Chapter 43
Chapter 43
I opened Ruben’s Timeline. The background picture of his Timeline was a photo of him and Emilia. Under the blue sky and white clouds, the two of them held hands and smiled foolishly and happily at the
camera.
“Do you know this girl?” I asked, staring at Tristan without blinking, trying to see his reaction.
Tristan looked at the photo for a few seconds. There was a hint of something unusual in his eyes, but it wasn’t the kind of love–at–first- sight, stunning gaze.
“I didn’t know her. But her boyfriend was Ruben,” Tristan’s attention was on Ruben.
I hesitated for a moment. Although photos cannot compare to the liveliness of real people, in the previous life, Tristan’s craziness for Emilia was no less than Frederic’s. Even if it was just her photo, it should have touched him in some way, right?
Did Tristan fall in love with Emilia only in their later interactions?
I regretted it a bit. If I had known, I should have asked more questions when we were cooperating. In this way, I wouldn’t be so confused now.
“Right.” I adjusted my mindset. Then I continued somewhat helplessly, “Did Frederic tell you that this woman is the college student he’s pursuing?”
“I only knew about this woman, I didn’t know anything else,” Tristan’s eyes darkened. “How did you find out?”
He felt that even, though I heard a few words of their conversation at the coffee house that day, I shouldn’t have been so clear about this
matter.
I answered, “Because they had a fight yesterday and broke up, and I went to persuade them. The girl’s name is Emilia, she is a sophomore music student at Aroma University. She doesn’t know about my relationship with Frederic.”
Tristan wanted to ask me something else, but he saw out of the corner of his eye that the others had returned, so he had to give up.
I was very tactful. I got up and said, “Let’s have dinner together tonight. I can tell you a lot of things.
“Okay, you set the time and place,” Tristan replied simply.
When I turned around and left, I heard his colleague teasing him, “Dr. Shelton, are you finally in love? Are you going on a date tonight?”
I didn’t hear Tristan’s answer clearly.
Finally, I decided to have dinner at Breeze Café, which was the same coffee house that Greta took us to last time. It was filled with the aroma of coffee and was perfect for discussing business.
In the evening, Tristan arrived as promised.
I never went home at all but slept directly in the private room. When he came, I was still taking a nap.
“Hey, wake up,” Tristan tapped my face.
I woke up and stretched lazily. Then smiled apologetically at Tristan and said, “Sorry, my sleeping posture is not very good.”
Tristan seemed to have curled his lips and sat down at the coffee table.
After the waiter came in and made coffee for us, I asked her to leave and then started discussing business with Tristan.
From the moment I met Emilia at the coffee shop, then bumped into Ruben, and all the way to becoming friends with them, I told Tristan about everything and exclaimed, “What a coincidence. I never thought Frederic would fall for her.“—
“So, the current situation is that you know the relationship between Frederic, Emilia, and Ruben, but they don’t know your identity?” Tristan summarized.
“Uh–huh,” I nodded.
“Why didn’t you just confront Frederic directly?” Tristan asked, staring
at me.
“Don’t you know Frederic?” I asked in return. “What’s the use of me confronting him? Will he give up Emilia because of me? No, he won’t. Even if I try my best to oppose and stop him, I can’t win back his heart. He has never liked me. He has never loved me. What can I compare with his lover?”
As I was speaking, I became excited The feeling of despair and unwillingness from my previous life swept over me.
Tristan looked a bit surprised. After all, Frederic had been involved in so many scandals with so many women before, and I had never been this excited. Of course, Tristan didn’t know what would happen in the future.
