Chapter 32
After a few minutes, Ruben called nervously. “Sylvia, why did you give me money? I can earn my tuition.”
“You’re a student. Focus on school. What if you fail exams and can’t graduate?” I lay on the bed and said in a lazy voice, “Aroma University is good. Don’t waste your time on endless part–time jobs. Focus on school, and you will have a bright future. You can pay me back after graduation.”
“I…” Ruben had a lump in his throat
felt sorry for him and also felt that I was crafty to take advantage of such an innocent boy. Ruben thought that I was kind and nice. However, I had my purpose.
With Ruben’s background, he had to work harder to be admitted to Aroma University and make a living in Aroma City. Without considering Emilia, I just appreciated this kind of person.
“Tell me if you need money. I finance your education. Pay me back when you graduate. If you still feel sorry, just repay me more,” I said.
This sum of money was nothing to me, but it could make me feel better and help Ruben. This was a win–win
There must be no other way for Ruben. Otherwise, he couldn’t do a part–time job before school started.
Ruben received the money when he hung up. He texted: “Sylvia, thank you. I will pay you back!”
I didn’t text back but went to sleep.

I got up early the next morning. I was well–dressed in an elegant white dress. The light makeup made me look good. I took my cello. Marcel drove me to Aroma University.
I had mixed feelings when I went back to campus. Looking at those energetic freshmen, I recalled my first day at school as if it were yesterday.
I was quite excited at that time. At the thought of being admitted to the university Frederic stayed at, I felt more excited than winning one million dollars.
I walked along the route from my memory to the concert hall. This was where all of the Department of Music would pass. Surrounded by transparent floor–to–ceiling glass, there was a stepped performance stage in the middle.
There were 52 alumni here to perform the classic waltz—The Blue Danube.
The stage was well arranged. We sat in the designated chair. Without practice and rehearsals, whether this would be a good performance or not totally depended on our cooperation.

All performers graduated from Aroma University. Though having been polished by society, one wouldn’t show up here without strong ability.
As the beautiful melody sounded, I felt the enthusiasm in the music and felt relaxed.
As more and more students gathered to watch, this temporary orchestra was encouraged and played several classic songs in a row until noon.
The applause encouraged me. When my eyes swept the audience, I saw Ruben who stared at me with bright eyes. He was a little shy but kindly waved at me.
I smiled and nodded at him. After the show, I walked towards him and said, “Hello, Ruben.”
“Sylvia, you can play the cello! You did surprise me!” Ruben complimented me.
“My major is cello.” I carried the cello and talked with Ruben while walking. In this environment, I felt that I went back to college.
“Girls good at music are all attractive” The injuries on Ruben’s face almost healed, but a scar was left on the corner of his mouth. He wore a short–sleeved sports suit. He looked quite energetic and bright. His
words confused me.
