Her Billionaire Husband

Chapter 1291

After leaving the hotel, Veronica Murphy dialed. Sean Ludwig’s number. ‘I know where Mia Stuart is. I can help you rescue her, but I’ll need some assistance in return.”

“Has Mia offended someone again and become a target for revenge?” Sean Ludwig asked. Considering Mia Stuart’s tendency for sharp remarks, it was likely that her kidnapping was a result of her offending someone and being manipulated.

Although Sean Ludwig didn’t particularly like Mia Stuart, he recognized her newfound fame and the potential benefits she could bring to the company. Therefore, her personal safety had to be taken into consideration.

“…In a way,” Veronica Murphy sighed almost imperceptibly. Though her voice was low, Sean Ludwig on the other end of the line heard it clearly. He furrowed his brow and raised his hand to tousle his short, golden hair. “Is Matthew Kings behind this?”

Based on recent events, Sean Ludwig made an educated guess.

His assumption was correct, and Veronica Murphy had no choice but to admit it. “It’s all because of her foolishness. She was manipulated by someone and remains oblivious.”

“What happened?”

Veronica Murphy proceeded to explain in detail what had transpired on the day of her accident on set. She then stated, “I plan to go and save Mia Stuart now. However, I need your people to accompany me in a ruse.”

“How should we proceed?” Sean Ludwig was unsure of Veronica Murphy’s plan, but he was willing to fully cooperate.

Over the phone, Veronica Murphy shared her plan with Sean Ludwig, who readily agreed and arranged for four individuals to assist her.

Once everyone was en route, Veronica Murphy dialed Matthew Kings’ number.

“Ring, ring, ring…”

The phone rang several times, but there was no answer. Just as she was about to redial, her phone buzzed, displaying Matthew Kings’ number on the screen. She promptly answered the call, “Matt?”

“Why are you still awake so late?” On the other end of the line, he spoke softly with concern, though his voice sounded somewhat fatigued.

Veronica Murphy didn’t beat around the bush and went straight to the point. I’m heading to Chestnut Hill.”

“Why are you going there?”

“Mia Stuart was taken there by your people.” She paused for a moment before continuing, “I’m taking a team to ‘rescue’ her. When you release Mia Stuart, try not to make it too obvious and cooperate with your people.”

“Why do we have to let her go?”

“She’s guilty…” Veronica Murphy wanted to say “Mia Stuart doesn’t deserve to die,” but if she said that, Matthew Kings might suspect that she believed Eviette Robins was the mastermind behind the kidnapping. So, she chose her words carefully and said, ‘She is an artist under Sean Ludwig’s command. I owed Sean Ludwig a favor in the past, so I consider this favor repaid.”

Although Matthew Kings didn’t understand the nature of the “favor” he could only nod and agree, “Alright, I will give the order.”

“Okay, thank you,” Veronica Murphy expressed her gratitude and promptly ended the call.

On the other end of the line, Matthew Kings. held his phone, his mouth slightly agape. Some words lingered on the tip of his tongue but were swallowed back. She had said, “thank you.”

For some reason, upon hearing those two words, Matthew Kings felt a sudden pang in his chest. Unbeknownst to him, it seemed as though the distance between them was gradually widening, becoming somewhat unfamiliar.

Veronica Murphy arranged for a few individuals to go to Lishan Slope and borrowed two cars from Sean Ludwig. Along the way, she provided instructions to the four individuals and then stopped halfway to wait for them.

The four individuals proceeded to Lishan Slope and located Mia Stuart in the dilapidated Kings Residence where she was being held captive.

They staged a fight with Matthew Kings’ four bodyguards and successfully rescued Mia Stuart.

Trembling all over, Mia Stuart’s face turned pale. With the support of the several accomplices, she got into the car and drove away.
