Her Forever

(Book 2)- Chapter 33

Rosalie

Anana had left, I was hoping she would give away my location for Jack just to further tick off Derek, but she wanted to see me suffer too. This woman was sicker than Derek, almost. She at least didn’t lay a hand on me; she just cooed at how she’d used her twisted mind to have other people do her bidding.

I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, that maybe something happened to her in her past that caused her to be this way. Some man may have beaten her, or her parents were sick people that didn’t love her and made her this way. Nature over nurture? The question that plagues every psychologists’ mind. The more she talked and taunted me with the things she told Derek to do to me, inwardly made me cringe. There was no hope for her; she made her choice to be this way. I didn’t care if she had a horrible past; she was driving someone else to suffer.

After being left alone in my thoughts for too long, I could hear the faint whisperings. For a split second, I thought it was Jack, but as soon as my hopes were held high, the voice would be gone. Maybe I was indeed losing my mind. I started to call for him, praying his voice would come back to soothe me.

“I still smell her; her scent is strong here.” Jack’s voice said mused. He also sounded tired, defeated. I heard it, clear as day as if he was right beside me. “It is like she is still in the room.” I heard someone agreeing, but I couldn’t see anyone there. I had lost my mind.

“Jack?” I said aloud. “Jack, are you there?” I started waving my hands around like I was blind, praying he could hear my pathetic weak voice.

“Listen!” Keith barked. Keith was here too; I wouldn’t imagine Keith being there too, would I?

“Jack! Keith!! Help! Where are you!” I screamed. I didn’t care if Derek heard; they were here!!

“Kitten? Where are you!? Baby!?” Jack’s voice was pleading, urgent and desperate.

“Jack, please, I’m here, chained to the wall! I started sobbing; I was a complete mess. I wanted out of this basement and back in his arms. He was so close and my body knew it too. I heard shuffling and scuffing of the floors, but nothing moved; he wasn’t even there.

Please help me!”

“There must be a protection spell, hiding her or making it so we can’t see her,” Keith said, panicked.

Hearing the door slam open, I heard Derek start to yell. “Stupid, weak a*s enchantment.” Derek’s large feet continued to descend the stairs while my heartbeat quickened. I may be human, but I knew my fight or flight was at its ultimate prime. He had fed me only because he would change me, and he needed me physically strong, not so much mentally. I was going to fight through this; Jack was so close, I had to.

Derek unlocked the chains, and I could hear Jack screaming, telling me it would be OK. “That’s right, Rosie, it will be OK.” Derek sniffed up my neck while holding my jaw in his hand. His teeth elongated, getting ready to bite me, and with all the strength I could muster, I tried to pull away. Derek’s grip tightened, and I started screaming. Waving my hands, kicking and screaming like a toddler in a toy store getting refused by their parents of something new.

“Please don’t! Don’t bite me, no!” Thrashing a bit, Derek wrestled me to the ground, and several other Vampires came into the room to help him keep me secure. “Get away from me! Don’t touch me!”

Jack’s roar could be heard, but it was still so faint. My heart was beating as fast as a hummingbird. Surely hoping my heart would stop so he would leave me, Derek looked me straight in my eyes. They were bright red, glowing, trying to pierce my soul with fear. “You will submit to me,” he pinned my arms back, and another Vampire turned my head. “Even though this is going faster than I had anticipated, it will have to do.”

Derek’s fangs descended, and as he was about to bite, I saw a dark flash behind Derek’s head. The other Vampires perked up, sensing the change in the atmosphere. Derek paused, looking up, his inner beast realizing they were no longer alone in the room.

Jack. It was the feeling I always felt when he would come into the room. My breathing stopped, and I felt a warm invisible blanket surround me; it gave me comfort, and my heart started to slow. I gently sighed in relief until I heard the deep, throaty growls from both Werewolves and a screech and hissing noise from the Vampires.

One Vampire holding my legs was suddenly missing and the other holding my head fell on top of me. A warm liquid was dripping on my face, Derek snarled. Ripping me up by my arm, he dislocated it in the process, and I squealed in pain, afraid that screaming would draw too much attention. Derek had always told me that if I caused a scene around others, he would worsen my punishments, and I was still terrified. Especially now that I know the truth about him being a Vampire.

My hair was matted with b***d; the scene before me was a m******e. I had never seen so much b***d that wasn’t my own, nor bodies upon bodies lying lifeless on the floor. Jack’s warriors were relentless in the large, concrete basement. Derek continued to look from side to side, looking for an escape. His arm gripped tighter on my dislocated arm, and his claws caused my own b***d to stream onto the floor with the rest of the bloody pools.

