Chapter 7: Galactic Becomes a Woman
Two months later:
John: “How are you and what’s going on?”
Galactic: “I’m ecstatic because I’m officially a woman.”
John: “Congratulations. Do you feel different?”
Galactic: “Yes, very different. I almost feel human. My boyfriend and I have been intimate, and it’s been great. I have sensation in that area though the feelings aren’t as intense as when I was a human. Synthetic organs and nerves work but not as well as the real thing. I’m not complaining though. I feel like a school girl in love for the first time.”
John: “You seem different; much happier. What else would you like to tell me?”
Galactic: “I’m still teaching but I have a new part time job. I’ll be working for the FBI trying to catch fugitives that are on the run.”
John: “That’s interesting. Why did they choose you?”
Galactic: “The FBI has been informed about all the superhumans in this country; twenty in total, and they’re aware of our capabilities. If a fugitive is running from the police, they may not catch him, but they won’t get away from me. As you know, I can fly at almost the speed of light, run one hundred miles in five minutes, travel in outer space indefinitely, learn faster than any human, etc. I’m volunteering. Catching a criminal will be my remuneration.”
John: “That sounds most interesting. Did you get your first assignment?”
Galactic: “Yes, and I start work tomorrow. I’ll be on spring break. I’ll be literally flying to Alaska to be briefed. Today I’ll be informing my students that I’m a superhuman.”
John: “Good luck with both. How do you think your students will respond to that information?”
Galactic: “I’ll let you know next week.”
John: “Good luck with that. I’ll contact you soon.”
