Her Chosen Love

Chapter 2

Layla's pov

Just as his teeth scraped my neck, he was thrown off me and sent to the others side of the alley. The only problem was that he still had a hold of my wrist when he was thrown so I stumbled forward. Fortunately, before I was thrown with him, he had released his hold on me so he could catch himself.

As I fell forward, my ankle twisted and my scream of pain echoed throughout the alley along with the crack of my ankle. I caught myself with my hands while scraping them up in the process. I cursed myself for my clumsiness and scooted against the wall, hoping I would magically disappear into it. All I wanted to do right now was to get out the alley.

As another crack sounded through the alley, I looked up to see a very handsome man looking at me in concern. He was about a foot or more taller than me, and I could tell he was very muscular from his tight fitting t-shirt. I moved my eyes from his chest before he could see my lingering look.

"Are you okay?" He asked and for some reason his voice sent shivers across my skin.

I nodded and tried to stand, but I fell back down with a cry of pain, but before I hit the ground he caught me and picked me up bridal style. As soon as his skin came in contact with mine, I shivered. His skin was cold but that is not why I reacted that way. I shivered because where our skin touched there were these little tingles. "Thank you...."

"Adrian. My name is Adrian." He smiled down at me and I couldn't help but smile back. Something about him made me trust him. I felt safe in his presence, and just looking at him gave me this warm feeling.

"Layla." I said still smiling.

"A beautiful name for a beautiful woman," he said causing a blush to paint itself across my cheeks. He let out a chuckle, and I hid my face in my hands. Not even a second later he let out a growl. I removed my hands to look up at him. "Never cover your blush. It is too beautiful to hide." This time I didn't cover the blush that appeared with his words, and he smiled happily down at me.

"Where are we going?" I asked after I realized I had no idea where he was taking me. I was seriously too trusting of this random guy, but I couldn't help it. My instincts were telling me to trust him but my brain was screaming at me to not trust random strangers.

"To my car." He answered breaking me from my thoughts. He carefully pointed in front of us with the hand under my knees. When I looked to where he was pointing, I couldn't help but laughing. "What?" He asked totally confused.

"That is not a car." I gestured to the limo and continued laughing.

"I suppose it's not," he said chuckling along with me. He asked for my address and after I told him he set me in the back seat and went to the driver to tell him where to go.

As I sat in the vehicle, it hit me. This was a limo and the only people known to have limos were the royals. As he got in, I couldn't help thinking that I was sitting opposite of one of the kings, but I guess it made sense. Only another supernatural could take on a vampire, but I couldn't help thinking about which one I was sitting across from now.

"I take it by your contemplative face that you know who I am." He sighed when he noticed me staring at him.

"A little. I only know that you are one of the kings. Which one are you exactly though?" I let curiosity get the better of me and my manners practically went diving out the window.

He looked at me for a little bit before letting out a soft, "The vampire king."

I could tell he thought I was probably going to go jumping out the window when I found out, so I decided to prove him wrong. I mean he hasn't done anything to hurt me. So far he has only tried to help me. If he wanted to do something he probably would have already done it by now, or he could have just let that other vampire kill me.

"Okay," I said calmly.

He looked at me with mixed emotions. His eyes showed relief but also confusion. "You're not afraid?"

"If you wanted to kill me you would already have done it by now." I said voicing my earlier thoughts. I turned away from him with a shrug and looked out the window. He nodded, but I don't think he was paying attention to what I said because he was deep in thought about something.

When we pulled into the parking lot of my apartment building, he seemed to make his mind up about something and he grabbed my hands, sending tingles up my arm.

"Do you know what mates are?" He asked suddenly

"They're like soul mates, right?" He nodded and took a deep breathe.

"Layla, I have been searching for my mate for a really long time, and today I found her. She is the most beautiful and amazing girl I have ever met. She makes me laugh which I probably haven't done in a hundred of years, and you want me to tell you the best part?"

"Sure," I said looking down so he wouldn't see the disappointment in my eyes. For some reason hearing him speak about another girl like this broke me. I put my hand on the door handle, ready to get out, but he lifted my face and cupped my cheeks.

"You are my mate," and with that he brought his face to mine and captured my lips with his own. As soon as our lips touched, the tingles turned into explosions, and I was in heaven.

Adrian's pov

The kiss was even more amazing than I thought it would be. The whole way to the apartment, I imagined kissing those lips. The ones that looked so unbelievably soft, and now I was.

When I first brought my lips to hers, I felt all the tingles explode into fireworks, and I wanted more contact with her. I pulled her into my lap, so she was straddling me and crushed her to my chest.

I could've kept kissing her forever. As our lips moved together, I couldn't help but think of how lucky I was to get this angelic masterpiece as my mate. Wanting to see her beautiful face again I pulled back.

She was breathing hard and it gave me immense pleasure seeing her checking me out again. Back in the alley, she thought I didn't notice, but I definitely did.

"Mates, huh?" I knew she was searching for something to say and I chuckled.

"Yeah. Feel the tingles?" I said trailing my hand down her cheek. She nodded and I continued. "They are indicators on who your mate is. If you feel tingles that means they are your mate."

"What do mates do exactly?" she asked.

"They love eachother, despite the others faults. They find the good in eachother and try to tame the bad. Mates are the most amazing things in the world, and I am so happy to finally have find mine." When I finished she had a blush across her cheeks.

"So we are supposed to love eachother?" she asked hesitantly, and I nodded.

"Layla, I already love you. You are the most perfect mate I could ask for. You're so beautiful and amazing. As soon as I found you, my life revolved around you. You are the most important thing in my life now. You are my everything and you are my world." With that I crashed my lips onto hers for the second time.
