Hearts On Fire

Chapter 40:

Amaya: “Your eyes…they’re red again. So I managed to do it right? I managed to give you your powers back?”

Azar: “Please lay down and rest. We’ll talk later.”

Amaya: “But, Azar…I need to know. If I'm still alive, it means I failed. That I couldn't do the reversal spell right.”

Azar: “Do you think that's what I care about? You think I care about my powers? How could you do that?!”

Amaya: “They were never mine. I needed to give them back. I know you believe me and I know you know I didn't do it on purpose but no matter how or why…I stole them from you, I nearly killed you.”

Azar: “So what?! Look at me. I'm here, I'm still alive and what did you do?! You fucking sacrificed yourself!! for what? my powers?!”

Amaya: “Azar…I needed to do the right thing and the magic I used would’ve killed me either way. I don't even know how I'm still alive.”

Azar: “Do you know you were seconds away from death?! Fucking seconds, Amaya!! So why would I need my fire back? To burn the whole world to the ground before I end myself?! How could you even think that I'll be able to live without you?! How?! You wanted to take yourself away from me.”

Amaya: “I’m sorry.”

Azar: “Stop apologizing.”

Amaya: “I didn't wanna hurt you like this.”

Azar: “Then what were you thinking?! That I'll be able to move on without you?!”

Amaya: “Yes.”

Azar: “No, never!! I'm sorry for yelling. I almost lost you. Did you really wanna doom me to existence without you?”

Amaya: “I'm sorry. The spell was supposed to soothe the pain.”

Azar: “There’s no spell in this world that’ll be able to heal my broken heart. Why can't you see that you're the only thing I need? The only reason for me to be here.”

In Amaya’s head: I was certain that I was dying. I felt the darkness pulling me further and further away. Before everything went silent, I heard Azar’s screams. It broke me but I knew it was too late. There was nothing I could do anymore. The spell was casted and my sacrifice was done. All of a sudden when I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was his red eyes. Flames dancing inside of them like always. For a second I thought I was imagining things. Azar looked so broken. I've never seen him like this before. It wasn't supposed to be like this. His voice was shaking and when his lips touched mine, I felt like he was trembling. Like he is now when I place my hand on his chest. He was in so much pain. Will I ever manage to do something right? I don't know how I survived but here I am in front of my whole life. I thought I was doing the good thing but in fact, I caused him pain like never before.

Amaya: “Are you crying?”

Azar: “Yes. Of course I'm crying. I thought you were gone. I thought I lost you. If he didn't come, you would’ve been dead.”

Amaya: “Who?”

Azar: “I don't even know myself. A vampire with purple eyes gave you his blood and that's who saved you. The moment you drink a single drop your wound started healing. I still can't believe you sacrificed yourself like that. How are you feeling?”

Amaya: “Like nothing happened. I'm completely healed.”

Azar: “Promise me you'll never do something like that again.”

Amaya: “I promise. You need to know that I didn't know you were gonna find me. So much time had passed. I didn't even have any proof that you were still alive. Nash was constantly telling me how I killed you.”

Azar: “I was in a coma. I'm sorry I couldn't save you.”

Amaya: “You were in a coma?!”

Azar: “Please don't cry. We're together now and nothing can separate us anymore.”

Amaya: “I missed you so much.”

Azar: “Come here.”

Amaya: “Take us home, please.”

Azar: “Yes, doll. Just let me kiss you first. I love you.”

Amaya: “I love you more. (in the hallway)”

Man: “There's nothing to worry about, she's fine. I don't know if you have as good hearing as I do but I advise you not to enter the room. Give them privacy.”

Sammy: “We wouldn't be able to do anything without you. Thank you. We’ll never forget what you did for us today.”

Azrael: “What is going on?!”

Man: “Ah the hellhound. You're even more beautiful than what they're saying. You're the most peculiar family I've ever seen and I'm sure it'll stay that way. Unfortunately I need to go but I know for certain our paths will cross again.”

Azrael: “What the hell was the vampire king doing here?!”

