Chapter 46
Adella Arcos - POV
I was walking around the busy town, window shopping when the timer on my phone went off. I looked at the time to see that it was seven already. I Wandered to the florist shop in our pack. When I entered, it was fairly crowded today, but I didn't see anyone odd in this group. “Excuse me?” I turned around to see a salesgirl with a smile on her face. “Can I help you with what you are looking for?” she offered, but I shook my head.
“No, that's all right. I am here to meet someone.” I answered, and a slight frown appeared on her face.
“Oh, are you Adella?” she asked me, and I nodded my head while I was confused as to how she knew my name. “Please come with me, I will give you the parcel,” she said and walked toward the cashier, and I followed her. She gave me a gift box along with five roses all in different shades.
“Thank you,” I told her before I walked out of that place. I was expecting to meet a person.
“Shall we open and see what is in there?” Rachel asked me, but I shook my head.
“Let's go home and see,” I said and quickened my pace. When I arrived, I quickly locked the front door and made my way to the coffee table. After placing the roses in a vase filled with water, I began unwrapping the gift box.
This time, the pictures were facing down, but there were only three of them. I took it and slowly turned it around. My heart came to a screeching halt when I saw the picture.
No, this can't be true!
My hands began to tremble while I placed the first picture on the coffee table and took the second one, but this picture was more heartbreaking to see than the first one. It was of Jose and another woman. The first one was of Jose proposing to that woman in the very restaurant that Summer and I went to for breakfast.
But the second picture was of them standing near the beautiful mountain view in each other’s arms and sharing a kiss. I felt my throat tighten while salty tears rolled down my eyes. I didn't have the strength to look at the third picture, but my curiosity made me take that.
This picture was taken at a different place, more like a pack where they were sitting inside a bakery eating cake. I tried to connect with my Wolf, but she had completely deserted me, I do understand what she must be going through right now.
My legs couldn't hold me up any longer, which made me collapse onto the ground. How can he even think about doing this to me?
Was this why he never really wanted to spend time with me?
A lot of questions kept flooding my mind, and I didn't have the answers to any of them. Looking around my house, I hated it for the first time because wherever I looked, memories of Jose kept popping back.
Ping.
I took my phone and saw that it was a message from Jose. I ignored it and dialed Summer’s number. “Hello! Do you want to do a girl’s night out now?” she asked me.
“Can you come to my house, Summer?” I asked her, my voice sounding hoarse, and I knew that she must have realized that too.
“I will be there in five minutes,” she said before she disconnected the call. I remained seated on the spot, looking at the three pictures spread out on the coffee table.
Knock knock.
I heard someone knock on the door, but I didn't have the energy to go and open it. A couple of moments later, the door opened and Summer rushed towards my side and pulled me into a hug. “Adella.” she kept repeating my name, but I didn't speak.
“How can Jose do this to me, Summer?” I mumbled while her hands around me only tightened.
“It's not worth crying over him, Adella.” Summer said while I kept quiet. “I also want to tell you something.” Summer began, which made me pull away from her.
“You knew about this?” I asked her casually, and her eyes slightly widened in surprise.
“I only knew it when I saw the picture frame at the restaurant, Adella. And when we came back home, I confronted Jose about this, but then.” she paused, looking at me. “I gave him time to correct his mistake because I didn't want to spoil your life.”
“I understand what you were trying to do, Summer. And the moment I saw this picture, I put the pieces together. Your behavior was completely different these last few days. And I will not blame you for anything.” I said before I leaned back on the sofa and looked up at the ceiling. We remained that way for hours when I finally pulled back.
“I don't want to stay in here anymore, Summer,” I said out loud.
“Where do you want to go?”
“Somewhere far away from here. Will you help me?” I asked her, and she nodded her head after a long time.
“When do you want to leave?” she asked me, and I looked up at the time.
“Right now,” I said, and even though she wanted to object, she nodded her head.
“I can help you with that, but before that, we will have to inform Alpha Ralph also.” Summer explained, and I nodded my head.
“I don't mind, as long as I get to leave this place as soon as I can,” I said. A sad glow appeared on her face.
“If you go now, you will not be there for my baby shower?” her eyes shone with tears, which made me pull her into a hug.
“I will call and text you frequently, Summer. And maybe come to visit you later, too.”
Ping.
My phone vibrated yet again, and this time, Summer took my phone and read the message. She looked at me with shock. “What is it?” I asked her.
“Jose is coming back tomorrow, and he said that he would like to meet you at your place.”
