Chapter 14
Be like Jace…lift someone up today
I felt a blush crawl up my skin. “Does it really matter what she’s here for? Her family owns half the building, she can come in anytime. But she said something about an article. So she might be having an interview.” I divulged defensively.
“When did she mention an article?” I imagined he was wracking his brain for what part of the dinner party she had mentioned it.
1 saw her an hour or two ago.”
“Well you shouldn’t have a problem seeing her now.” He concluded and tried to tug me again.
“Adams…”
“Are you avoiding her?”
“No” I lied.
“Then give me one good reason you don’t want to be near her.”
Because when she’s near all I can think of is the fact that while Pierce was with me, he was probably thinking of her. “Fine. Just let me grab my stuff first. After your little adventure, I can go home.”
Hopefully the time it took to grab my bag and fix my hair and makeup, she would be long gone.
Of course I had no such luck. Tami was still in the studio, surrounded by attentive listeners and Sarah at her side like a proud peacock.
“I think this movie has the potential to make it big this year, you guys are amazing. If my parents wouldn’t throw a fit about me failing at my job, I would love to work with you all. You make it look so easy.”
Their faces lit up with wider smiles and a warm blush spread across the cheeks of a few. Tami was a natural charmer, much like Adams. Too bad her charm was saved for everyone but me.
“I could use some of that confidence for my interview with Montgomery, I feel very on edge right now.” She put on a nervous expression and twisted her hands in her lap.
“I think you’ll do great, Tami.” One of her supporters offered kindly, while placing her hand on her shoulder.
“You really think so? I mean Pierce had the better part of today telling me that, but you know…I can’t be sure he’s not just saying it because he likes me.”
Some of the ladies giggled after her admission and I looked away from the scene.
“Monty’s a sweetheart by the way, forget the rough exterior. I bet he’ll take it easy on you.”
“I hope so. I’m just here to get Sarah, for extra moral support. And yes, Pierce might have left work to be here if I need anything but I could always use a little extra boost. Speaking of Pierce, Sarah I think we should go now, I don’t want him storming through the building in search of me. Are you ready?”
“Course I am babe. Sarah uttered with a sense of superiority, pleased with the fact that she would be associated with the girlfriend of Pierce Blackwood. Both of them and a few of their admirers trickled out

of the set.
“So are we going there or what?” Jace suddenly asked beside Adams, his voice startling Adams.
“Jesus Christ man!” Adams cursed. “Go where?”
“Where else? To watch the interview.”
“Half the cast is on their way there already. If we want to secure a good spot we gotta move now.”
I
Adams‘ eyes settled on mine as if I was the determining factor for if we should go.
“Oh don’t act like you don’t want to know what Tami Baker sounds like on air. Time to put an end to the mystery of Pierce’s mystery lady.”
Jace had a point. This was as good a time as any to learn something new about Tami
“Lead the way daddy longlegs.” My arms were still with Adams and I pulled him along.
Jace waited and walked on my side. “Very funny Myra, I guess miracles happen, look at you having a sense of humor, I swear sometimes it felt like Jace could do with a good tap on the back of his head. “It looks like Sarah took your advice to move up.”
“What do you mean?” Right. Adams had missed the interview and the drama between Sarah and me.
Jace forever fucking helpful brought him up to speed….she then told Sarah to stop fucking Lancaster and find bigger fish to fry. Advice successfully taken. Although I don’t think Tami’s her type, if you know what I mean.
“Friendships can be just as beneficial.” I butted in. I understood what Sarah stood to gain. What would Tami gain?
“It would be very interesting if she’s trying to use Tami to get to Pierce. A fine double cross.” When Jace saw our stunned expressions fixed on him, he shrugged. “I am an actor. I spend eighty percent of my day acting out someone’s cooked up stories. What do you expect?”
“For you to not jump into wild conclusions. Besides, Sarah isn’t his type.” I could feel Adams‘ eyes on me
but I acted like I did not notice.
Ch we definitely know his type.” Jace was less subtle than Adams. I rolled my eyes. “I’d just like to say, I know at this point the rumor could be false….but if you are running something private with Pierce you might have to be careful now. Tami looks like a crazy one.
“Shut up, man.” Adams groaned, avoiding looking in my general direction, Jace shrugged. “I didn’t think the rumors were true by the way.” Adams added, low enough for Jace to miss, or ignore…I smiled up at him.
“Just wondering. Jace, what do you do for the remaining twenty percent of your life? When you’re not acting cooked up stories and working on your fanfic reality show,” I questioned, hoping to divert the conversation from Pierce and his possible dating life.
“You know me Myra, I spend it bent over someone, or lifting someone, or pulling back the hair of
someone or…
Adams groaned. “You just had to ask.”
Be the Jace. If someone up Today
He dolled out the activities he carried out for the twenty percent till we joined the rest of the people that were present to watch Tami’s interview. Her voice rang clear throughout the room.
“There.” My eyes followed the direction his thumb was pointing in. There was a corner that had less people standing there.
Adams moved me to the middle and with Jace as the lead, forced their way through the throng.
When we finally stopped, I realized why there were less people there. The view of Tami wasn’t the best but Atleast we could still hear her clearly.
She let out a honeyed laugh at something Monty said. “You’re absolutely right. But I have to be honest, there’s no place quite like home, so I’m glad to be back”
“Glad to have you back Miss Baker. How has assimilating into your role as ambassador been so far?”
