The clock on the mantel chimed midnight, yanking him from his concentration. He sighed and stretched, his back aching from a day spent in front of his laptop. The only light coming into the room was the moon, which was nearly full. A smile touched his lips, a memory of his daughter dressing up in a wolf costume for the Founders Festival and howling at the cardboard moon hung at the entrance gate. He wished he could've kept that picture of her.
He stretched his neck and blew out another breath, chasing away the memory. His computer dinged with a new email.
To: [email protected] From: undisclosed sender Somerset, Fletcher has been terminated. You've been reassigned. Meet me tomorrow 13:00 hours.
