Chapter 207
Cupter 207
Luty wovether hand in refusal. "Really, it's nothing. It's just my stomach bothering me.*
Perhaps because she had to visit the hospital every day, she felt an inexplicable aversion to the place. The cold, sterile equipment and sharp scent of disinfectant always made it hard to breathe. "You're so y
You're so young. How could you have stomach problems?" Edith stepped forward, taking her hand and giving Xavier a stem look, "You go start the car Karier, able to argue, turned and headed toward the door.
Like quickly thought of something "Grandma, I'm on my period right no.."
She had been taking contraceptive pills, so she was sure she couldn't possibly be pregnant. She instinctively lied to Edith.
But as soon as the wonds left her mouth, she realized that her period was more than ten days late. With everything going on recently, she had forgotten
about IL
"Ah?" Edith looked disappointed, releasing her hand but still telling Xavier, "If her stomach's not feeling right, take her to see a doctor as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the worse it'll get." "Alright. I'll make sure she sees a doctor when I can," Xavier replied.
His sharp, observant pace Engered on Lily. He clearly remembered her period was over by now
"Emma, make some stew or something. Let's have bunch here today."
With that, Edith gently pulled Lily back to the sofa to sit.
Emma nodded, walking toward the dining room and opening the fridge in a familiar motion. But when she opened it, she found it completely empty
Not only were there no ingredients, but even the "Trozen fruit" Lily had just mentioned was missing. She opened the freezer, only to find some frozen. foods that clearly didn't belong there.
"Emma"Xavier entered the dining room and softly explained, "The company's been busy these past couple of days, so I've rarely been home. Mrs. Fulton was at her parents' house, so we didn't prepare any ingredients."
The explanation made sense, but if Emma hadn't known about Lily's strained relationship with her family, she might have believed it.
Even though she wasn't fully convinced, Emma couldn't call Xavier out on the spot.
"I see. By the way, I have some vegetables for the Fulton Manor in the car. Ill go get them," Emma said.
Xavier nodded. "Thank you, it's much appreciated."
Emma smiled and walked out. "Mr. Fulton, you're too polite. It's nothing!*
In the living room, Edith and Lily were sipping Jasmine tea and chatting, unaware of Emma fetching the ingredients from the car.
"Lily, how's your brother been doing lately?" Edith asked
"He's undergoing treatment. Lily stared at the pale Jasmine tea in her cup. Her heart dropped at the mention of Hayden.
Edith's expression softened in sympathy. "Medical technology is so advanced now; he'll get better. Which hospital is heat? Is there a well-known doctor?
"If you face any difficulties, don't hesitate to come to us. Whether it's manpower or financial support that you need, just let us know, okay?" With the Fulton family's resources, they could hire the best doctors in the world for Hayden's treatment. They could also easily cover the expensive medical bills. But even if Lily and Xavier weren't getting divorced, she wasn't sure if he would help her.
"He's at Jadeford Hospital, under Dr. Blackwood, who studied abroad. His reputation isn't huge, but he's quite capable".
"Rowan?" Edith sounded surprised. "When did he come back?"
Lilypeused before instinctively saying, "I think he just came back recently. Grandma, do you know him?"
Edith smiled warmly. "Of course, I know him. I watched that boy grow up. I wonder if he'll come visit me
From her tone, it was clear Edith was very familler with Rowan. That meant Xavier had to know him well too.
Lily thought back to the night when Hayden had tried to commit suicide. Xavire made a call, and Rowan came out of the emergency room to help arrange
her visit.
Later, Rowan had subtly asked about her relationship with Xavier.
At the time, she had been too focused on Hayden to think much of it. But now, an inexplicable heaviness settled in her chest.
Their familiarity had nothing to do with her. It never had, and it never would.
"Xavier." Edith waved her hand, calling Xavier over. "Why didn't you tell me that Rowan's back?"
