(Book 3)- Chapter 51
Willa’s POV
I had definitely learned my lesson, no more keeping things from Orion, and if he is in one of his “possessive moods,” go to Annan. Good to know.
After waking up from that thundering session and taking a walk of shame in a blanket covering my naked body down the hall we all had to sit down and form a plan, just because I had Violet out there listening to the crazy lady’s plans didn’t mean she was safe and we weren’t out of the woods yet.
Annan had been working at Orion’s desk all afternoon while we were away. Several important events had transpired in just two hours. Annan even scolded Orion for being so neglectful of his duties, even though it was the first time in his life that he had ever done so. “Don’t make it a habit,” Annan playfully laughed as he rose from his seat.
“The dragon shifters of the North are seeing some strange sightings, bursts of light and even people covered in cloaks only to vanish into thin air. These sightings are getting closer to the small tribes in the mountains full of the women and children up there.”
The dragon shifters were an old and dying breed. They were having trouble finding full blooded dragon mates, mainly women. A full-blooded female dragon was pretty much extinct except for a few that were already mated and even then they were only giving birth to males. When the dragons did find a female mate from another race, once they gave birth, they wouldn’t inherit the dragon b***d and become whatever their mother was previously. Seers, healers and shamans didn’t know what to do, they were at a loss and dragons continued to pray to the gods that something would change quickly or they would slowly die off one by one through battle if that was ever to occur.
Even these dragon shifters have power besides their strength. Instead of breathing fire, they could breathe ice or use nature around them to fend off enemies. Now they were being threatened by witches and warlocks from what Annan had gathered. Dragon b***d can enhance witches their own power, but the only way to get a dragon to give their b***d is willingly or by death. With the fate of the women and children, they are now put at risk since they were weaker and causing some furious domineering dragons. With our peace treaty with The Moon Kingdom, we will have to go to war with the magical entities threatening them.
We would win a battle, no doubt about it, but the lost lives are something no one wants on the winning side. However, things might be inevitable.
“How is Violet supposed to contact you?” Fionn spoke up. I scratched the back of my head not really wanting to answer.
“It never really came up,” I shrugged my shoulders and Annana threw his hands in the air. “Honestly, it was a quick message sent to her by Eudora the morning after Orion and I,… did some things to make him super possessive.” I blushed remembering that night. I’m going to always blush thinking about the dirty things we do, it is just going to happen.
“How did you even tell Eudora, I didn’t even see her? I was right there with you the entire time.” Orion rubbed my shoulders. Rolling my eyes, “she fell asleep in the linen closet, and once we started to, ‘ahem,’ she knew she couldn’t leave and disturb us, so she slept there, while I was doing some lady business she came out, and I told her what to do.”
“This is getting ridiculous, not a moment of peace around here,” Orion sat down and pulled me to his lap. “What will we do now? We have no way to contact Violet, or we will cause a scene and give her away.”
“Violet will find away,” I looked to Alexo. “She’s smart, trust me.” There was a rapping at the window as a sprite was trying to get our attention; with him was a note clutched in his hand that was several times his size. The window was opened as he panted harshly, and Brenden brought him to the table in his large hands.
“Please don’t make me do that again!” he pleaded. “That wolf is nuts; she wrote her life story on this thing. I’m not made to be a messenger; the fairies are!” The sprite pushed the note away while he climbed to the glass of water on the table and started drinking straight from the glass. He was an odd sprite, he had black accents on his body. The sprites I had seen were bright and colorful. This one had wings that were pitch black along with this clothing.
His hair was also dark, along with one side of his head shaved and long on the other, giving him a classic ‘emo’ look I remembered from Earth. I gave a little snort and covered my mouth instantly. Of course, Violet would have picked this pixie, and it’s so her humor.
“A dark pixie, I haven’t seen one in years,” Orion whispered. “They live in Vamparia, where it is darker and help handle the plants that don’t need as much sunlight.”
“That’s right and now I’m a bloody messenger!” The pixie wiped his mouth off with his arm and stood in front of us. “Are you princess, queen-of-what-ever kingdom Willa?” The pixie’s hands kept waving about in a wild manner, and Orion narrowed his eyes. “She is Queen Willa of the Light Kingdom; show some respect.”
“Sorry, sorry,” he pushed the letter to me, and I picked it up, all that was on the envelope was the letter, ‘W.’ “I’m Flix, nice to meet you.” I nodded my head while Orion spoke for the both of us, “thank you Flix.”
Opening it up, I exclaimed, “it’s from Violet!” Alexo jumped from his chair to come read the letter. I stood up straight so everyone could hear.
“W,
I’m sorry I haven’t written sooner. It’s hard to get away. I am currently on the outskirts of Vampira in the B***d Coven with the head sorceress, Prinna, along with Sibille. Your hunch was right, and she purposefully got rid of Onyx to take the power for herself.
