Chapter 16
Chapter 16
It was Evie Guzman, Frederic’s mother. Her voice sounded outside. “Frederic, Syl, are you guys asleep?”
Frederic immediately stuffed the papers under the quilt and then went to open the door. “Mom, what are you doing up? It is so late.”
“Well, I’m just getting ready to go to bed and see that your light is on. So, I want to know if you are asleep.” Evie said to Frederic at the door.
“Hey, Evie!” I removed my mask and went to the door, pretending to be devoted to Frederic. “Frederic and I are getting ready for bed.”
While saying this, I even took Frederic’s arm and sweetly snuggled up against his shoulder.
Frederic glanced at me calmly and didn’t say anything.
“It’s very late. Your father is going to attend a business meeting the day after tomorrow. So, we temporarily came to Aroma City. We didn’t want to go to a hotel and will stay here for a few days,” Evie said to me with a smile.
Evie and Ernie Hudson, Frederic’s father, were usually in Crocus City, but the two cities were not too far apart.
I put on a bright smile. “That’s great! It has been a long time since I’ve seen you and Ernie. I’ll take you guys to have fun these days.”
“Great! Then take a good rest first. Good night.” Evie said goodnight to Frederic and I before turning to leave
In my last life, I always had a misconception that Frederic always did
as he pleased and rarely listened to his family. So, I had just tried to please him, thinking that as long as he fell in love with me, no one else in the Hudson family mattered.
Later, when I saw him trying hard to get the approval and blessing of the Hudson family for Emilia, I realized that he valued his family very much.
If I had had a good relationship with Evie and Ernie, or if I had been pregnant, maybe I would not have been the loser in my last life.
Closing the door, I heaved a sigh of relief, and Frederic and I had nothing to say.
“Would you like to take the bed or the couch?” I began to worry about this.
Frederic casually lay down on the bed and replied, “No need. Nothing will happen even if we share a bed.
I had to admit that Frederic always knew how to hurt me.
“Alright.” I didn’t say anything and just slept on the other side.
This was the second time Frederic and I had shared a bed since we got married. The first time was on our wedding night, and he didn’t touch
- me.
We lay back to back, as if the other one was not here.
After a while, I said, “Do you know Tristan’s Line or cell phone number?”
Frederic didn’t say anything. I turned around and looked at the back of his head. Was he asleep?
“I just want to scold him,” I added.
“I have done it.” Frederic’s cold voice sounded, and his reply was brief.
I had to close my eyes again and tried to fall asleep. At this time, a muffled thunder sounded outside the window. It should be raining
soon.
With a burst of thunder, I clutched and yanked the covers violently, covering myself.
The thunder was loud, but it couldn’t cover Frederic’s angry voice. “Sylvia!”
