(Book 3)- Chapter 48
Sibille’s POV
I had was curled up on the terrible smell of the cot below me. It smelled of mold and death as I tried to hold my breath from the stench. A plan was forming in my head as Violet was sleeping a few cells away, but first, I had to get out of here and act as sweet as I could be was the only way they would let me go.
“Sibille,” he nodded as he opened the door. Suddenly, there was a click on the door, and my head immediately jerked up to see none other than Annan. The loud squeal it made would be ingrained in my mind throughout my life. I would make sure Annan would suffer once I was queen.
“After much deliberation, we decided to set you free. Just know this, Sibille,” Annan stood above me as I sat with my perfect posture, “we will be watching you closely.” I nodded enthusiastically.
“Of course, for the safety of Orion and the kingdom!”
“And the future Queen, Willa, correct?” His eyebrow raised to test me. I smiled at him again as I bit my cheek.
“Absolutely! Once mated, they will make an excellent pair.” Annan nodded and opened the door.
“They are already mated. It’s a done deal,” Annan walked me down the corridor, and I glanced back at Violet, who nodded a few times and slipped back into the darkness of her cell.
They were already mated s**t; that will put a damper on my plans. I wanted to growl, throw or hit something, but I wasn’t out of the woods yet. There are ways around a bond, but it won’t be easy to find someone. The last witch was found and was completely mutilated by a changed she-wolf, a most unexpected demise for her.
There are others…
“Tell the happy couple congratulations then!” Annan walked in silence as he led me to a side door of the palace. One I used to use every time I wanted to get in quietly. I may have slept with the guards a few times to get in, but nothing I couldn’t handle. They were quick to be done anyway.
“One more thing, Sibille.” I turned around to look up at Annan, who was standing on the steps with his arms crossed and a scowl on his face. “You may have been pardoned of death for collaborating with the enemy due to your mother, but that doesn’t dismiss you entirely. You are forthwith stripped of your title, and you are no longer Duchess but a mere commoner. Don’t worry, most of your friends are too, so don’t worry about being alone.”
My mouth dropped. This I wasn’t expecting. I thought I could at least maintain my title until all of this was through. “You have one week to get your things out of your home, and then it will be deemed His and Her Highness’ property.” I couldn’t say a word, not without sounding like a spoiled brat and blowing my cover.
“Of course. I thank you again for sparing my life.” I bowed my head and walked hastily before he could take anything else away from me. I needed to get to work and fast. There wasn’t a way in Hades I was going to give up my home, where I was born and lived for the past hundreds of years. Not on his life.
Marching up the steps, I threw the door open to have the maids packing their bags. “What the hell do you think you are doing?” I seethed.
“Madam, we have received word that you are no longer a dutchess, and we have been granted new jobs at the palace,” the eldest spoke as she picked up her bag. “We wish you the best, Madam.” Several maids, the butler, and the cook all took off through the door. I couldn’t even make them come back; they were going to the palace and would tattle on me.
Letting out a large growl, I felt my teeth start to itch, and my claws come forth. Breathing deeply, I tried to think of soothing thoughts. I will not revert back to my animalistic ways. We are the superior race. A few breaths caught in my throat as I felt the itch fade from my existence. Now, it was time to get to work.
Grabbing my father’s mirror from his bedside table, I repeated the enchantment that I had heard thousands of times. The mirror reflection began to fog, and in it, I saw none other than my partner in crime, Sorceress Prinna of the B***d Coven.
“It’s been a while,” her sickly sweet voice spoke. For a witch or sorceress, you would think they would be ugly as they draw some of their powers from the dark. Not, Prinna. She was the epitome of beauty and didn’t even have to use her magic to make her that way.
“I heard The Court has failed in battle. Why do you summon me, Sibille? I can only do so much with my small coven, and your father managed to get caught in three days. That wasn’t enough time to weaken Orion’s army of shifters.”
Prinna and her coven were summoning dark powers of demons of Tartarus that were thirsty for innocent b***d since that fuels their own dark power, but it takes time. Orion decided to strike early, and we were left defenseless. If my father wasn’t caught, there was a chance we could have survived for another two days.
“Yes, there were complications,” I huffed in irritation. Meaning I didn’t want my father to have control over me once I was mated to Orion. “But this isn’t over yet if you still want some power over the Moon Kingdom.” Prinna has wanted the power North of the Moon Kingdom, specifically the dragons. Dragon shifter b***d was hard to come by, their skin was tough just like their scales, and they hardly ever flew South near Vamparia. To send her own up the mountain to try and capture one would not only be suicide on them but as well as her coven since Queen Estar and King Emilio are brutally protective of their own. She would need an army, specifically The Light Kingdom, to storm their territory, and that is what I promised them. An army that was swift and stealthy.
