(Book 5)- Chapter 65
Thaddeus
Trinity swayed, her long hind legs fell backwards, all while the tree branch used it’s branches to mold to her body. I shifted back into human form while the branches gently put her to the ground. Her head fell to the side, her body cracking and putting her in her human state.
Breathing deeply, I kept her there on the forest floor; the light hovering around her body.
“That’s crazy,” Theon spoke while his hand rubbed Trinity’s face. Theon had a few scratches from the scuffle before we headed into the woods. The poisoned claws did their job. It slowed our healing abilities, not by much, but having them finally heal and close on their own was a b***h.
The light faded around Trinity’s body. Theon picked up Trinity while I went to pick up the remaining parts of the Kitsune. He was down to just hunks of meat. I had little to carry, but I had to carry the bloodied pieces back to the pack house. I wasn’t sure if Kitsunes could be ultimately killed just be a good mauling and I would not give it any chances regenerate.
Once we arrived, Trinity had fallen asleep in Theon’s arms. Theon and I took large breaths in and heaved them out heavily. Both looking at each other, we laughed at each other. “Who the hell knew it would all end up like this?” I put my arm around my brother’s shoulder.” The past six or seven months had been hard. For the first time in our lives were without our family, friends and then stuck in a damn dog pound for a good portion of it.
We get rescued by our mate only to find out she’s being chased and it all came around a full circle with a bunch of supernaturals nipping at her heels. She’s been through some s**t.
“Yeah, she has,” Theon said out loud.
“Quit diggin’ in my head, man.” I wanted to push him but the thought of Trinity waking up had me hold back.
The b***d parts of the Kitsune stank. Mind-linking Mia, she ran over as quickly as she could. “Burn it,” she panted. “Just like vampires, rip them apart and throw it in the fire.” The enormous bonfire in the middle of the courtyard, which used to be nothing but logs and sticks, was now full of bodies. The fire is no longer yellow and orange but blue, purple and green. Souls of the dead would seep down into the Earth for Hades to deal with. Stupid mother fuckers.
Landon walked forward, covered in b***d. There didn’t seem to be any scratches on him, just dried b***d and a few bruises. “Alpha, request to go see my mate,” his voice was low, carried with heavy sorrow. My hand gripped his shoulder.
“Of course, go to her hell, make it official.” Landon’s lips ticked, trying not to smile.
“Slow and steady, Alpha. Slow and steady.” Landon backed away, walking up the pack house steps.
“This is so gross,” mom whined. Her feet were bare and was trying to tiptoe over the streams of b***d. “There wasn’t this much the last time we battled, was there? Or did I block that memory out?” Her eyes looked up to dad, a smile in greeting her.
“No, Love people could heal, no one could heal with the poison.” Dad swept in and picked up mom who cuddled into his chest.
“Should have thought of this,” she giggled. “You boys alright? Did you get him?”
“Obviously.” I rolled my eyes. Dad’s growl had me backing up slightly, but it was mom’s stare that had me really begging for mercy. “I’m sorry, yes mom.”
“I don’t care if we all have been fighting. You still watch your mouth,” she snapped. “Same for you,” she pointed to dad.
“I did nothing,” he pleaded with her. “I’ve been good,” dad pouted. Oh, s**t, here we go.
“You have,” mom wiped away b***d dripping down his forehead.
“Enough for?” he mumbled. “Tea time?” Mom burst into a fit of laughter while the rest of us g*****d. Mia began gagging, and Theon and I walked away. Guess it had been over four hours since they found a closet.
“I need numbers,” I yelled out to Marco, who was writing on a pad of paper. He licked his fingers, flipping through the pages.
“We only lost five.” Marco rolled his lips, giving a smack. “They were mateless, living until their children were old enough so no children were left behind. The b***d bags healed everyone at an alarming rate. Stacy said she only had to use a half a bag, and the bodies regenerated enough to make more of it. We were lucky, real lucky.”
Whether it be one, ten or a hundred, it was too many to lose. Considering the circumstances, we were lucky to not be more. They would be given a proper funeral and their family lines decorated as heroes in Bergarian since the threat would spread back there, eventually. It was a high honor.
