GOLDEN BLOOD

Chapter DARKNESS

After finding Kevin and killing him savagely, Alexander was exhausted. He’d left little to no strength or energy in him.

Terence found his Master unconscious, his half-body buried in hot burnings and, his skin chafed and scaled from the searing Sun. Terence got him home and fed him bags of Paris blood. Thank goodness there were a few bags left in the fridge.

A few hours later Alexander regained consciousness, his body was still sore; his head pounding.

“Paris...” he murmured. The memory of her dying in his arms flashed in vivid details and blistered badly in his mind. He felt the pain of their separation and the emptiness.

The ache swelled. The large sharp pain began to intensify—so intense, that he felt a hole tearing and began to crush his already broken heart. His insides twisted to the torsion point and he screamed.

He unceremoniously lost the love of his life—a betrayal, so deep. A piercing pain left his mouth ripped from the depths of his heart, and echoed in the silence. Even Terence felt the pillars of the mansion tremble.

'What did I do so wrong... that I'm being punished?'

'You gave me life, and I couldn’t save yours. I deserved to die. I want to die today, I want to die. I can't live like this without you.'

'What should I do now? What would I do without you Paris?'

'I’d just found love, so why was she taken away from me so brutally? Why was there a separation in my fate? Why have I received such a punishment?'

’For centuries I’ve been living alone... I’ve lived my life solely, but now, I’ve to learn to live without you... And it’s so damn difficult the cruel pain reminds me of you, and it’s getting out of control. Every second it’s becoming difficult to live without you. I can’t bear this grief any longer, it’s getting tough... I need you, I need you, Paris. I’m calling upon you... Can you hear me...?′

The struggle against the pain was only growing invasively. Clutching at his aching heart, Alexander was grieving sorely.

She was dead. She left him in the vast empty darkness of the night, alone, as he had always been alone.

He considered leaving the Mansion, indeed, he could not stay here now, could not live in this room where Paris had slept on the same bed he was in. It was painful.

The wound was now rooted into his heart forever. Which was putting him off balance for everything he was—invincible.

The bitterness of pain throbbing in his heart was too much for his human form; he couldn’t handle this kind of suffering. With the pain getting sharper he wondered if there would ever be an end to it.

Incapable of keeping the grief away, in the selfishness of his misery, he abandoned his place and left.

Terence went after him. He paused for a moment outside of the cave and looked inside the hollow of darkness before walking through the narrow passageway.

Terence gulped. Inside, the hole was all black and void.

“Master!” He shouted in the hollow den, and the storm of bats flew frantically, flapping their wings. They chirped and squealed with high-pitched sounds on the disturbance of their peaceful roosting.

These hideous-looking creatures could slither through prey if a stranger tried to invade their home. Terence was well aware of it, and so he didn’t dare to step any further than he was.

Amidst all this wild shrill noise, Terence called his master again. Then came a loud growl. Even Terence felt the power behind the roar. All the commotion slowly went to a quiet hush.

“Why are you here?” Alexander spoke, he remained inside the cave and never came out in the light.

“I’m here to take you, Master. Please come back home.”

“Go away, Terence, I don’t need you anymore. I’m going to live here from now on.”

“What shall I do without you, Master?”

“You’re free. Go live your own life.” He tore his clothes and morphed his human form into a small mammal. He stretched open his wings.

“Mas-” Terence tried to step in lightly, as he could sense that Dracula had no intention to compromise, but he’d already vanished into the depths of the cave and chose to hunker down to hibernate.

Bats can survive for long periods of time without food., as for him without blood.

Terence heart sunk heavily in his chest and dipped his head low. Disappointed, he too vanished from sight.

The Dracula locked himself in the caves of darkness forever, to live on with Paris’s memories—and wishing for a slow death to consume him.

~xXx~