Jessie: “Don't even get us started.”

Sammy: “He's our hero. The majesty is so dreamy. Oops.”

Azrael: “You can drool over him later, Sammy.”

Sammy: “Like you didn't blush when he looked at you.”

Azrael: “No please tell me everything. I can hear Azar and Amaya in the room so I know that they're both fine.”

Jessie: “Since my mate is still smitten by the vampire, I'll tell you. Long story short, we thought the elder witches could help us. We found them on the territory of the majesty. They told us the only way to give the powers back is by death. They didn't wanna come near Amaya because they were afraid she would take their magic. As siphoners are unpredictable and can be dangerous. So we asked for a favor to at least locate Amaya for us. Sam and I thought we'll find her and then deal with it later the witches did locate her. They saw her and Azar. They said the sacrifice was made and that Amaya was dying. We rushed here but the king was faster. Before we got here he was already able to heal Amaya with his blood.”

Azrael: “He truly is our savior.”

Fenrir: “Who? And why does it smell of a vampire?”

Sammy: “We’ll explain it later. What's important now is that both Amaya and Azar are safe and it sounds like we are gonna have grandchildren soon.”

Azrael: “About that. You're the first one to be grandparents. Miranda and Thorne are expecting a puppy.”

Sammy: “I'm gonna be a grandpa!! (everyone laughs - in the woods)”

Woman: “What was that?! Why did you do that?!”

Man: “And why not? I wanted to help.”

Woman: “You can't run around and give people your blood. Why would you save a siphoner?! I know what you're thinking. You need to stop torturing yourself. Mar…”

Man: “Don't even mention her name. (Azar’s bedroom)”

Amaya: “How do you like it? What is it? Why are you looking at me like that?”

Azar: “Your scar…it’s gone.”

Amaya: “How's that possible?!”

Azar: “Vampire blood. When he healed your wound, his blood must have healed it too.”

Amaya: “I can't believe it. You don't know how much it means to me. Now that my family is finally gone, there's nothing left of them. Not even that scar that I thought I'll have to carry my whole life. It was the last piece of them left with me. I'm finally free.”

Azar: “It’s over and what do you mean you're free? You're not free. You're mine. My mate and my wife. That's better. Bed, now.”

Amaya: “I think you'll have to carry me.”

Azar: “Oh really?”

In Amaya’s head: As he took me to bed, I closed my eyes in anticipation. Even though we had our moments earlier today, I was still craving him. It's the cravings that'll never stop. I could tell the conflict in him, trying to be gentle or release his full strength. I was assuring him that I'm fine and I'm not going anywhere. It was time for him to once again show me how much he missed me and needed me. But this time without holding back. He needed to show his possessiveness over me and he took my arms and pinned them above my head. Holding me in place and I loved every second of it. I could feel his eyes bore my soul as his hot breath was brushing over my lips. His caresses made me lose myself in my love for him and forget the past months of torture and agony. He didn't ask and I'm grateful for it. There’ll never be enough time for talking. The important thing is that we're finally together. That the storm is behind us and nothing can separate us. Looks like I'm getting my happy ending after all.

In Azar’s head: I knew Amaya suffered more than me but I knew she wasn't ready to talk about it so I didn't ask anything. She craved me as much as I craved her and that's the only thing that matters. We’re united again and that's how it'll stay for the rest of our lives. I didn't expect this outcome after what was happening only a few hours earlier but we made it. Now it was the time for me to show her all my love. God how much I missed her delicate skin and her scent. Both Blaise and I were eager to take our mate again. The mark I made when she was dying was fading and I couldn't allow that.

Azar: “Time to mark you again, my little flame.”

Blaise: “MINE!!”

In Amaya’s head: With his dominant, alpha voice, he said those words. It was both a whisper and a growl at the same time and it sent shivers down my spine. I knew there was no chance for me to take his fire again as I casted the spell rejecting any of his powers so I was more than ready to proudly carry his mark on my neck. Azar gently planted kisses before he pierced his canines in my neck. I'm his.