Bohdi was laying in Spencer’s arms, the large tattoo on his back held her coven symbol and her initials. The thing was damn huge, but I was more impressed with the double marking Spencer gave her. He will be one possessive wolf with that.
“Alphas, Spencer bowed his head, Bodhi in his arms. “My mate is still weak. I don’t think she can open the portal to let the others home.”
“That’s alright,” looking back at Theon. “I think it would be best to clean up before the kids come back. You did well. Thanks for waking up. How do you feel?” Spencer shook his head, his eyes lingering at the glowing fire.
“Like my body is a raging bolt of electricity. I don’t know if I want to explode with rage or nuzzle into my mate. I feel guilty. My mate was fighting alone while I slept. Then when I woke up, I couldn’t get out of the room because she put a damn barrier around it.” His eyes flickered from his wolf’s back and forth. “But then her magic came to me. I could get out and protect her.” His head went into her neck. “To answer your question, I’ll be okay,” he chuckled.
….
The rest of the night was spent cleaning up the bodies. Any bodies in the house that needed to be thrown into the fire were dealt with. Hoses were brought into the pack house, spraying down every surface with water and bleach as it dripped down the stairs to the ground outside. B***d bags, tubes, needs were all discarded in biohazard bags.
The night went on. We helped supervise and also helped clean, trading Trinity off back and forth doing so. Theon and I had a long way to go sharing her. As much as I wanted a fairy tale ending, we both were possessive alphas and brothers. We are going to fight because we are close and more now than ever when we share a mate.
Mom has seen twin mates together. She said it was hard for them and in no way easy. Especially on the inside of the relationship. The new roles we play with Trinity will help her give us the attention we both need.
“Thaddeus?” Trinity stirred in my arms. I had a blanket covering us, sitting on the only clean surface of the entire area. A small bench at the edge of the woods. The stars finally came from behind the clouds. The smell was deteriorating and my mate was feeling more rested.
“Yes, mate?” I sat her up, sitting on my lap, being sure to keep her covered. Small strands of dark purple and blue highlighted underneath her red hair. Her Lycan, as we now call it, was beautiful. I swore I could see sparkles falling away from her fur as she ran through the forest with us. The moon hitting her hair caused the white of her teeth shine with fury as we hunted down the unscented fox.
“Do I need to go help?” Trying to get away, I gripped her tightly.
“No, you are staying here.” I cradled her back to my chest while she let out a yawn. “I’m just so tired, but everyone is,” she mumbled. Trinity’s back stiffened.
“Where is mom? Dad? Your parents? Your family?” Words fell from her pretty mouth. My finger touched them to silence her.
“Everyone is alright, and it looks like your mom is coming over.” Trinity stood, keeping the blanket wrapped around her delectable body.
“Mom?” she whined, running towards her. Her mom looked like an exact copy of Trinity. Firey red hair, unblemished skin, but now she was sporting pointed ears and a wrinkle free face. Evangeline cupped her daughter’s face.
“I’m so proud of you,” she cried. “I never would have dreamed.” Choking, Folen came up behind her, rubbing her arms together. Trinity glanced Folen up and down again.
“You don’t have to call me dad,” Folen began.
“But I want to,” Trinity interrupted. Folen’s eyes fogged over, pulling Trinity and her mom into an enormous hug. They all cried while I stood by and watched. You know, being the awkward one.
Speaking of awkward.
“Would you look at that?” Solen stood beside me, hands on his h**s. “That is a good family moment, you should take a picture.” Rolling my eyes, I turned to him.
“Sure, I’ll pull them out of my pocket.” Looking down, I pretend to be shocked beause I was still naked. “Whoops, guess I can’t,” I shrugged my shoulders, not paying attention to him.
“That’s alright, I brought one,” a bright flash escaped the phone. He held it out to show me the picture, but all it was a picture of himself staring at it like an i***t. “Whoops, forgot to turn it around,” he muttered before I stomped away from him.
Vampires.
“Daddy!” I heard a little girl yell. She weaved through wolves still cleaning and jumped in the arms of Alpha Scott. Great, who let him out? Dad walked behind him, scowling and not saying a word. His hands in fists staying close to Scott.
