Chapter Rooftop (1)
Friday night. Another week down. I was really excited for the weekend. Tonight we were going clubbing in the city. It was going to be Skylark, Olive and Baylor. A girls night on the town for Sky’s birthday. Off course Andrew would be shadowing us and he had been giving me shit about it all week.
He glanced at my outfit. I was wearing a short lavender dress with white sneakers and had my hair extra curly today. A white jacket draped over my arm. It was starting to feel a lot colder these days.
‘Ready for the fruity drinks.’ he dryly declared as if that was the entire spiel of the night.
’Well, you don’t have to drink them.’ I sneered.
‘Thank fuck for that.’
He was in a mood so we had been bickering a lot more than usual today.
‘Andrew, you don’t have to go.’
’Like fuck I don’t princess. If I don’t go, you don’t go. I’m not letting you get drunk and dance in one of those Rios clubs without backup. Dominic probably knows about you and Vincent. He’s likely to murder you for that alone.’
He can come and murder me in my bedroom anytime, I thought.
But Andrew didn’t need to know that.
‘Yeah, well. I will not drink fruity drinks. Deal?’
‘You can drink whatever the fuck you want Lux.’ Okay mister grumpy pants. He had been cranky since last night. I understood though. Sebastian had stayed over and we had been…. Really loud. He had busted through our door, while I was on top of Sebastian with little to no clothes on. It had been awkward and he had given me the dead stare for a few seconds too long. Sebastian hadn’t even noticed.
I entered the club, Andrew on my heels. I had never been here before but it was packing. R&B music playing and lots of people dancing their night away. I also saw lots of dark corners where people were doing some questionable things. I texted Sky but she hadn’t answered me yet.
Andrew leaned in. ‘Remember, my eyes will be on you at all times. Don’t accept any drinks. Stay out of trouble.’ He guided me towards the bar and sat down on a chair. He was now at eye level with me. ‘Hey…’ he made me look at him again. ‘You understood me?’ his thumb grazing my cheek softly. ‘Yes sir.’ I teased. ‘Don’t be a fucking brat tonight, princess.’ He already knew what time it was. I was feeling cheeky.
‘Sure.’ I drawled.
The bartender leaned over. ‘A Maverick please.’ The drink that he had made me that night of Sebastian’s party. His eyebrows raised up. ‘Not too strong.’ He said to the guy and gave him his bone crusher look.
‘Don’t be such a downer.’ I sighed dramatically.
He grabbed me closer and I gasped from the sudden contact. ‘You are listening to me tonight, alright?’ I nodded. Goosebumps pebbling on my arms from being this close to him and for being the subject of his Alpha tone. His arms were now on my waist. Holding me close. Eyes scanning my face and a serious expression on them. He then scanned the crowd. I swallowed.
‘One Maverick.’ The bartender placed the glass down. I took the glass and Andrew took it from my hands. Sipping from it first, while looking me dead in my eyes.
He nodded. ‘All good.’ I sipped from it next and he tracked my lips with hooded eyes. Hands tightening around my lower back.
My Telvice beeped and both of us flinched. Moment broken. ‘They are at the upstairs bar.’ I coughed because the drink had gone down the wrong tube.
Without speaking he guided me through the crowd, walking first. Ours hands entwined, so we would not lose sight of each other. His callused palm swallowed mine, but it felt nice and warm to hold his. Many people were ogling us. I stepped closer, put my hand on his back and whisper shouted over the loud music. ‘They are sure staring at us alright.’ He glanced behind his shoulder. ‘Not at me they aren’t.’ ‘What a Paramore does to your status…’ I sighed.
’Yeah, because that’s why they are staring.’ He muttered or I thought he had muttered. I’m not sure I heard that right.
We got upstairs, the terrace had the same booming music but with the chilled night air and the views of the city it was quite a sight. The girls were seated at the edge on a high top table. Sipping from pink cocktails. I spotted a yellow dress on Olive, which complimented her green hair nicely. Skylark was wearing all black, her white hair standing out intensely. Baylor was in a simple green dress. I grinned at them and glanced upwards at Andrew who was still holding my hand by the way. His dimple popped.
‘Lulu! Andrew!’ Skylark greeted us both. ‘Sit down.’ They took an extra chair for Andrew. ‘Here…’
‘That’s not really necessary.’ He dryly added and put himself in the staring stance against the glass railing. Scanning the crowd again. All girls just stared at him. Skylark sighed. ‘Oh he is so good looking.’
I slapped her arm. ‘He is standing right there you now.’ By the way his mouth tilted up, he had heard that.
