He Wants Me Back After the Divorce by Little Mermaid

Chapter 18

Chapter 18 Get Celia to Me

Celia said softly, “If that’s why you’re going to talk about, you can stop talking. Now that I’ve divorced him, I have no intention of getting back together with him.”

Grace tightened her grip on her phone. “But what if you do

do?”

“What does that have to do with you?” Celia replied coldly before hanging up dismissively.

She didn’t want to waste any more energy on talking to Grace.

Celia had no romantic interest in Dominic, but she simply didn’t want to let Grace get her way.

“Who does she think she is to tell me what to do?” Celia thought to herself.

Grace was fuming after Celia hung up the phone. She turned around in shock to see a man standing directly behind her.

“Dominic, why didn’t you tell me you were coming?” Grace stammered.

Dominic’s gaze intensified as he asked, “You called her?”

He saw the caller ID on Grace’s phone screen and recognized Celia’s voice on the other end of the line.

Flustered, Grace attempted to explain, “I just care about you so much that I…”

Dominic cut her off abruptly, “Stay out of my business. Maybe you should focus on yourself.”

Grace’s pupils dilate with shock. Desperately trying to reach for his hand, she pleaded, “You promised me that you would take care of me for the rest of my life.”

Dominic evaded her touch. “Yes, I did say that. I put up with your nonsense for at long time.

Grace tried to smile but couldn’t stop the tears from falling. “At least I gave birth to Daniel for you, Dominic. I genuinely love you, so please don’t blame me.”

“Stop meddling in Celia’s affairs.”

Grace understood that it was his firm boundary. She repeatedly promised that she would never do it again, appearing pitiful.

Dominic’s eyes showed no sympathy. All he could think about was Celia, the woman who had shown him such kindness years before.

He was angry at himself for still thinking about Celia.

He clearly heard what Celia had just said on the phone.

“Does she still have feelings for me? Is she still not over me?” He thought to himself.

Celia would probably roll her eyes and ignore him if she were here.

Just then, the lights went out in the hospital’s emergency room.

Celia had just finished one surgery when she was informed of another urgent

case.

“Dr. Lynn, I’m sorry, but this patient is in critical condition and needs immediate surgery. Can you perform the operation tomorrow morning?”

The doctors and nurses nearby wore concerned expressions. “Perhaps it’s better to let other doctors handle this patient first. Dr. Lynn hasn’t had proper rest for several days, she must be very tired.”

“Give me the patient’s medical records,” Celia said.

When it came to her patients, she was always one step ahead, doing whatever it took to keep them alive. She decided she could handle another operation.

–

However, after opening the file, the patient’s name caught her eye ‘Arthur Dawson.”

Celia was hesitant to proceed with the operation.

Arthur Dawson was a member of the Dawson family.

Celia furrowed her brows slightly. The only people aware of her past marriage to Dominic were the Dawsons and the Burtons, which included Arthur.

Unfortunately, Arthur was the worst member of the Dawson family for her. When she first moved in with the Dawsons, he was a major source of irritation. and caused her a lot of trouble.

Celia was reluctant to perform surgery on this horrible

person.

Upon reading the case, Celia realized that Arthur had cardiovascular disease and wasn’t in good condition.

“Dr. Lynn, you are highly regarded in the field of heart surgery, and the patient’s condition is critical. If you were to perform the operation, there is hope for his recovery,” the doctor said.

Celia set aside the medical chart and replied, “I will proceed with the surgery as long as the patient agrees to let me do it.”

She was curious to see if arrogant Arthur would let her operate on him.

Celia could feel the admiration from the doctors and nurses around her as they whispered, “Dr. Lynn is really amazing. Wow, she actually said yes!”

“Dr. Lynn has a 100% success rate in his operating rooms. I’ve never seen one of her operations go wrong.”

Celia was accustomed to receiving such compliments. After responding casually to a few, she returned to the rest area to take a break and checked the texts on her mobile phone.

Most of the texts were from Tammy and Chelsea, expressing their concern for her well–being. Celia had entrusted Tammy’s care to Chelsea recently. After an exhausting day, receiving messages like these brought comfort to Celia.

Celia looked down, smiled, and scrolled to read the texts Chelsea mentioned Dominic in one of her texts.

Chelsea texted Celia, “Breaking news! Dominic took Grace to a charity auction and auctioned off a necklace worth one hundred million dollars for her. OMG! That’s one hundred million dollars dollars. How many lifetimes of wealth is that for an average family?”

Celia pondered for a moment before replying, “About a hundred lifetimes?”

Chelsea retorted, “That’s not the point! The point is that Dominic treats Grace exceptionally well. Despite not marrying her, his affection for her knows no bounds.”

However, Celia wasn’t particularly interested in this information. She had known about it for quite some time, so she didn’t deem it worthy of discussion.

Chelsea continued, “I’ve heard that Dominic treats Grace well, but he was distant. towards his ex–wife. The fact that she chose to leave him shows that she is a sensible woman. Perhaps she feels like an outsider in his life.”

Celia could empathize with that sentiment, although that wasn’t the sole reason

she left him.

Chapter 18 Get Celia to Me

She and Dominic hadn’t spoken or had any contact in a long time at that point. However, she reasoned that it would be best to avoid unnecessary bother.

Celia’s phone rang again from an unknown number just as she was thinking about Dominic.

Celia thought the number sounded familiar. She stared at the screen for a while before she realized it was Dominic’s number and hung up.

Her phone’s screen lit up again shortly after.

Celia didn’t bother to ask Dominic why he was calling so abruptly before she quickly turned it off and closed her eyes to get some shut–eye.

Knowing he would likely say something weird to her again, Celia decided to avoid answering his call.

After a long and exhausting day, Celia drifted off into a deep sleep.

The following morning, she awoke to find it was already early.

The doctor who had asked her to perform the surgery the night before surprised her by telling her that the patient had agreed to let her do it.

Celia hurriedly prepared herself and promptly entered the operating room for the scheduled early–morning surgery.

Arthur, a man in his fifties with a serious demeanor, outwardly appeared to be a businessman. However, Celia was aware of his cunning nature behind the scenes. and his past attempts to cause trouble for Dominic. At some point, Arthur saw Dominic’s capability and decided to rely on him.

Choosing to side with the powerful was common for many, and Celia understood this. However, it infuriated her that Arthur once used her as a pawn. to challenge Dominic’s authority.

Nonetheless, Celia knew there were many other ways she could have dealt with Arthur, so she chose not to do anything that went against her professional ethics..

Since Arthur chose her to save his life, she was determined to give it her all.

The surgery turned out to be a resounding success.

Celia wiped away the sweat from her brow after she left the room.

In the afternoon, Celia took a break and grabbed a meal before continuing to review Arthur’s medical records.

However, as she approached the door, she stopped dead in her tracks upon hearing the voice of a weak yet arrogant middle–aged man from inside the

room.

“You can’t even peel an apple? Did Celia sent you here? Are you intentionally trying to make things difficult for me?” the man sneered.

The nurse, feeling helpless, cried out, “No, Mr. Dawson, I was assigned to take care of you by the hospital. I assure you, I have done my best.”

“Shut up!” the man’s voice interrupted sharply, followed by the sound of objects being thrown to the floor. Arthur, in his anger, cursed, “Bring Celia here! I want to know how she dares to mistreat me like this. How dare she asked some

incompetent garbage to be here?”