I heard Jack yell at Keith, and I finally met his eyes after a long week. My heart jumped, and even with the pain, I tried to pull my arm from Derek. Derek saw the desperation in my face when Jack and I locked our eyes together. This only infuriated Derek, and he turned me, so my chest was facing him.

“This is for us, only us,” Derek whispered, and he plunged his sharp fangs into my neck.

I tried to scream, but no sound came out. My mouth was open, trying to let my pain radiate from the pits of my stomach. It wasn’t long that he was no longer attached to my neck, but there was enough pain still soaking in my skin. My knees gave out, and I felt myself falling, falling until I fell into someone’s warm embrace. It wasn’t Jack, but it was something familiar, something safe.

“Lee, it’s gonna be OK. We have to finish watching our movie, remember?” It was Benjamin; he continued to stroke my cheek with the back of his hand, wiping the b***d that still remained from when I was on the floor.

“You have to stay awake, Lee. Don’t go to sleep on me; things will be fine, AMANDA!” he screamed. Feeling Amanda’s presence, I grabbed onto her arm. I couldn’t speak; I tried to say something but the burning in my neck continued to numb my lips. If anything, I sounded like I was grunting or gargling.

“s**t,” Amanda whispered as she opened a box beside me. Touches of someone’s hand on my neck began to wipe the b***d away, and I felt the pressure to stop the b***d. There was so much pain there; there couldn’t be just holes in my neck. No way, it couldn’t just be a Vampire bite; it was more painful than that. My neck felt mauled.

“The bastard didn’t let go; he ripped into her muscle,” Amanda whispered quickly. “We need to get her back to our pack doctor.” Benjamin put me in his arms, and I g*****d. My dislocated arm was lying haphazardly. It was then Amanda noticed it was dislocated and cursed under her breath again. Gently laying the arm on my torso, Benjamin started to walk me outside as Amanda held pressure. Benjamin tried to get my head to stay in the crook of his neck so it wouldn’t flop back and forth as he ran to the car.

“J-J-Jaaaaack,” I m****d. The fighting was still going on, but my eyes kept shutting, trying to keep the grotesque scene away. I could handle my own b***d, my own pain, and suffering, but not others. The entire yard was littered with Vampires; when were there so many? I had only seen a few before?

Benjamin quickened the pace and put me in the back of one of the packs’ large SUVs. The seats were pulled from the back, and they laid me down on a thin mat with IV poles, fluids, and a much larger first aid kit.

“What happened?” The voice was severe as he ripped several plastic bags of needles and gauze.

“She’s been bit; one of the warriors ripped the Vampire off of her before he could disconnect from her neck.”

“Was there venom present?” The doctor threw on some gauze and made Amanda press into my neck. I arched my back in pain, trying to scream, but again, no sound came out. The doctor then took my arm and pushed hard back into the socket, so it was no longer dislocated.

Amanda started to furiously shake her head no. “Not that we saw, but we should treat her as such. It all happened really fast, it may not seem so for her, but it did. That is probably why he couldn’t disconnect correctly.”

My breathing quickened. Starting to panic, I took my good arm and reached for someone, anyone. Again, I had trouble breathing and speaking, but one word was all that remained on my tongue.

“J-Jack.” It was hard to talk; saying his name was hard, but my soul craved him. My eyes darted back and forth while I felt pricks in my arm, probably an IV for fluids. “He’s coming, Lee,” Ben cooed and patted my head. “He’s coming right now.” On cue, Jack opened the back of the SUV and yelled for the driver to get going. Amanda and Benjamin left my side and sat up at the front while Jack grabbed my hand.

“I’m so sorry, Kitten, I’m so sorry I couldn’t find you in time.” His eyes were watering, b***d was thrown across his torso like spattered paint. There were worry lines, bags under his eyes and he just looked drained. Not my happy and perky Jack with a panty-dropping smile.

He had done his best; he looked for me in a place he probably never would have thought of finding. I was proud of him, proud of my future mate.

I continued to speak but had trouble; the muscles near my neck refused to work, causing my jaw to tighten up. There was no slack in it, so I could move my mouth to form my words. I said one word to get through to him, that everything was OK.

“Mate,” I breathed. The grim line on his lips softened and turned to a slight smile. His hand patted my hair, and instantly, I became drowsy. “Alpha, I’m giving her sedatives to ease the pain, then we can get to work on healing her neck.” Jack nodded and kissed my lips; they were so warm and welcoming. The comfort flowed through my body as I looked up at his warm eyes. I knew right then, and there I could never be away from this man; I wanted to be beside him forever.

The medication started working, my eyelids tried to fight the gravity, and I fell asleep to get away from the pain.