This coven specifically uses dark magic and have found a Soul Unbinding Book. Sibille plans to unbind you from Orion and will be using me to retrieve you the day before the ceremony. Getting here is a problem. We will have to make a plan to get Orion’s soldiers inside. It is cloaked in several cloaking spells, and only certain people are allowed in through the magic. I’ll send word the more I know.
V
PS. Please tell A, I love him and I will be home soon and “I will see you in my dreams.”
Alexo was beside himself, his eyes were glassy as he held onto the table. “I can’t lose her, Willa,” his eyes were pleading, begging me to bring her home, but we were so close. If we could find out exactly where this coven was we could be rid of it and our problems along with the dragon shifters would be solved without bloodshed.
My shaky breath went unheard as Orion took a nearby vase and threw it to the floor, several books were hit off the bookshelf, and little trinkets smashed to pieces. Orion’s breathing was ragged as his back was to us, heaving up and down and his wings protruded from his back. This time they weren’t outlined in small black lines at the tip of his wings, rather the entire wing and the small intricate designs had turned black.
I didn’t know if I should go comfort him or step back, I had never seen anything like it. Annan and the boys started to step back from him and looked at me to do the same. My heart only wanted to comfort him, and since it hadn’t steered me wrong yet, I stepped forward, one tiny step at a time. He was still throwing, growling and hitting the walls with his bare fists. Sweat dripped down his body as his tunic became untied in the front as his chest started to show.
Gently touching his forearm he turned his head to me, his eyes were black while the outer rim of his eyes were red. A creature I had never seen before looked back at me. This wasn’t my Orion, and it was someone else.
“Honey,” I cooed at him, his breathing hitched and started to slow down. The tension in his body started to slowly dwindle as I felt his anger and frustration through the bond we shared. Turning to Annan and the rest of the men in the room, “I think we are done for today. Let’s reconvene tomorrow morning. Flix, a servant, will show you to your quarters until we can write a return note. Flix didn’t say a word, and his trembling wings were enough to tell me what he was thinking.
Everyone was leaving the room and Orion’s eyes were still pinned on the side of my head. Another one of my hands easily snaked around his arm as I pulled him to sit down in his oversized desk chair.
Grabbing a cloth from the drink cart I dipped it in some cold water and wrung out the excess. Orion’s eyes were still pinned on me like I was going to disappear at any moment. Walking back, he kept his eyes glued on mine as a small smile came on my face. This was my job, to keep the King of the Faes calm. Sitting in his lap I gently put the ice-cold towel to his forehead. He was burning up; his fingertips grazed my h**s through the jeans I decided to wear today. Lifting a bit of my shirt, so his hands were directly on my skin, I sighed at how he felt. I’m supposed to comfort him, and here he was, helping me.
“Honey, tell me what happened?” I cooed at him while I cooled his neck and chest. Letting out a shaky breath he gripped my h**s a little tighter, and his forehead went to mine.
“No one can take you from me, Willa. I can’t let that happen.” Orion’s eyes closed as he spoke to me. I felt every word roll out of his mouth and into my ears. He was scared he would lose me, heck I was scared I would lose him, but we were one step ahead of Sibille.
“We know what is going on, we have a spy in place we are ahead of the game.” I touched his face with my palm, and he immediately kissed it. “We will get rid of her and if you want to draw her out I may have an idea.” Orion gave a small smirk.
“You really are starting to become a cunning little fae, aren’t you?” I pecked his lips and kissed him again, only letting it linger.
“I only learn from the best,” I kissed his neck as he relaxed instantly. “Now, about the dragons, Alonso is down for at least two weeks, so he can’t help Alpha Seth.” Orion rubbed his eyes and pulled me into his chest.
“I’ll send my best trackers, now they can fly they will be able to reach the dragon’s territory faster than Alonso and his friends anyway. I may need to go meet with the chief there.” I nodded in understanding.
“When would we leave?” I asked quietly.
“I will leave as soon as possible. You will stay here.” I threw my arms around my body as I pushed away.
“Listen here, King Orion, I will come with you. You are basically asking someone to kidnap me while you are away. Do you ever read romance novels?” I arched my brow while I scowled at him. Taking a big sigh, he bit down on his bottom l*p.
“Do you know how sexy you look when you are angry?” His hands removed my arms as he palmed my breasts.
“Changing the subject won’t help. I’m coming at that is final.” Orion nodded at once as he kissed the upper part of my chest.
“I don’t think I can handle one other thing right now. Sibille, the dragons, the witches the coronation and binding ceremony that has to still be planned. I feel like this entire month has been rushed and wooing. You never really happened did it?” Orion’s sad puppy face made me giggle.
“Honestly, this is the most exciting thing that has ever happened; I don’t really mind it. Let’s pray to the gods nothing else is thrown on our plate right now.” Orion chuckled and pulled me close, letting me smell his strong forest scent.
One of the servants walked in the open door and bowed. “Your majesties, I have come to inform you that King Orion’s parents have just arrived by carriage.”
Fudge.