“Fine, what do you need?” She spoke exasperatedly. The dragon’s b***d would make her and her coven stronger, so I knew she would take the chance.
“First, I need you to free someone from prison and find someone to break a mating bond.” Prinna scoffed.
“I don’t have anyone to do that,” she growled out. “It would take time.”
“How much time?” I pressed.
“I don’t know, time. I’d need to find a powerful demon with no b***d attached to them from Hades or a god. Both will be hard to find and be willing to work with us.”
“Figure it out, and I’ll do the rest. I’ll get Orion’s mate to you, and you hold her until it breaks. First, rescue the prisoner.” I held out three nail clippings that Violet gave me and dropped them into the mirror. They appeared in Prinna’s hand as she took a sniff.
“A wolf? What will a wolf do for you?” Her eyebrow raised in question as she started to crush the nail in a bowl with various spices.
“Willa trusts her, the wolf’s name is Violet, and she will deliver her to you,” I snickered at the full-proof plan. This was going to run smoothly, and without much manpower, I could feel it.
Willa’s POV
“Violet escaped?” Orion grew angry. “How did this happen?” Eudora cowered a bit before regaining her footing on the branch.
“We don’t know, your highness; we think magic might be involved.” Orion grabbed my hand as soon as I put on my skirt, pulling me away from the tree branches.
“We fly back; just know we will have to walk through the main gates of the kingdom, Eudora. Let Annan know of our arrival.”
“Yes, your highness!” Eudora sped off quickly as Orion unfolded his wings as I did mine. With one leap, we both took a flight to head back to the kingdom. Flying over the elven territory, we saw Zaos and Annabelle, as well as Lura waving frantically. I let go of Orion’s hand and cupped my hands to my mouth, and yelled.
“I marked him! He’s mine!!!” They all started laughing while waving us off. Orion only smiled and shook his head as we continued our journey.
It was a lot faster with me flying on my own and not as scary as I thought it would be. The air in my face and the ability to control if I wanted to rise in the sky or lower myself was my own type of comfort. Letting go and letting Orion carry me through the sky was still a scary thought; trusting myself was another.
We were on the outskirts of town when I saw Cricket at the orphanage waving frantically, calling his fellow roommates that were hiding in the trees. Pointing to Cricket, Orion understood as we flew down to where they were playing.
“You came back! I told Nana you would!” Cricket gave me a large hug, and the other children started laughing as they came up to both of us.
“Why are your wings out?” A little girl asked innocently. “We have to keep them away.”
“Not anymore,” Orion stated. “This is a new kingdom, and you are to learn to fly and use them. Just as our creators had meant for us to do.” The children smiled as they started ripping holes in the back of their tunics. Nana stood in shock as she threw a tunic she was repairing in her rocking chair. Mumbling it was useless.
Within minutes all the children were displaying their wings triumphantly. Many tried to take off from the ground but only hoovered. “That’s it, Cricket, keep practicing that. You will have to work your way up. You won’t be able to fly long distances for another few years. Your full wingspan will come when you are 12,” Orion ruffed up Cricket’s hair while he grabbed my hand.
“We need to get going, Darling, or we are not going to be there until sunset,” before we took off again, the little girl grabbed my hand.
“But why are your wings so colorful while ours are not?” Letting go of Orion’s hand, I brushed her beautiful pink curls from her head.
“I’m half siren when Orion and I got together. My other half was human and took on more of a fae look. The colors are of my own family, and I guess it made me the perfect mix between siren and fae.” The little nodded, happy with my answer so Orion and I could take off again.
Many stood in awe as we flew over the marketplace, several fae cheering as we flew over the palace gates. Men took off their tunics, and the women made room for the wings to expand. I had never seen so many people so excited for the new proclamation that Orion had wanted to spread the first day after the battle.
“No more hiding who we are. If you wish to fly, you fly. If you wish to walk among others, then do so. You are never to be afraid of who or what you are, no matter your rank. Representatives will be called to a new Court to help with aiding the different territories. A voting system will be in place so your own territories can select their representative. More information will be sent out as we put it to paper.”
More cheers from the crowd and a hot passionate k**s later, we entered the palace, almost forgetting the one reason why we were back so early—Violet’s escape.
