Her Forever

(Book 2)- Chapter 27

Rosalie

“You can’t hide in here forever, you know,” Amanda scolded me as I laid face-first onto the floor. I was dramatic, I knew it, she knew it, heck, even Benjamin knew it. Now I was just milking it a bit too much.

“He just left me here, just let me die. I’ve become dependent on a big strong Alpha man; what have I become?” I wailed. Macaroni looked at me unamused and continued to lick her butt. Thanks, pal; I appreciate the sentiment… as always.

“I know all the emotions and the bond is making you a bit crazy, but we need to keep your mind off of it. So I have an idea that involves making your Alpha a bit crazy.” Amanda smirked while grabbing my phone and flipping the camera on.

The next few hours of ignoring texts from Jack, Amanda, and Benjamin scouted my closet for the sexiest pieces of clothing they could find. It ranged from formal wear, casual, semi-formal, and even swimming attire. Amanda had done my hair and had it curled to perfection. It cascaded down my back in big, thick ringlets, and the volume was just enough to give me a “just had s*x” look, as Benjamin said. I rolled my eyes and just continued to do what they asked.

I had to give seductive poses, uninterested poses, and even just plain smiles, which was hard to do since my heart was aching the entire time. Amanda and Benjamin did their best to keep my mind busy, so the pain in my chest would be distracted. Who was I kidding, though? I was hurting. It was worse than heartburn because there was no way to rectify it. I craved him, his touch, his face, his eyes. When Amanda noticed I was starting to get into a funk, she would put me in positions that would make a pornstar blush.

Benjamin found the lingerie that Jack had apparently bought for me. He had to leave because Amanda said that Benjamin might lose his eyes if Jack found out.

“He’s going to love these!” Amanda squealed as I changed back into my skinny jeans and baby pink tee. I rolled my eyes and put my hair back up in a high ponytail.

“I don’t know if I want to send him these. It just looks like I’m playing dress-up; I don’t look like a model or anything. He will probably just laugh.” I threw myself on the bed and let out a sizeable depressing sigh as Benjamin walked in.

“How did it go? Do you look as ravishing as Amanda claims?” Benjamin took the phone from Amanda and started to scroll through the pictures. His eyes became wide, and he began to smile. “Damn girl, these are nice! Where are the lingerie pictures?” Benjamin started to scroll down the phone faster until Amanda ripped it out of his hand.

“Those are definitely not for you! This is your future Luna, you do not get the privilege to look at these! Alpha eyes only!” Amanda laughed. I was about to argue about not sending them to Jack and forget the whole thing until the entire pack house’s power went out.

“Well, that is only mildly concerning,” Benjamin mumbled. I looked around the room, which was almost in complete darkness. Just then, white lights and siren alarms started to go out. “s**t! Get Rosalie to the safe room!”

Amanda grabbed my arm and started tearing through the packhouse. It was utterly dark, and I couldn’t see anything in front of my face. Amanda’s Werewolf senses must have been taking over because I wasn’t sure how she saw anything. Instead of going down the usual stairway, we came to a blank wall at the end of the Alpha floor. Thinking we were going to hit the wall at full speed, it opened automatically, and with a few twists and pulls of a rope, we started to descend past the first floor and into the basement of the packhouse.

“Just do as I say, alright?” Amanda began rushing with her words. “You are to stay down here and not make a sound until Benjamin or I come back to get you. Do you understand?” I stood there, staring at her, not really comprehending what was going on. “DO YOU UNDERSTAND?” she yelled while shaking me with her hands on my shoulders. I nodded yes, and she opened a small compartment that I had to crawl into, and she shoved me in, and I heard a loud click. I was locked in. Now was probably the wrong time to mention I was claustrophobic.

The room was big enough for me to walk around in but was the size of an average bathroom. There was a toilet out in the open, a small mattress with blankets and pillows, and some non-perishable food items and jugs of water. It looked like an underground bunker that could house me for a good few days.

Just knowing that I couldn’t get out on my own made me panic. Breathing rather harshly, I tried to think of ways to calm down. In and out, I slowed my breathing while holding my hands over my face. This unfortunately reminded me of the days when I was younger, when I’d been locked in the basement at Derek’s.

Not knowing what to do, I sat on the mattress and hugged my phone to me that I had amazingly held onto through the giant rush of running. I still had a Wi-Fi signal down here amazingly, but I had no cell service to call anyone.

