Her Forever

(Book 3)- Chapter 16

King Orion’s POV

Willa wouldn’t even look at me as she came to bed. She refused to cry all night, even though I saw the frustration in her eyes. She was closed off, not wanting to show any weakness towards me but I knew better. She was hurting and felt betrayed that I wouldn’t discuss the bonding ceremony with her. With any other woman that understood our world, they would be thrilled, however Willa isn’t from here, she isn’t any other girl and in my stupid mind I thought she would love it.

She’s fighting it, every step of the way she is, and I don’t know how to break down her walls. All supernatural’s were beasts compared to humans, there were some aspects of our bodies we have trouble controlling and each minute with her, not having her as mine completely pulls at my soul. Willa may not feel the pull as strongly as I do, but I know she will feel it once we are one.

My thoughts continued to ravage my mind as I held onto her, the only way I knew to keep her protected. I hoped my touch would calm her and we could talk more in the morning as we travelled back to our home. I couldn’t wait to show her the palace, her new home. I had already sent word to prepare the royal bedchambers to my most trusted maids and to keep silent about it. If word got out that my mate was to arrive before I was ready to announce it, there would repercussions for their actions.

My thoughts of Willa, finally letting go and trusting me gave me a warm feeling as I drifted off to sleep, hearing her even breathing.

Feeling a cold breeze enter the room, I sat up confused. The bedroom door was open and Willa wasn’t in the bed. In fact, it felt cold. “Willa? Darling?” I sat up and threw the covers off me as I jumped to check the bathing facilities.

“Willa?” The water closet light was off, but I still threw the shower doors open and checked the tub. Nothing. Running down the stairs in just my linen sleep trousers I looked in the kitchen. I begin to panic, hoping she didn’t wander into one of the guards or even Annan’s room. “EVERYONE UP!” I yelled and with in seconds everyone was standing in the living room.

My breathing had picked up, my chest heaving, and my own teeth began to pierce my lips. “Your highness, you need to calm down.” Annan came up to me from behind, but I grabbed him by the collar quickly and stuck him to the wall. “We have to stop doing this,” Annan rolled his eyes.

“Where is my destined!?” I roared in his face. Everyone stilled, not knowing what to say. Not only did my fangs descend but I felt the rest of my teeth transforming into their wild state. I haven’t done this since I was 100 years old at the Battle of Erund fighting the Ogres over land territory.

“W-what do ya mean?” Fionn said, putting on his shirt. “She’s was with you, we haven’t seen ‘er.” My wings haven’t left my body in awhile now, but I could feel them twitch inside me, wanting to fly out of the house and search the area. Annan seeing my struggle, patted my hand and I let him down. “We’ll find her, come on-“ Annan started spouting out orders and I immediately left the house. Running in the direction of the woods, thinking who ever took her must still be traveling. She couldn’t have gone far.

Several pixies flew far away from me, seeing my state. My back was still twitching, but I kept them at bay. My teeth were sharper than I remember, and I know my eyes have gone black against my white skin. Hearing a twinkle above me I stopped my pursuit to look up, it was a pixie named Nia. Nia quietly sat on my shoulder as I waited for her to speak. Tink, tink tinkle tink was all that anyone else could hear but since I was bred to rule, I could understand all the fae creatures.

“She’s by the lake, she went with her friend.” Nia had spoken. “They were laughing and skipping by not too long ago.” I nodded for a quick thank you and sprinted in the direction of the lake. You could hear squeals of screams and laughter until they stopped suddenly.

Male voices infiltrated my ears as I continued to run forward and brush the bushes to the side. “Well, well, well, what do we have here?” I heard the voice of the familiar Alanso. That wolf liked Willa; I could feel his disgusting aura of wants a mile away.

“Willa, what are you doing here? The King will be pissed you are here…” the mumbling continued as my anger started to cloud my hearing. Pushing the last bush aside I see my Willa, at the end of the pier, soaking wet, with her eyes as large as tea saucers. Fear was in her eyes as I looked at her.

She was afraid of me.

