding. "Ready?" Joni asked walking up with Marisa.

"Calm down. It's not that serious," Marisa rolled her eyes. Rebecca and Joni's head whipped toward the girl both with glares.

"It's fine," Rosalina said through clenched teeth.

"Oh my," they heard a woman sigh from behind them turning they saw Rosalina's mother there in her wheelchair.

"Momma," Rosalina smiled running to her to hug tight. Mrs. Busto had been in the car when Rosalina's father had crashed it. He died instantly but her mother has survived suffering paralysis from the waist down. Rosalina had been fifteen and learned to care for her mother. It was when the doctors told them there was nothing more, they could do to fix her that Rosalina decided she would become a doctor. She thought everyone should get more hope than they were given. She had agreed to work in Rebecca's clinic for the same reason.

"I'm so proud of you, Lina." Her mother smiled up at her. "You look so beautiful."

"Ros, it's time," Rebecca said when she saw Vincent wave from the door. The men were there and it was time to walk down the aisle. It was Rebecca's turn to be nervous now. She knew it was stupid. It wasn't her wedding but the thought of Vincent being at the end of the aisle when she got there made her think about their future. She wanted to marry him and she would tell him tonight.

She followed everyone into the chapel making her way to the front to wait for the music. When it started, she walked down the aisle and didn't miss the smile and quick wink that Vincent sent her way. She felt herself blush and looked down to the ground. She took her place and moved her eyes from Vincent to Joni who stood beside her when she made it to the end of the aisle.

The priest told everyone to rise and they turned to see Rosalina walking beside her mother who was wheeling herself down the aisle. Rosalina was looking directly at Domenico both had the biggest smiles on their faces. Rebecca chanced a peek at Vincent and he was already looking at her. He smiled wide at her. She bit her lip and forced herself to look at her friend who was now standing in front of the man that would become her husband.

The ceremony was beautiful. Rebecca tried her hardest not to ugly cry through it and to avoid looking at Vincent whose eyes she could feel on her the whole time. At the reception she danced with the girls, Vincent and Domenico. As she sat down after her toast that was both heartfelt and funny, Vincent wrapped an arm around her shoulder pulling her close to him. "You look so beautiful today," he whispered as he kissed the top of her head and rubbed her bump with the other hand. She turned her head to give him a smile. "One more dance before we head home?" He asked her. She nodded and stood up with him. They walked to the dance floor where he spun her around before wrapping her in his arms. "I think that we should start having date nights once a week," he told her as they swayed to the soft music. She pulled back so she could look into his eyes.

"That sounds great. After the babies come, we are going to be pretty busy," she laid her head on his chest.

"Do you know how much I love you?" She lifted her head with a smile on her face. She kissed his cheek then put her head back on his chest.

"I do," she sighed, "nearly as much as I love you." Vincent chuckled. "I know you didn't actually ask me but if you did," she paused realizing that what she was about to say, while the truth, was scary and would change things. She felt Vincent stop moving. He was slightly stiff.

"Rebecca?" She looked up at him with a smile.

"I would say yes," she whispered so no one but him could hear which he barely did. But he wasn't about to ask her to confirm what she said so he started dancing her again.

"Date night the day after tomorrow." Rebecca bit her lip she had placed her head on his chest again so he couldn't see the smile she was trying to hold back. She was excited to see what date night would hold for them.