I laid my head back and banged my head lightly on the wall behind me. It was cold, so I pulled the blanket around me tightly. I didn’t know what was going on outside, but I could hear faint sounds of yelling and maybe some growling. I had never been more thankful to not know what was going on. The thought of hundreds of Werewolves shifting and fighting something or someone had me scared out of my mind. The one thing that bothered me was why didn’t the alarm system go off… and why the power had gone out.

Even though our packhouse was utterly covered with cameras, they still had backup patrollers always lurking. Something must have been working on the inside for it to fail. I set the whole thing up myself and with my very own security software. The only way to switch it off was to cut the power from it was to cut the generator in the basement of the packhouse. I didn’t even trust the electricity company to keep us safe. It was overkill but worth it. However, it had clearly failed in the end.

Thinking about how it failed only started to get me flustered. It should not have failed; something was wrong. I tried to lay down and rest, but I was restless. How could I rest when my friends are out there fighting. I stood up to start pacing, but I heard a bang at the door where I’d slid in. I would have to crouch down to get out, but there wasn’t a way out for me. No door handle or any other way in or out. It continued to bang louder and louder.

Surely I would hear someone on the other side; Amanda said not to come near the door unless it was her or Benjamin. The bang continued to get louder, and I huddled in the corner on the opposite side. I could hear mumbling; people were talking on the other side but not loud enough for me to hear. The sounds of screwing from an electric screwdriver came through the thick metal and then a loud smack. “STAND BACK!” I heard a deep voice yell. The hair on the back of my neck stood up; I knew that voice.

BANG. The thunderous sound ripped through the room, and the door cracked open slightly with smoke coming through. I shook and held the blanket around me. Please don’t let it be him. Not him, please. I begged anyone that would listen. The man bent low with his right foot coming in first and tried to stand up at full height but was unable due to the small stature of the room. His back was slightly hunched over, his hair was black as a raven, and bright red eyes looking straight into my soul. His crooked grin slid up the left side of his face as he saw my horrified look.

“Rosie Posie, look at you; you are all grown up.” My breath hitched, and my heart was thumbing through my chest. Hands shaking, I wrapped the blanket around me tighter; the tears were falling down my cheeks without my permission, and the mascara dripped onto the blanket. “I no longer have to hide what I am from you now; thank the gods, those contacts were infuriating.”

“No,” I whispered. “Y-you can’t be here.” My breathing quickened as he took a few steps forward, which ended up being just next to me. I leaned my body up against the wall hoping for me to be swallowed up somehow. He hadn’t changed, not one bit. Even without the contacts, his eyes were still dangerous, and now his fangs were showing past his lips as he continued to look me over.

“I told you, you could never get away from me, Rosie. It took some time, but I found you, my dear,” his voice was ominous as he put his hand out for me to take.

I looked at him and back at his hand, “Please don’t make me take it,” I thought.

“N-no, I won’t go,” I spoke rather confidently. Something stirred in me; I couldn’t be the weak person I was before. I had become so much more than what I was; Jack and everyone here had helped me fight for a better life and people that loved me. Jack would love me no matter what; he showed me that even with this battered body.

“Excuse me?” Derek sneered. “You belong to me; you will come!” he yelled loudly. His cold hand ripped the blanket from me, and I tried to take it back; Derek gripped his claw-like fingers into my skin. I screamed in pain, and he only gripped tighter. Warm drops of b***d dripped down my arms. He pulled me through the small opening where several other Vampires awaited us.

Several of them started to sniff the air, and their eyes almost glowed. I tried wiggling out of Derek’s grip, but it only proved to make him angrier. I wasn’t going to give up; no matter how much it hurt, I couldn’t go back. The place I constantly dreamed about in my nightmares had to stay in my nightmares; I couldn’t make it a reality.

Derek didn’t let go, he eventually pulled me over his shoulder, and I hit his back, scratching and clawing him, but he only laughed as I drew b***d from his cold, clammy skin. Leading me outside, I saw Wolves fighting off a large number of Vampires and what it looked like Witches throwing balls of fire from their hands. Screaming out for Amanda and Benjamin seemed futile since I didn’t know what their Wolves looked like. The sounds of snarls, howling, and yelling oozed in the air. My minor pleas for help only got lost in the sound.

“Derek has me, tell Jack, someone tell him. Tell him to find me please!” I screamed and begged. With one last blast from the Witch that seemed to be the most powerful of them all, froze the lot of Werewolves that tried to get to me. With a few laughs from the Vampires and the less powerful Witches, they came closer to us, and a ball of light engulfed us. Many Wolves looked in my direction and watched me disappear.