Alanso, stood back as he heard a roar come pouncing from the bushes on the other side of the lake. Alexo’s wolf stood tall and began to circle back around where we were all standing. Violet cowered in fear as Alexo transformed in mere seconds. “Violet! What the hell are you doing!” Violet swam to the pier and grabbed her clothes and put them on while she was still in the lake. Her body had been completely naked and Alexso’s anger was getting the best of him.

“All of you leave, this is a mate matter!” Alanso, Sammy and Caleb nodded and looked at Willa. She was still hidden under the pier and waved good bye to them. Alanso eyes hardened as he looked at me. “Don’t f*****g scare her, I don’t care of you are king of some f*****g faries.” I grew my stature taller and bared my teeth at him and hissed, I easily towered over the average sized wolf. He may have muscle and a wolf, but I was a king. I had more powers than he could even fathom. My nails grew into golden claws as I gripped his neck. “Mind your business pup.” I picked him up as he struggled. His friends stood back and slowly walked backwards until they were at safe distance.

“I know what is best for my mate. Get that through your head.” For a wolf, he was quite scared of my appearance, fae have been shunned into not releasing their anger of their true forms any longer so this was a first for him and his friends to see. Even Alexo and Violet stood stunned as they continued to back away.

Dropping the piece of bulky meat, I glanced over at Willa, who was shaking in fear. Controlling my breathing, I tried to calm my anger but it as no use. Everyone had their backs turned to us and were walking away. Feeling afraid to speak, I motioned her to come to me, but she was hesitant. I turned around, giving her privacy. Hearing her pull herself out of the water, I continued to concentrate on my primitive side to try and make it still. The soft pitter patter of her feet came close, but I stayed turned around, afraid she was would run seeing my face.

I knew my teeth were still razor sharp, my eyes have been dilated and my ears even stretched farther than their normal size. It was primitive, it was animalistic that was what we really were on the inside. No matter how much my race and myself tried to hide it, it will always be there. I was just relieved my wings did not emerge; this in itself was going to be a lot for her.

Willa’s hand slid into mine and she looked up at me. Her eyes were glazed with tears, fighting for them not to fall. I wanted to urge her to let them fall, let all over sorrow out, but I couldn’t. My voice was hoarse, raspy, like gravel rumbling in my throat. My Darling had heard enough when I yelled at Alanso.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I was angry. I don’t have control anymore and I wanted to have fun, one last time.”

She doesn’t think she will have fun anymore. Gods what the hell is going on in that head of hers?

I got on my knee and motioned her to sit and she listened, for once. Picking her legs up under one arm and supporting her back with the other, we headed back to the cabin.

It was late, and dawn would be approaching in a few hours. I laid her on the bed, her hair still wet as I covered her body with a blanket. I stood up to go downstairs until I could fully calm down but she called for me.

“Orion?” Turning around the worried look on her face made me giddy and in turn made me happy in a sick, twisted way. Maybe she did care about me. “Please stay.” Her voice was barely a whisper. Letting out a sigh, I came around the bed and laid down, she automatically glued herself to my side and buried her face into my chest.

“I’m sorry,” was the last thing I heard as we both fell into a deep sleep.

Willa’s POV

Instead of riding on Asland, Orion had us ride in a carriage that Alpha Seth and Luna Sadie let us borrow. All the dresses that Orion bought as well as everyone’s luggage was stored inside with us. The seats were well cushioned, and you could hardly feel the bumps along the road as we traveled.

Orion hadn’t said anything about last night, just that I should shower before we left so I wouldn’t be uncomfortable during the day. Orion was mostly reading parchment paper and reading notes as I sat by the window and looked at the scenery.

We passed through most of the dense forest where most of the shifters stay, now we were at the plains area where there were still some shifters such as lions and panthers. The occasional forest would come up and bears and tigers would come trotting by. There were several children that would run up and pat on the carriage in which Orion would g***n at the loud noises. He was being such a grump.