Naomi jumped in his arms while his nose nuzzled into her neck. “My little baby,” he cried. His wife walked up behind him, putting his hand on his shoulder. Scott pulled her not the hug, all three sitting on the ground together.
“Alpha Scott,” dad spoke loud for all to hear. “I’m stripping you of your title as Alpha of your sloth. You are now an ordinary sloth member. Your crimes were that of treason, taking your pack into an area known to have the enemy and was at risk. For such crimes, your penalty is death.” Alpha’s Scotts’ mate cried out in agony. Naomi cried while the other bears watched, not sure what to do. Many had blank faces, others of sorrow.
“Unless,” dad spoke again. “You have someone that would vouch for you. Meaning someone to take responsibility for your actions. It cannot be your mate.” The sloth of bears all looked at each other, stepping backward. They had given up on their previous alpha. Who could blame them? He led them straight into the wolf’s den. Ha.
As everyone sat silent, Alpha Big Paw stepped forward. “I will take responsibility.” Seth’s eyes narrowed.
“How do you plan to do that? He doesn’t live with in your pack.”
“He will become one of ours,” Alpha Big Paw came over to Scott. “He will work as we do, play as we do and, most importantly, learn how to protect like we do. His mate and child will be welcome here. We see no problem with interspecies living.”
Dad crossed his arms, looking at Alpha Big Paw in the eye. “Very well, but if he steps out of line once, I am to be informed.” Scott gave an enormous hug to Big Paw, eternally grateful for saving his life.
“We have one more matter of business,” dad announced again. Josiah was slung into the dirt, face eating the dried b***d. Spitting it out, he rose to his feet, scowling at anyone who dared looked him in the eye. Trinity came to my side, holding my hand.
“Josiah, you helped lead the team of rogues to the border and inside the pack territory, willing working with the Kitsune. Your punishment will also be death, unless someone can vouch for you.” The crickets of the night sung a tune, pleading eyes looking to his fellow sloth members. His eyes roamed the area until he met Trinity.
“Trinity!” He smiled. “Trinity will vouch for me.” My mate scoffed, wrapping the blanket tighter. “Come on, we had a thing going.”
“What thing?” she whispered exasperatedly. Clearing her throat, she stood up straight, tucking the ends of the blanket around her body. Her h**s swayed, her bare feet lighting up the ground.
“I’ll tell you what,” she clicked her tongue. “I’ll vouch for you, if you can hit me.” Stepping forward, Theon pulled me back.
“Seriously dude, she’s gonna kick his a*s. Just watch.” Huffing, I stepped back, still ready to jump in if necessary. Josiah’s crooked smirk had Damian on the line. She just f*****g woke up, and she was over here getting in another fight.
Before Josiah could lift a paw, Trinity had the roots on the ground of the nearby oak tree trip him to the ground. Her hand went up and with one large swipe, she slashed it right across his face. One foot stood on his back, her hand gripped into his hair, pulling his dirty face from the soil.
“Did I win?” she sultry said. Josiah g*****d, falling into the dirt.
“Damn,” Theon and I both a loud.
“Trinity!” Evangeline gasped loudly, her hands over her mouth. Trinity slung her hand, letting the extra b***d fall from her fingertips. Laughing nervously, she wiped the remaining b***d on the blanket. Folen, on the other hand, was beaming. He stood up straighter, beaming with pride. He left his mate completely stunned, still holding her hands to her face.
Folen stood inches from Trinity, grinning. They both slung their arms around each other. My mate laughed widely, looking at the both of us. Mouthing an “I love you,” at us, she buried her head in his shoulder.
“My daughter, you are my daughter. I am so proud of you, you’ve become so strong,” Folen’s voice cracked, petting his daughter’s hair. “I never thought I would see the day.”
“Me either,” Evangeline stepped forward, making sure not to look at the mess her innocent daughter made.
“Something about those red-heads,” Theon smirked at me, looking on adoringly.
“Yeah, something about ‘em.” I crossed my arms, watching my mate, finally being the happiest I’ve ever seen her.