One child ran up to the carriage and gave me a bouquet of beautiful flowers and I couldn’t help but smile and blow him a k**s which resulted the other children to complain. Pulling in the flowers I smelled them, they smelled of citrus fruits like oranges and lemons. No flower could compare to this back on Earth. They were orange and yellow with hints of purple inside each petal, they stood out brightly against my olive-green dress that Orion had me wear.

“What do you think Darling?” he asked suddenly.

“Hmm?” I continued to look at the exotic bouquet.

“The flowers? Are they to your liking?” Orion gave me the first smile of the day and it was nearly noon.

“Yes, they are beautiful. I’ve never seen flowers like these before. Are there many flowers around the castle?” I inquired.

“Darling, there are several gardens around the palace. You can pick as many as you want and make bouquets for our chambers.” I smiled at the thought. There weren’t a lot of flowers around the pack I used to live in, it was mostly trees and not enough sunlight to reach the ground.

“Orion? About last night…” I started but my voice quickly faded at the mention of last night.

“How about we forget about it,” Orion cut in quickly. His hand came up and brushed a strand of my dark hair. “We both did and said things yesterday we regret and it is best we put it behind us. We will be more open with communication from now on. Hmm?” I nodded and grabbed his hand.

When I saw Orion’s fangs last night, the deep guttural growl and the way his ears had elongated like that, like an animal it made me fearful. I know he cannot word-vomit everything out in just two days of knowing each other but it was certainly a sight to see.

“I wanted to ask you-“ Orion cut me off quickly. “I know about my appearance.” His eyes darted to the view outside. The waterfall we were passing was beautiful and I could have sworn I saw a mermaid, but I dismissed it. Talking to Orion was more important.

“There are things about faes, that aren’t spoken. One of those things was what happened last night. I lost control…” Orion paused as he looked at me. He looked so lost and broken, I didn’t know how to comfort him so I did the one thing I thought would help and that was to sit in his lap. Werewolves liked it, why not him? I giggled when his eyes shot up with surprise. “Go on, let me hear the story,” I mused. He let out a deep chuckle and continued.

“Faes are said to be descended from pixies, pixies can be mean little creatures when angry. I believe there is a story about some tooth fairy that take teeth away from children back on Earth?” I nodded my head. “Well, there were some angry pixies over some land disputes once upon a time and the pixies attacked their enemies while they were sleeping, by pulling all of their teeth.” I gasped and Orion gave a large smile. “It was all true, it is in their history.”

“Makes my teeth hurt,” I laughed.

“Anyway, they have been dubbed feral and unsocialized creatures by many fae, but you have now come to know they are actually a quiet, pleasant creature. However, that stigma still stays. The gods created all the supernatural so they just took the pixies as a blue print and experimented. Next, they had the faries and then the Faes. That was when they stopped creating faes. Many generations ago faes said that the faes was the final creation of our kind so that must mean we are the superior.

We now have to keep ourselves in check and not succumb to some pixie tendencies that run in our b***d. In which I succumbed to that last night.”

“But it’s normal.” I chirped, not afraid of who he was last night, more shocked. “That is part of your nature, it is the same with all supernatural. Werewolves do it when they are upset, especially their mate. All shifters do it, I even heard that vampires throw hissy fits too and become more demon like! I’m unsure about witches and such, but that is just who you are! You shouldn’t have to suppress yourself and not be the supernatural you are!” I was starting to get worked up and Orion rubbed his hands on my arms.

“It’s alright. I’m fine now,” he brushed me off.

“Well, I’m not fine!” I pouted. “I liked seeing you all mad, it let me know you cared. Even though it is kind of weird for me to see that,” I blushed. “You are supposed to do that. No one has ever gotten so protective over me and I liked it when you got mad at Alanso. You stood up for me, claimed me, protected me. I wouldn’t want anything less! What do other faes do?” Orion pondered a moment.

“Outlying territories, they are more open with who they are. They do show forms of aggressiveness and possessiveness. They protect their mates ferociously as long as no one from the capital is near by.

“Well, why not? You should change it,” I demanded.

“Really, my Queen? If all this talk about change and accepting who we really are is that important to you, does that mean you will accept who you are, the Queen of the Fae?” Orion smirked.
